Not the end of the threads, just this chapter of life. We'll keep going, don't worry!

However! Not to be used until this one is done

TheThirdOfHerName tealights Grin, crates of beer might be a more welcome suggestion?!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 20:35

Which maths board is your dd doing Lobster? Nightmare about the French recording. You'd have thought in this day and age they could get that right.

Things are much more chilled tonight :) Still some anxiety about Thursday but it seems less scary.

Maybe you can fit candles into bottles of beer?

It's ok I've had the industrial tools out this afternoon catslife and whittled us a finishers arena complete with bar and giant bean bags for lounging. Looking forward to welcoming everybody in.

Now could someone do something about The End in the thread title, I keep getting fizzy nose looking at it. I demand more time, this can't be the end of the school years already. There are some people on here I was talking to under a different NN when DS was in primary .

Sorry music was such a disappointment for some. It was my favourite subject in school but I couldn't for the life of me tell you what was in the exam now Sounds an awful lot harder nowadays.

HesMyLobster · 18/06/2018 20:48

Kitten Maths is OCR (I thought it was AQA but just checked and I was totally wrong!Blush)

Luckily Twitter has been full of the French Faux Pas so hopefully the exam board will look into it. That was WJEC which seems to have had lots of problems with GCSE papers this year too.

Third I wish I could have seen your DS's face at the tealight suggestion! Grin

YippeeTeenager · 18/06/2018 20:49

I’m bleary eyed looking at The End too MrSlant. Can we change it to ‘Just another glorious beginning’ for those of us with a more sentimental, nervous disposition?

HesMyLobster · 18/06/2018 20:52

I'm glad it's not just me who's heart skips every time I see the title! How can it be the end?! I'm so not ready!

(technically it's actually Educas for French, the English version of WJEC apparently Blush)

I promise I am a completely engaged and supportive parent - I just haven't really needed to look at the exam boards before! Confused

HesMyLobster · 18/06/2018 20:54

MrSlant I can't wait to join you over there - it looks all comfy and lovely from this side of the fence!
See you there on Friday - I'll bring a bucket of gin!
3 exams/4 days to go!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 21:14

Sorry about the thread title Blush we could ask mn to change it to 'A new beginning' if you like? Grin
It is terrifying.

Will there be any room for those of us going through to next Monday? I'm afeared the party will be over.

6 exams to go (but only 4 exam days) and one week left. I think come thursday night if step 3 goes ok I'll be feeling demob happy though. Thursday seems like forever away.

I think c3 ers should hopefully find the lower grade boundaries a bit of a comfort hopefully?

UrsulaPandress · 18/06/2018 21:51

Oh leave the title. It is the end of school.

Sob.

TheThirdOfHerName · 18/06/2018 21:55

Maybe the next thread (higher education / employment) can be called 'A New Hope'? Grin

Petalflowers · 18/06/2018 21:58

I’ve got one doing maths tomorrow also. He relaxed watching football, this evening (if watching England can be described as relax
Sing!). Imthinkmthe football wil,be a welcome relaxation after the exams.

Did anyone do business today? This was the paper DS was dreading the most, but felt it went okay. That’s business done and dusted.

I’mmgoing Tombutpy ds a cookery bookmand encourage him to cook after the exams. Any recommendations?

EllenJanethickerknickers · 18/06/2018 21:59

Two more weeks at college for DS2. Then next year he goes to.... college! No end in sight.

I'm glad STEP2 went well, OYBBK. Looking good, keeping fingers crossed. DS1 used to say that doing STEP made FM seem easy. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 22:06

A New Hope Grin

I'm annotating How to Boil an Egg for dd. I used to have it as a student.

Did we decide where the next thread should go? I might create a poll when I'm not so knackered! I can't believe how tired I am.
Ellen that's what dd says. Tomorrow feels like a rest.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 18/06/2018 22:15

Good luck for tomorrow everyone. Dd is doing C3 too.

TheThirdOfHerName · 18/06/2018 22:17

A lot of the young people from these threads will be going directly on to traditional forms of higher education, but some will be taking other paths.

Perhaps we could put the Y14 thread in the higher education section, but avoid titles that narrow it down to a specific route e.g. university.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2018 22:27

We did have Class of '18 as a working title, if that still suits?

OP posts:
HesMyLobster · 18/06/2018 22:35

I think that title is perfect Kitten - says exactly what it is, and nobody excluded or left out.

I can feel a sleepless night coming on - haven't felt this anxious since the first History exam. DD and I will both feel better once C3 is done.
If only it wasn't another annoying afternoon exam!

LoniceraJaponica · 18/06/2018 22:39

Feeling frustrated with DD who has been home all afternoon and done about an hour's revision max. She says the last chemistry exam is the hardest and has spent nearly all afternoon and evening messaging her boyfriend and the friends she is going on holiday with.

TheThirdOfHerName · 18/06/2018 22:43

'Class of 18' is perfect.

Afternoon exams actually suit DS1 better as he usually doesn't get to sleep until 2ish and then gets up at 10ish.

Tomorrow is his only morning exam.

UrsulaPandress · 18/06/2018 23:07

Just set my alarm for 7am to get dd up for her last exam

Last time I'll be doing that then.

Another chapter beckons.

likelyLilac · 18/06/2018 23:15

lonicera similar problem here, dd spent a lot of time with her book open not doing very much today. I'm begining to think her brain might be full!

LoniceraJaponica · 18/06/2018 23:18

I think that is exactly how DD feels Lilac. she is just saturated with revision.

I bumped into a friend earlier today whose DD is just coming to the end of her GCSEs. She has done 25 exams! It's no wonder kids are so stressed these days.

TheThirdOfHerName · 18/06/2018 23:24

DS2 (GCSEs) has his 27th exam tomorrow morning. Thankfully he is a lot less stressy than DS1.
