I've recently watched House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Modern Family and have just started watching The Good Wife (I'm hooked). I loved Breaking Bad, and got into Game of Thrones last year. The Walking Dead is also brilliant. I started watching Dexter but the goryness and the serial killer angle made me uncomfortable so I stopped watching.

butterflyballs · 29/04/2015 18:13

We are a box set free zone :( unless you count home alone 1-4 which we have endured eleventy million times :o

We love bones and NCIS, law and order when we catch them on tv.

I'd get box sets if I could afford them!

OnlyLovers · 29/04/2015 18:19

The Legacy is sophisticated but soapy. Beautiful interiors and Danish knitwear. Grin

A bit old now, but Damages is awesome, especially the first series. Glenn Close is ferocious in it.

Even older Grin, Life on Mars, which I only caught up with via a friend's box set recently. Career-best performances from John Simm and Philip Glenister and the chemistry between them is up there with Cumberbatch and Freeman in Sherlock.

Which is another good watch ...

Myfoofneedspruning · 29/04/2015 18:19

I have lots of favourite : scandal, the good wife, sons of anarchy, Grimm, Dexter, private practice, house of cards, Orange is the new black, hemlock grove...

DoItTooJulia · 29/04/2015 18:24

So many to choose from, but my all time favourite is six feet under! Such an underrated show and I could lose hours watching it. I now it's old now, but I really think it's genius. Ds1 was almost called Nate because of it!

I also loved ER but the 'box set' is HUGE!

OnlyLovers · 29/04/2015 18:29

Ooh, Six Feet Under is mine too, Julia! Best TV ever, IMO.

Spaghettio · 29/04/2015 18:47

I'm a big fan of The West Wing and I've recently binged on the Good Wife on Netflix. DP and I are working our way through Daredevil on Netflix now, hoping it carries on being good!

InAndOfMyself · 29/04/2015 18:47

Veronica Mars! That show is right up there with Buffy for me.

Spaghettio · 29/04/2015 18:48

Oh oh - Dexter was also fab!

MarthaCostello · 29/04/2015 18:52

Excellent timing as I watched the final episode of West Wing last night Sad I felt really sad that I'd never see it again! I don't think I've ever been so emotionally involved in a television series. I'm not sure what I will watch next. Possibly CSI as I am a couple of series behind. In some ways it's good that I missed them on live telly as now I can watch them in my own time :)

I also enjoyed catching up on Grey's Anatomy and The Mentalist a while back, I'm now up to date with both so have to wait a whooole week between episodes. I loved 24 as well, and secretly hoping for another series Grin

I rarely watch films now, I'd much rather watch a couple of episodes of a series.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 29/04/2015 18:55

Ooh, so many to choose from!

Sci-fi/Fantasy - Supernatural or Battlestar Galactica are probably my favourites. Firefly is great but I still get sulky that it only got one season Angry. Buffy is still a great watch too. DH keeps pestering me to watch Fringe.

Comedy - 30 Rock is probably the one that's been rewatched the most - completely bonkers and utterly hilarious. Just waiting for Parks and Recreation to come down in price and I'll definitely be getting that too. Father Ted is also still brilliant.

Drama/Action - Sons of Anarchy is fantastic and I really must watch Life on Mars again. If you are willing to invest a bit of time, then The Wire is some of the best TV I have ever seen.

greenflamingo · 29/04/2015 19:00

I'm slightly ashamed to confess that I've just finished a "Saved by the bell" box set. It was kind of glorious.

WowOoo · 29/04/2015 19:12

Another Six Feet Under Fan here too.
I had Breaking Bad for Christmas. I lent it to a neighbour (and had forgotten about it). That's what we'll be watching when we get it back!

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 29/04/2015 19:19

DH & I loved the west wing and entourage. We loved the first couple of seasons of 24 too.
I really like greys anatomy, but DH isn't interested at all.
DH loves the sopranos, but I've never seen it. He really enjoys curb your enthusiasm & I like it, but it wouldn't make my top 10.

TelephoneIgnoringMachine · 29/04/2015 19:21

Dexter, Firefly, The Office, Royle Family, Monk, The Big Bang Theory. Not necessarily in that order. We have lots of others too... The Complete Ronnie Barker, Red Dwarf, Father Ted, Futurama. Many others. We don't watch much actual TV, mostly just boxsets!

cookiefiend · 29/04/2015 19:23

We have watched the west wing from start to finish dozens of times. Love it. I also love Frasier as a bit of comfort tv.

insanityscatching · 29/04/2015 19:34

I'm currently watching Wire in the Blood. I tend to remember single episodes from series I watched years ago and then buy the box set and watch the whole series. I've just finished all sixteen series of Silent Witness. It's great watching how special effects, sets and props evolve over the years.

BiscuitsForBreakfast · 29/04/2015 20:02

'The Middle' is my most favourite. It would have been 'Friends' in my younger years but 'The Middle' suits my time of life now. Other regulars here are 'Modern Family' and 'Game of Thrones' although if my DH wasn't such a big fan of 'Game of Thrones', I probably wouldn't watch it cause I have to psych myself up for it - it's a bit much for me sometimes.

43cupsoftea · 29/04/2015 20:04

In order of preference...Grin
West Wing
Breaking Bad
The Killing
Borgen
The Wire

Currently going through Game of Thrones but that's not a box set technically, we are watching through Sky, but on my list I think it would No.3!

Have done a couple of others but can't remember so not worthy of my list!!

FortyFacedFuckers · 29/04/2015 20:09

Prison break
Desperate housewives
Greys anatomy
Revenge
I love a box set and love when I am watching one and will stay up for hours saying one more episode.

YonicScrewdriver · 29/04/2015 20:10

Buffy.

Would love to do Doctor Who and ER beginning to end.

daisychicken · 29/04/2015 20:19

Castle, firefly, lost girls, continuum, house of cards, orphan black, ncis, csi.... there's loads we've loved! Have just started persons of interest and bodies. Box sets are fab and it's great to watch the series one after the other!

BornToFolk · 29/04/2015 21:02

So tough to pick a favourite! I have the whole of West Wing and love it. I also love Sherlock and Mad Men but I think my favourite has to be Firefly for watching over and over. Can't ever get bored of it and I'm always sad that there's only one series!

Heathcliff27 · 29/04/2015 21:05

I've finally caught up with Downton Abbey, I always knew i'd like it but had never started watching it, am now hooked! Did exactly the same with game if thrones, heard everyone else raving about it but didnt watch it then had about 3 series' to catch up with. Love box sets for my sacred days off work, curtain closed, dvd on and relax.

doublechocchip · 29/04/2015 21:31

Currently watching mad men (alone) and I think it's amazing. Together we're just about to start season 2 of Game of Thrones despite being very late to the party!

24 and prison break are some of our old favourites and we enjoyed most of breaking bad- but lost interest in season 5 (I realise here we are the exception to the rule though).

After thinking no other medical drama could ever match ER we found Greys anatomy and I became a total convert.

Earlier than that I loved friends, sex and the city and desperate housewives I even have the first few boxsets of the Simpsons which I'm watching with the dc's.

Give me a boxset over a film any day! I love having a found a programme you enjoy to look forward to at the end of the day.
