The West Wing! Nothing else is close!
But also The Killing / The Bridge / Borgen, Mad Men, Breaking Bad. Recently enjoyed The Detectorists and currently watching The Code.

fourmonthstogo · 29/04/2015 22:11

In the early days with dd I worked my way through all the series of 24, now I'm working on the walking dead. I've also re watched all the buffy episodes and love binging on "just one more "Greys anatomy.

InMySpareTime · 29/04/2015 22:12

My favourite box set is Black Books, with Blackadder a close second.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 29/04/2015 22:27

In the past it's been Sex & the City and Mistresses.
More recently it's Mad Men and Homeland.
DH would say Games of Thrones and The Walking Dead.
And Breaking Bad is next on the list!

Gotta love a good boxset! Smile

macmissy · 29/04/2015 22:39

Deary me there are a ton!

West Wing will probably always be my favourite. Sopranos, Greys Anatomy, CSI and CSI NY not Miami though I couldn't stand that. Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, Spaced (yyyes!) Game of Thrones of course, currently working our way through Breaking Bad, Justified is ace. SPOOKS! How can I forget spooks! The funny thing is, we don't really watch TV. We only watch box sets and films! Teachers for the retro camp. Far too many, these are just off the top of my head!

elmwoo · 29/04/2015 23:12

I love box sets, I love the ones you can dip in and out of and most importantly make us laugh. My ds1 and I love modern family, we have watched and rewatched up to season five on box sets, if we h ave a spare half hour together we pick an episode and watch it and it never fails to make us laugh, we love the characters especially LIly, and some of the phrases ( "today ladies") have now become commonplace in our house. We don't h ave sky so we are eagerly awaiting the next season of modern family to come out on DVD .

defineme · 29/04/2015 23:25

Friday Night Lights
I have watched an awful lot of the sets already mentioned, but it was this one that got me through a long post op recovery. Weeks in bed passed in a lovely haze of small town American life that often moved me to tears.

GoingToBedfordshire · 30/04/2015 00:16

Six Feet Under is without a doubt my favourite box set. Just so absorbing and that ending just blew me away.

I was really not sure about the Sopranos until series 3, but then was utterly hooked. I think it was all the Christopher and Adriana stuff to reeled me in.

Enjoyed The Wire immensely and Breaking Bad. Currently watching Spiral with DH. It's good, but so graphic at times.

Love Nurse Jackie, Girls, Mad Men, Modern Family. Am currently working my was through Freaks and Geeks on Amazon prime - it's a gem.

Love a box set, but always did enjoy taping a whole series off the telly on vhs to rewatch over and over. My copies of My So Called Life, Degrassi Junior High and The Wonder Years were well worn.

Kraggle · 30/04/2015 07:26

Love box sets! I watch them rather than watching tv. American shows are where it's all at.

I've recently watched greys anatomy, bones and vampire diaries and in currently watching medium. When that's finished I'm going to start Dexter again from the beginning as I've not seen the last couple of seasons.

I watched the seasons of modern family when we had Netflix and I really rate 6 feet under as well.

Kraggle · 30/04/2015 07:27

Oh and Buffy and Angel I could watch back to back again and again!

Going back to read the thread now so I can more box set ideas!

Anyexcuse · 30/04/2015 07:28

Our all time favourite is West Wing. We're debating whether the kids are ready for it so we can start at the beginning all over again. DC are all over their own sets tho, like Parks and Rec, Supernatural etc. not sure they'll fully commit to a political drama. Love boxsets!

ErinBlockerBitch · 30/04/2015 07:35

I loved True Dectective, Banshee, Justified. The Wire

I'm currently on Lost Girl season 2, and revisiting Green Wing

Sopranos, Battlestar Galactica got me through long nights feeding the baby and rocking him to sleep.

I grew up with 3 channels, pre video recorders. It's a different world.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 30/04/2015 08:02

The Mentalist - I can just sit and watch them back to back.

For pure comfort viewing though, it's Bewitched for me - gorgeous clothes, magic, an overbearing MIL and you know it's going to have a happy ending.

sassytheFIRST · 30/04/2015 08:03

We love Suits. Really cleverly plotted, great cast including some v powerful women, fantastic clothes. What's not to love?

AlfieandAnnieRose · 30/04/2015 08:04

I'm working my way through pretty little liars at the moment. I love the luxury of not having to wait for the next episode to see what happens like we had to back in the day!
I'm also simultaneously watching Revenge and Brothers and sisters. Nothing I love more than stumbling across a good box set, I know what my weekends will be filled up with now!

Ducky23 · 30/04/2015 08:15

Soo many!

Walking dead is probably a favorite.

I loved dexter, obviously breaking bad and eastbound and down is hilarious and sons of anarchy.

Have just started watching prison break. Took a few episodes for me to get into it but now I'm hooked!

Mama1980 · 30/04/2015 13:23

So many, my 17 year old and her friends are always here for boxset marathons too.
Favourites include firefly, (my all time favourite Grin), greys anatomy, er, friends, sons of anarchy, nashville....
My dd and her friends are massively into watching house, revenge, sons of anarchy and castle at the moment.

RiaOverTheRainbow · 30/04/2015 13:38

I've just finished rewatching Leverage, possibly my all time favourite. Excellent characters and so much fun.

RedKites · 30/04/2015 13:47

I'm another that enjoys rewatching West Wing.

What's Leverage?

RiaOverTheRainbow · 30/04/2015 14:31

Here OnlyLovers. In short a group of thieves steal from rich baddies and give the money to said baddies' victims, Robin Hood-style.

OnlyLovers · 30/04/2015 14:33

Sounds ace! Thanks Ria.
