I love box sets, too. So many of them:

House - this kickstarted my passion for boxsets - pity they buggered up the last series
In Treatment - absolutely fantastic - such great, close up acting
The Killing - goes without saying
Borgen
The Bridge - can't wait for that to restart
Desperate Housewives - light but lovely to watch when you're knackered
Curb Your Enthusiasm - watch it just for Susie
Gavin & Stacey - love Ruth Jones

Still have ER and 24 to watch.

Currently working my way through Dexter, and oh my goodness, it's SOOOOO good!

I watch an episode each day after work while I wait for my lift home, and I never thought I'd see the day I'd be rooting for serial killer! But I love watching him evolve and develop, and I can literally feel my heart racing when I think he's about to get caught.

I'm currently on Series 3 and just waiting for Miguel to betray him! I could be completely wrong of course!

Another one I spent a summer of unemployment watching was Lost which I still miss watching for the first time. The character development and story arc particularly in the first season was incredible.

Loved the killing, all the twists and turns. Was really sad when we finished the last episode.

I'm currently enjoying damages, nearly at the end now though Hmm

ImperialBlether · 30/04/2015 21:33

marymouse, did you see the threads on MN about The Killing? They were really great.

Theimpossiblegirl · 30/04/2015 22:56

I love Modern Family and Friends. I watch them with my girls and we never get tired of them.

Without them, I watch The Following, Game of Thrones and SATC.

ThePaperBagPrincess · 01/05/2015 01:29

Recently watched the Chuck box set and LOVED it Grin

Struggling to find something else in a similar vein to pass the time during the night feeds now!

campocaro · 01/05/2015 09:21

Nurse Jackie was absolutely compulsive warching. Then Sopranos and The Wire. Now into The West Wing. Completely changed our tv watching habits.

thecatsm0ther · 01/05/2015 10:34

My all time favourite box sets I come back to again and again are Firefly and Friends. I also enjoyed Lost, Heroes, Buffy, Breaking Bad, Warehouse 13, Orphan Black, and we have just started Walking Dead and are one series into Big Bang Theory.

thecatsm0ther · 01/05/2015 10:35

Forgot Game of Thrones and Supernatural!

SevenEleven · 01/05/2015 11:36

I missed all the Downton Abbey hype of the last couple of years and was never really that bothered, but I was bought the box set (series 1-4) for Christmas and watched it when I was ill. LOVED IT!! Was almost bereft when the last credits rolled and now need to get the next series as I need to know what happens next!

I have always wanted the full Friends box set as we only have freeview so I cant watch it now, and also would love The Big Bang Theory box set!

PandaMummyofOne · 01/05/2015 14:48

I watch loads, greys anatomy and walking dead are my all time favourites. But we've recently started watching arrow, breaking bad, strike back, orange is the new black and scandal.

All on catch up and all when DS is tucked up in bed. We just about make it through one episode I something before we fall asleep on the sofa lol.

ScienceRocks · 01/05/2015 16:50

Another wing nut here. I adored the west wing, and would love to watch it again. Once did seven episodes in one sitting. I swear my entire knowledge of the American government is based on it.

Also notable are the wire, house, treme, er, alias, the good wife, house of cards, the first series of 24, and the Big Bang theory.

Been doing it for years, but on demand TV has made it much easier to binge!

Popchik9 · 01/05/2015 17:20

Breaking Bad is my favourite ever box set. Also loved
Rome
Cold Feet
Greys Anatomy
friends

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/05/2015 17:25

I love box sets.

I have house and x files.
really want to finish my er and greys anatomy collection too.

buffy and angel also good. must buy buffy.

chairmeoh · 01/05/2015 18:24

West Wing is in a class of its own.
DD would say scooby doo.

jules1308 · 01/05/2015 19:09

Favourite would have to be Friday Night Lights, just great.
Also liked The Wire, The Killing, The Bridge, Game of Thrones, first couple of series of Sons of Anarchy.
Couldn't get into Breaking Bad at all but considering giving it another go.

GoldfishSpy · 01/05/2015 20:26

Ha Ha! We just finished FIVE SEASONS of Bones :)

LOVE box sets. I will be reading avidly for recomendations.

I recommend House, Call the Midwife and Inbetweeners.

Zephyroux · 01/05/2015 21:17

I love box sets, my favourites are game of thrones, buffy and Dr who!

MrsCaptainReynolds · 01/05/2015 21:28

I cannot believe noone has mentioned Californication (all series currently on Amazon prime) yet. Funny, sexy, with a bit of heart and soul and a great rock soundtrack. Stil feel utterly bereft at it ending.

Breaking Bad was over-rated IMO, just didn't really feel the characters.

Other favourites:

Firefly
Battlestar Galactica
Lost
House
True Blood
The Wire

Box sets are such a lifeline when you're at that stuck indoors with sleeping infants upstairs stage and can't get to the cinema. Also essential in that first 6 months of breast feeding. Would hate to be stuck with endless British soaps like our parents generation were.

Theresadogonyourballs · 01/05/2015 22:33

First box set I ever bought was Cold Feet - even though I'd watched every episode on TV! I watched the whole lot during my pregnancy, (one each evening, it was blissful).

Breaking Bad - the finale was quite simply the best thing I've ever watched on TV. I was bereft afterwards, ('There's no more! Like, ever!').

Six Feet Under - amazing TV. The box set is huge, but looks great - it has pride of place on my DVD shelf.

Dexter - still haven't finished this one. Love love love it though!

And finally, ER. This will be my next purchase. Happy memories of being glued to it each week with my mum.

PrincessUnicorn · 01/05/2015 22:43

Lost!

I love love love Lost, can watch it over and over.

Also 24, two words. Kiefer Sutherland Blush

I do like my boxSets, but I think I am the only person to hate binge watching programs. It really bugs my DP but I just like to take my time :)

ChubbyKitty · 01/05/2015 23:12

I love my Gavin and Stacey Boxset, watched it so many times! And of course Harry Potter - can't watch just one of themGrin

flirty30s · 02/05/2015 03:26

My first box set was 24. We got hooked and sat way too late in the night watching!! Have since enjoyed the wire, breaking bad, the sopranos and prison break. Our most fav was game of thrones which we watched in our first year of marriage. Binge watched downton Abby after a miscarriage. Started Orange is the new black after our little baby arrived. Needless to say we haven't watched very many yet! Some box sets remind me of significant times in my life, like a favourite scent can!! Smile

Pontouf · 02/05/2015 06:45

The absolute gold standard for me is The West Wing. I have watched and re watched it so many times it is excellent excellent TV.

Loved The Wire and Breaking Bad, both funny in places, intelligent and utterly diverting with great characters. Enjoyed House, The L Word, The Mentalist, Orange is the New Black.

Comedy-wise can't get much better than Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, Will and Grace, Modern Family, Community.

We love a good box set in this house ;)

MakeTeaNotWar · 02/05/2015 07:51

Breaking Bad hands down. Followed by True Detective
