Not the end of the threads, just this chapter of life. We'll keep going, don't worry!

However! Not to be used until this one is done

Downey the end is nigh! It must feel very surreal now. Chill the wine ready for countdown! Kitten have a fab holiday & others about to depart too. MrSlant glad to hear you're on the road to recovery now. Ursula what a prize prat of a neighbour indeed!

Isn't it wonderful just enjoying the weekend weather, sipping a cool glass of wine & thinking about absolutely nothing in particular, after months of stress! Best summer yet after years on the exam treadmill!

GnomeDePlume · 01/07/2018 22:04

Final straight Downeyhouse all the best for tomorrow.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 01/07/2018 23:10

Good luck for tomorrow. It sounds like a very full-on week.

marmiteloversunite · 01/07/2018 23:37

Downey one more sleep! Best of luck for tomorrow!! Room for a little one on the bench ....

ShanghaiDiva · 02/07/2018 06:56

Good luck for today Downey!

HesMyLobster · 02/07/2018 07:47

Hooray! It's the final exam day!!
Huge good luck to your DS Downey 🍀

Downeyhouse · 02/07/2018 08:03

Woke up to discover a bleary eyed ds who has only slept for 3 hours!

And was up at 3.30 am revising!
I think he gets a buzz out pushing himself so hard. Am hoping he maintains his crazy work ethic when he gets to uni.

He has plans to sleep all afternoon and party all night once he is done at 12.

Downeyhouse · 02/07/2018 08:04

Thank you for the good luck messages. I told him the «mums from Mumsnet» wished him luck and he was rather touched.

raspberryrippleicecream · 02/07/2018 08:09

Also thinking of you today Downey

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/07/2018 08:14

We're all nearly done!
Very emotional leaving DS's school. It's been his home for 7 years. Everyone was in tears at the leaving service apparently.
I must admit I cried more when I bought him home than I did dropping him off!
Now he needs to find some friends in his home town. Luckily his best mate from primary is also taking a gap year and his GF isn't going to uni either

LoniceraJaponica · 02/07/2018 08:23

Are we all having a virtual party tonight then? Grin

Knittinganewme · 02/07/2018 08:25

It will all be over soon. I expected to feel relieved and happy but I wasn't, not at first anyway.

Nettleskeins · 02/07/2018 09:45

cannot say I feel emotional about ds's school at all..feels like a bad dream tbh, most of the landmarks of his education. Apart from the school productions and concerts; yes I will miss those. But sitting in the school hall waiting for Parents' Eves' [cold shiver runs down my spine] no happy memories there.

He did love the Prom though, so he must have made some invisible friends that I don't know the names of!!

TheThirdOfHerName · 02/07/2018 09:48

I don't feel emotional about DS1 leaving school, but I do have two younger children there.

TheThirdOfHerName · 02/07/2018 09:56

For a long time, attending school was a drain on DS1's health. The decline in his health was proportional to the frequency of the meetings they invited me to, so I started to develop a negative association and began to feel anxious every time they phoned or called me in. They were consistently flexible and supportive, so this isn't a reflection on the school.

DS2 and DS3 don't have the same health problems, so hopefully I'll start to feel more positive again.

Downeyhouse · 02/07/2018 11:04

Swings into the car park at the Finishers’ Enclosure, horn tooting, gravel flying, eyes streaming, feeling fiercely proud, happy and nostalgic all at once. Am a blubbering mess and ready for a glass of something.

Can someone please help me carry the crate of wine to the enclosure? I stopped off and picked up Belgian chocolates in Belgium and cheese in France so I think we are well equipped for nibbles.

Last exam went “well”. So it is a wrap over here.

We have as a group officially reached
The End of Exam Season 🍾🍾🍾.

(Unless I forgot someone else and if so I do apologse).

Sorry to have kept you all waiting so long.

Thank you for your company over the last weeks and I look forward to sharing the Next Chapter with you all.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 02/07/2018 11:35

downey chocolate, cheese, wine how very civilised.

Two days to relax and celebrate and the the results angst starts!

Knittinganewme · 02/07/2018 12:49

Granny had the hen's bum face on hearing that DS had finished lessons. It is clearly a reflection on how poor that school is. I did ask what she thought he would be doing in lessons, seeing as he's had the final exams but there was no reply. Pass the cheese and wine please, I'll hang on to the bottle if that's ok.

Lovely to see you here Downey, we didn't mind waiting for you seeing as all we have to do is wait for the middle of August (no, I am not telling Granny when it is, she can look it up for herself if she's that bothered)

littledrummergirl · 02/07/2018 12:56

Downey, fantastic choices. I came on to say good luck to your Ds but am somewhat tardy I blame the party.
Welcome to the after party.

Have a brilliant holiday kitten.

Downeyhouse · 02/07/2018 13:01

Knitting you made me laugh with the granny’s hens bum!

Ex MIL has been doing the hen’s bum all year. Wants him to go the local Uni sonshe can still smother him LOL & she can’t understand why a dc educated in English and who is half British may want to go the UK!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/07/2018 14:11

Hooray Downey!!!

Very civilised choice of snacks. I can offer much posh fruit and some rather dubious prickly pears Confused. But I can also offer a swimming pool.

OP posts:
Knittinganewme · 02/07/2018 15:06

This time next week I will be able to offer a yacht. You'll probably be better off with the pool because the downside with the yacht is that it will have a lot of learner drivers and possibly a good deal of imaginative swearing.

HesMyLobster · 02/07/2018 15:18

Hooray! Congratulations Downey you made it!! 🎉

Perfect choice of snacks - now we're all here though I'm going to pop open the good stuff! Been saving it specially Grin

DD2 is at her 6th form induction today so we're not leaving DD1's school just yet. I think it must be much more of a wrench with a boarding school where it's a home as well as a school.

Hope you have a marvellous holiday Kitten - jealous of your fruit and pool today!

UrsulaPandress · 02/07/2018 16:22

I can only offer a slightly bent parasol and some very wobbly garden chairs.
