Films that make you angry they're so crap

I'm sorry if this thread has been done lots? But anyway, whilst there are films that are bad and funny for it, there are films that are so bad they make you want to scream. I watched Aquaman the other day and it was jaw grindingly awful. I can't think of a worse recent movie right now but am interested to hear of any that can challenge that monumental pile of guano.

OP posts:

Troy- dear god- I really don't get the love for Brad Pitt- his acting was more wooden than the horse...

Sunset6 · 08/01/2023 18:15

Cats - disconcerting CGI, incoherent story, dodgy acting, strange direction, terrible all round

I'm old enough to remember the worst film of all time ever, from 1988, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. Not even funny bad, just toe-curlingly, self-indulgently weird and awful- we left before the end. However, I did enjoy the hilarious crpness of Jason Statham in The Meg. Turns out my DD at Uni and her mates have sht shark movie night. Apparently, there are many of them and they love revelling in the awfulness.

Your DD and her mates sound brilliant!😂 Shark movies are the best of all movies because even the worst stinkers are a good laugh!

I've seen some terrible films over the years that I regretted paying to see. A few that spring to mind:
A River Runs Through It was BORING! Felt like 100 years long.
Hated Leon and Natural Born Killers. They made me feel grubby.
Taladega Nights was shite.
Home Alone 3. Was expecting Kevin and got something completely different.

PuppyMonkey · 08/01/2023 18:20

There are some proper stinkers mentioned in this thread but the only film that has made me angry as OP described is that awful Charlie’s Angels remake with Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore and Lucy Lui. It was infuriating, I had to walk out.

There's a Norwegian film on Netflix (or similar) at the minute called 'Trolls'.
Awful.

Oh god, yes, it is a total waste of time. I thought it would be like Trollhunter, which I thought was ok

Mochudubh · 08/01/2023 18:23

Brave heart. It came out in my final year of Uni studying Scottish history and was eagerly anticipated. What an absolute crock of shite, the inaccuracies would take all evening to list but the most annoying thing is that the actual story of Wallace, Bruce and the Wars of Independence would make a brilliant film in the right hands. Even Outlaw King with Chris Pine was miles better.

The only redeeming feature of Brave heart was Patrick McGuhan's sceneery chewing performance as Edward I.

The film is so bad that the name keeps autocorrecting to two separate words and I can't even be arsed to go back and change it.

Gh12345 · 08/01/2023 18:23

Any of the avengers movies… zzz

"The Pale Blue Eye"on Netflix was so bad it made me furious. The first ten minutes lured me in, then the rest of it was trope after cliché for two fucking hours.

Oh I've just started watching that...

MagpiePi · 08/01/2023 18:25

I couldn’t watch A Quiet Place.
Why are they walking about in bare feet on sand trails? Who puts the sand trails down and maintains them? Why don’t they soundproof their houses?

PermanentTemporary · 08/01/2023 18:25

Brad Pitt is a comic ensemble actor in the body of a leading man. Just watched Bullet Train, loved him in that, and Burn After Reading he is so good in. Shite at being a serious actor though.

I enjoy it as entertainment - Patrick McGoohan was hilarious. I loved when he walked his son's boyfriend over to the window as if deep in conversation, only to chuck him out.😂😂

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 08/01/2023 18:26

‘Pudsy the Dog: The Movie. So achingly bad that I reckon that it was made as part of a tax avoidance scheme.

ClaireEclair · 08/01/2023 18:29

Love Actually and The Holiday are so so so bad! I hate watch them every year. I speed past a lot of Love actually (the stand in po rn stars, the dude that goes to America for sex). I think I only like Emma Thompson and Martine McCutcheon.

Sex and the City two is like some weird fever dream. I refuse to acknowledge it as part of the franchise.

onionringcheeseypuff · 08/01/2023 18:31

Downsizing

What the actual fuck was that all about

Happy Go Lucky - the Mike Leigh film with Sally Hawkins.

I wanted to put a stick in her bike spokes.

I love that film! It’s one of my favourites. I’d be best mates with her.

Zzz isn't the same as angry though. It's probably the opposite. Kong Skull Island was zzzz, barely a monster rampage a full hour in. Top Gun Maverick though - 😡😡just another expensive session of Tom Cruise pretending to be the mega awesome action star he honestly believes he is. Repulsive man. Even the very beginning was absolutely insufferable.

They cut out a storyline about a mature lesbian couple and kept in the porn actors?🙄 Terrible decision.

I don't like Bill Nighy's character either. Unfunny and crass.

MsJuniper · 08/01/2023 18:35

The Notebook filled me with rage.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 08/01/2023 18:36

I watched White Noise on Netflix last night. Apparently it is cinematically brilliant, a post-apocalyptic dystopian comedy, that rates five stars. It was shit - the apocalype was forgotten minutes after it happened, the dialogue was so stilted that I thought it was badly dubbed, and as for comedy ... Don't waste your time people.

Gamer we daw the advert thought that looks like a good film no idea where the clips from the advert went it was FUCKING NAUSEATING

Avatar long just TOO long in places

Lord of the rings, Lord what were they on about? Does it even corolate to the book? Does it make sense? No we are going to ignore gandalf and bugger off with a yotal stranger no-one trusts 🙄

So much money wasted my family wonder why I no longer go to the cinema

Erm what? You either haven't watched the lord of the rings or you haven't read it!

Beachsidesunset · 08/01/2023 18:39

The Golden Compass. Offensively bad compared to the book.

I’m sure there are worse films than Moulin Rouge! but that one was particularly annoying because it had so much potential. It was set in Belle Epoque Paris, a fascinating time and place. It had some amazing sets and costumes. It had some great actors.

But the script was nonsensical and cringeworthy. The direction was confusing, so that we don’t realise when the characters are inside that amazing elephant room. What a waste! Baz Luhrmann tried to be too clever by including modern elements, (such as the Can Can dancers singing “Smells Like Teen Spirit”) which pulled the viewer out of the place and time. I couldn’t suspend disbelief and get into it.

Moulin Rouge gave me a migraine in the first 10 minutes and had to switch it off.

whirlyhead · 08/01/2023 18:42

Oh another - Lawrence of Arabia. Never been so bored in my life. I saw it so long ago there was an interval and I nearly started crying when I realised I had to sit through more of the damn thing.

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 08/01/2023 18:43

Oh god! Little man. It's on Disney+. DD (9) put it on today. It's a 12. I'm pretty ok with 12's. It was horrific. Full of crap jokes that went waaaaaayyyyy to far! A 40 year old bloke pretending to be a baby and trying to sexual stuff with the women who were mums. 🤮🤮. We turned it off and watched jumanji instead.

mrsbitaly · 08/01/2023 18:47

Barbarian - what an absolute random pile of 💩
