Not the end of the threads, just this chapter of life. We'll keep going, don't worry!

However! Not to be used until this one is done

Congratulations to your ds knitting

nettles at least you actually drive. After months of lessons I decided that everyone was safer if I stayed off the road.

marmiteloversunite · 19/06/2018 13:07

Yay!! I might have jumped up and down on the pavement outside school earlier!!Blush

It was a good paper with lots of essays she had practiced. Nice to finish on a high. Been out for lunch.

Can't quite believe we have finished!!

Room for a little one on the bench??

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/06/2018 13:17

Knitting that's brilliant. Congrats to your ds!

Well done knitting on the driving test! Perfect timing for the summer holidays!

UrsulaPandress · 19/06/2018 14:21

DD was thrilled with her Tudor paper. The three questions she predicted would come up, did, so couldn't have gone better.

I'd had an interesting morning, having to cry on the farrier's shoulder and have a tiny hissy fit to get him to shoe our horse first, so that DD could ride him after her exam and before prom dress shopping, then the dog jumped out of the garden to fight with his nemesis who was being walked past, cue me screaming like a banshee in the road to get his attention and the owner of bastard nemesis laughing at me, leaving me totally drained. Picked DD up from school to find her all happy and just as we drove away a fox ran out in front of me so I had to do an emergency stop and DD nearly hit the windscreen as she was just putting her belt on.

If I don't sleep tonight there is no justice!

marmiteloversunite · 19/06/2018 15:27

Oh my goodness Ursula what a life you lead!! I'm shattered from being up at 3.30 am and now sitting in a boiling hospital waiting for an appointment for Dad. They are 35 mins late and his dementia is making him very agitated!

flatmouse · 19/06/2018 15:27

Ursula sorry for your day, but good news for your DD - hope she enjoys her ride.
I see the French A level fiasco has hit the BBC news.
Waiting to hear how Greece was..... 3 mins left....

HardwickWhite · 19/06/2018 15:33

C3 was “fine I think, ok, I finished, but I'm not completely sure. She looks shattered again, but is already gearing up for chemistry tomorrow.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/06/2018 15:43

I'm really pleased it went well Ursula, but what a lively morning!

marmite I hope your Dad gets seen soon.

It's so hard for them Hardwick.

day off for dd tomorrow. I'm going to attempt to rest in bed a bit in the morning too.

Quite a few of DDs friends had history this morning, then maths in the afternoon. They must be fried!

Icouldbeknitting · 19/06/2018 15:54

Ursula at least the horse and daughter are sorted now, it's only the dog that is liable to reoffend. You have more to complain about that me but I'm going to have a mutter anyway.

Someone tell me why it's me looking at young driver insurance and not the actual young driver himself? Probably just as well really, I can't get my head round it so he would have no chance. Also why is it that family members are opening with "well are you buying him a car then?" when they know he'll be at university for the next four years. He wouldn't be able to take it with him so do I really want to be buying him a car to have it sitting on the drive for 60% of the year? Apparently I am being unreasonable because that's exactly what family member X did for his kids. I would like to have screamed like a banshee at that point but had to settled for smiling and then swearing a lot after I got home.

UrsulaPandress · 19/06/2018 16:04

Insurance is a nightmare to sort out - if only as the prices are so shocking. Although DD's came down a bit this year, and mine went up Hmm.

DD will not be taking her car to Uni with her for the first year, but might depending on where she is living for the subsequent years.

raspberryrippleicecream · 19/06/2018 16:07

DD said C3 could not have been worse, and everyone else in class found it easy.

I'm heartbroken for her as she's worked really hard for all get exams and come out of every one upset.

It's going to be a long summer.

Icouldbeknitting · 19/06/2018 16:20

Oh no Raspberry, to have come out of all of them upset must be really hard for her. I'm hoping that this is a case where she's seeing only the negatives and not the positives and that it all comes out well in the end. What a miserable start to the summer though.

flatmouse · 19/06/2018 16:23

Oh no Raspberry. Hopefully when she's had time to reflect, it won't have been as bad as all that? (clutching at straws).
DS said Greece was "Alright yeh" and then moved on to telling me he'd got the prediction for the footie match wrong (office competition).

knitting not that he's passed his test yet, but DS won't be getting a car either (unlike a lot of his peers).
Suspect fridge grazing is in progress at moment, and then hopefully some last minute chemistry 3 revision.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 19/06/2018 16:33

raspberry I am sorry that is hard.

flatmouse good if Greece was ok, hope chemistry is too.

Dd thought maths was ok so that is a relief. Couple of days before the next one; the end is just about in sight.

TheThirdOfHerName · 19/06/2018 16:36

DS1 is done. I'm too exhausted to celebrate.
He's going out with friends for a bit but wants to get an early night ready for his first driving lesson tomorrow morning.

Petalflowers · 19/06/2018 16:40

Dc had maths today (not sure the paper but could have been c3).Didn’t really like it and found it tough.

It’s a real shame because he’s really worked hard at his maths, and in the papers he’s done at home, got good marks. However, the maths papers haven’t gone his way. We were hoping for a C, now i’m Not so sure.

TheThirdOfHerName · 19/06/2018 16:47

Petalflowers hope the grade boundaries are kind to him.

Knittinganewme · 19/06/2018 16:56

Checks out shiny new name change....

HesMyLobster · 19/06/2018 16:59

Sorry to hear of bad experiences with maths today.
DD also said it was a really tough paper. She managed to finish (miracle!) but isn't confident of her answers, and don't have time to check them.

Congratulations to Knitting's DS. We did buy DD a car, mainly because it worked out cheaper than just putting her on my insurance (big car!)
DD2 turns 17 in a few months though and it will then be shared, so not a complete waste when DD1 is at university.

Ursula I think you need a break from animals, never mind exams!!

Marmite, sorry to hear about your Dad that sounds difficult. Hope he's not been kept waiting too much longer.

Well Done to all joining the finishers' bench today! You made it!!

DD is cracking on with some French for tomorrow's exam. Hoping this one will go a bit more smoothly than yesterday's Confused

2 exams to go! End in sight!

HesMyLobster · 19/06/2018 17:02

Ooh knitting nice new name!! Smile

MsAwesomeDragon · 19/06/2018 17:03

raspberry I'm sorry to hear that, she works so hard!! It will be a long summer indeed. I hope she's done better than she thinks.

Petalflowers I'm sorry your ds found maths hard as well. It's very common for people to find C3 and C4 hard.

Dd is not getting a car either. She won't need it at uni, and we don't have space at home to keep an extra car, even if we could afford one.

Petalflowers · 19/06/2018 17:13

Thank you for your kind words.

Knittinganewme · 19/06/2018 17:23

It might give a bit of reassurance to point students to the article on the BBC news that I read today that says that only 16% of students meet their predicted grades, 9% do better and 75% perform less well than predicted.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-44525719

Those who think their plans are shot to pieces now, it might not be the case at all. The research goes back to 2016 so presumably the majority of students don't meet their predictions and yet go on to university.
