I don't watch normal tv only Boxsets!

Each box set I have watched brings back memories of my life at that time.

24 a brilliant concept and one of the first to get me hooked , but I remember watching this with my exh when my son had just been born and i can no longer watch it without feeling reminiscent of my life back then.

On a happier note The Wire changed my outlook on life. I can't explain this that well but I began to question things I wouldn't normally.
The characters I felt huge empathy towards and I feel the show showed how tough life can be like especially as it seems kids born on the streets have a preset path to jail or death.
The wire also has shown predictions that have come true over here like the decline of industries and its impact.

Oz another hard hitting drama, I did think I was not going to be able to watch because of the violence but again I felt for the prisoners who had followed their preset path from birth to prison.

Monk is a great comedy detective series and just really easy to watch.

Smallville surprised me, I had written it off as a teen series but it's quite good to see the change of lex Luther .

The Inbetweeners is a good comedy boxset and reminds me of my youth.

American horror story is a favourite of mine for being scary and unpredictable. I also like the fact the same actors play different characters throughout the seasons.

We're ploughing our way through the fabulous Elementary on box set right now, and I have 2 series of Bones waiting for me too!

Deafworm · 08/05/2015 13:18

we love criminal minds, I really want to watch it through from start to finish though as i havent been watching it consistently. the box sets i have enjoyed are scandal, grimm and suits. I really enjoy settling down when my children are in bed and watching a few episodes of something i enjoy

cookiedoughyum · 08/05/2015 13:29

Definitely has to be The Shield. I'd say it's up there with The Wire & Breaking Bad but seems to be a little more unknown, possible because it's a bit older. But it is excellent so far (season 3 of 7). A cop show with a difference, really very clever & addictive.

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 08/05/2015 22:05

We watched all the seasons of House followed by most of Breaking Bad. DH kept falling asleep and missing vital bits though. I'm now only watching box sets on my own when he's out or at work - he's done the same thing in Boardwalk Empire, The Wire and Game of Thrones. I'll be in working my way through those!

DD has just watched Outnumbered and loved it so much she went straight back to the beginning.

Pickofthepops · 08/05/2015 23:58

Teachers a few years ago, then Spooks, then The Good Wife.

Tessiebooboo · 09/05/2015 17:10

una1mac · 09/05/2015 17:30

The West Wing, Love Hate, Game of Thrones

una1mac · 09/05/2015 17:34

The West Wing - great dialogue, pace and storytelling, with characters that you root for - you grow up with each and everyone. Jeb Bartlet, now there's a president that you'd like to have in charge.

zmm20 · 09/05/2015 18:06

At the moment I'm loving Gilmore girls, parenthood, drop dead diva and revenge, boxsets are great for when my son is feeding at night they keep me awake when I've only managed 2 hours sleep haha

Littleham · 09/05/2015 19:34

The Killing (Scandi) is amazing.

babaluscious · 09/05/2015 21:16

We love the wire, homicide life on the streets and firefly (if you are a sci-fi fan and have not seen firefly you really really must - it's awesome Grin)

Mummify · 09/05/2015 22:13

West Wing (all time fave)
Prison Break (Mmmm!)
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (why didn't they do more?!)
Mad Men (retro goodness)
Scandal (chick lit of the series world)
Sex and the City (reminds me of happy series watching in my young days)
The Sheild (I love Vic Macky)

Cest tout!

thewomaninwhitefluffybunnyears · 09/05/2015 22:26

Breaking Bad. Late to the party I know!

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz1234 · 09/05/2015 22:42

Breaking bad
Father ted. Star x 5
Mad Dogs
Greenwings.
Desperate housewives
Cold feet

FranksBobot · 10/05/2015 00:16

Without a doubt it has to be Ally McBeal!
I bought the complete box set back in 2007 and have lost count how many times I have watched it over.
It's the only tv series I truly enjoy re-watching. I laugh out loud, cry buckets of tears, sing my heart out and always dread Billy's death.
The fact Robert Downey Jr features is also a huge plus since he is rather dreamy.
Ahhhhh and let's not forget THAT dance routine Grin

llynnnn · 10/05/2015 07:46

I love a good box set...usually go for comedies, but have also enjoyed 24, life on Mars, Downton abbey
Faves though are orange is the new black, friends, the middle, modern family, the office, inbetweeners.
Just started watching parenthood, really enjoying that now, looking forward to dh going out again so I can watch another episode in peace Wink

369thegoosedrankwine · 10/05/2015 09:55

All time fave is friends. Watch this whilst doing my ironing and still laugh through it.

Love modern family - have this on the ipad and watch on holidays a lot.

Sex and the City - reto and reminds me of pre-children.

stainesmassif · 10/05/2015 12:31

My most recent binge was Transparent on Amazon. Watched it all over two days. Also loved Arrested Development.
Breaking Bad ruined all the other serious dramas for me. Though Justified is pretty good.

Fifinella · 10/05/2015 18:17

Have loved watching Frasier, Green Wing, Morse and Lewis Box Sets with DP! And Endeavour and Scandi dramas the The Killing and Borgen when we have missed them on TV. Oooh, and Vera (this is a crime drama household, can you tell?!). In the last couple of years we've also watched/loved the Coupling and Teachers Box Sets.

DP is another who loves Battlestar Galactica and Babylon 5, though he's on his own with them - and The Wire.

Currently in need of more and contemplating an Ally McBeal Box Set purchase. We watch more Box Sets than I realised, typing them out! The only one I regret is Ab Fab, we bought it and just haven't watched it.

StandoutMop · 10/05/2015 18:32

I still regret giving my sister the complete West Wing box set - got it an a ridiculously cheap offer so gave her the lot instead of just 1 series. But, oh how I wish it were mine.

Also on wish list are ER and Gilmore Girls, both for happy maternity leave memories.

I do have Sex and the City (seems dated now) and Twin Peaks (still love, love, love but scares me more than I remember).

YossarianLives · 10/05/2015 19:15

The Sopranos, ER, Black Books, and Green Wing.
