West Wing, Gilmore Girls, How I MetYour Mother, sports Night, Studio 60. I'm sure there's more but they're the first ones I think of Smile

RhinosAreFatUnicorns · 02/05/2015 12:35

I'm loving this thread for ideas. It's been a long time since we've done box set marathons, although DH has just got through Game of Thrones in the past few weeks.

Criminal Minds, Person of Interest, CSI all great.

Doobydoo · 02/05/2015 16:09

Doobydoo · 02/05/2015 16:12

Also House if Cards and whats the one where solicitors shared a house?

Doobydoo · 02/05/2015 16:12

Of!

lionheart · 02/05/2015 16:40

Friends. Watching it with my 13 year old DS. It is still funny but we are often both Hmm at the gender politics. Hadn't noticed it so much the first time round. Surprising.

I love boxsets! DH and I love to spend a couple of weeks going over a boxset in the build up to new series starting in TV, but also just because we loved watching the series so much. A few favourites are:

Dexter
Fringe
The walking Dead
Game of Thrones
True Blood
Arrow
Life on Mars
Ashes to Ashes

I have particularly fond memories from pre-DCs of binge watching Dexter and Fringe. I can't choose just one though, it's just too hard!

I do keep thinking that I should watch Breaking Bad as everyone raved about it, so may borrow the first series to see how it is.

Zippea · 02/05/2015 21:08

Oh so many! (I sleep terribly!)
Orange is the New Black
The White Queen
The Tudors
Boston Legal
CSI
Bones
Criminal Minds
Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Thrones
Grey's Anatomy

I used to love Friends and Frasier too

FairyPenguin · 02/05/2015 21:16

Have loved all of the following:

Heroes
The Newsroom
24
Lost
Desperate Housewives
Brothers and Sisters
Homeland
Revolution
Blue Bloods
Elementary
Greys Anatomy
Private Practice

Now watching first season of Suits and loving it.

Next up is Downton Abbey - never watched it!

My faves are;
Sons of anarchy for a new series,
for ones you watch over and over I'd say friends, futurama and Scrubs.
And DS's favourite is chuggington Grin

bumbleymummy · 03/05/2015 11:46

Friday Night Lights. It was brilliant. Great characters, loved the storyline. I miss it :(

IconicTonic · 03/05/2015 11:52

Revenge is the one that got me most hooked, other favourites are

Desperate Housewives
Friends
Grey's Anatomy
Buffy

rumbleinthejungle · 03/05/2015 11:58

Our Friends in the North. A true 'gritty, northern drama' with a fantastic cast including a young Christopher Ecclestone. I can't recommend it highly enough.

hairypaws · 03/05/2015 11:58

Frasier - we worked through every episode with my mum in law. We're always looking for a good series to watch after she comes round for dinner and Frasier really hit the spot. Loads of episodes, always raising a laugh, great characters and a gorgeous dog to boot, what's not to like?

WickedGirl · 03/05/2015 12:08

Breaking bad, Dexter, bones, the walking dead and orange is the new black are all firm favourites here.

Zinxie · 03/05/2015 12:17

Northern Exposure.

Everyone in the family can curl up together and relax watching this, because there's nothing to make anyone uncomfortable or scared, no swearing or violence or sexualisation. Neither is there bitching or materialism...it's full of thoughtful issues that spur discussions, like the morals of hunting, or How to Share, and How different communities can live alongside one another in harmony. It's set in Alaska and has beautiful nature scenes, and American Indian ceremonies and myths sometimes come into the plots. There's whimsy too, with a bit of post modernist self reference breaking up the illusion, as well as some magical realism.

It gives the family a lot to talk about after each episode. We love it, and are happy it's a huge box set!

GloGirl · 03/05/2015 13:09

I fancy givong Bones a try.

For me it was House.

GloGirl · 03/05/2015 13:11

Or Studio 60. Only problem is it's only one series long so not really a box set.

Ooh, Friends is another top fave

RedCherry · 03/05/2015 13:28

Prison break! Had a major crush on Wentworth Miller so I was addicted.
True Blood & Walking Dead also both had me hooked.

YellowTangerine · 03/05/2015 13:35

Oh how I do love a good box set. My favourite is probably Dexter. I have watched so many though. Currently on Netflix watching Orange is the new black! Love it!
I also terribly miss Desperate Housewives. That was my first love.

AwfulBeryl · 03/05/2015 13:40

Breaking bad and The Wire, better call Saul is great too.

Stillill · 03/05/2015 14:01

House of cards is number 1. Very closely followed by Homeland and Prison Break. Working on Breaking Bad arm.
