I went to a group golf lesson for the first time the other week and as there were not enough bays, all the women were told to share and the men had a bay to themselves...for an hour..and I was the only one who noticed and said anything!!!

Response from male instructor.... an hour is a long time the women might get tired 😡. Shall I name and shame?

Would be interesting to hear if I am the only one who sees these things now, when I never did in my youth?

Several Christmas cards addressed to Mr and Mrs T SimpleHoard. That is not my initial.

Some are from quite elderly people but some are from people my age (40s/50s) which I find harder to forgive.

Serves me right for using husband's surname outside of work.

Flamingosarentreal · 27/12/2021 13:13

man behind me in the checkout queue at Ikea offered to lift the medium boxed chair from the trolley to the conveyor belt for me.
Not sure how he thought it got onto the trolley or how i was going to manage to to get it in my car and home without his help.

Also my boss (male ) suggested my new younger female colleague got herself a man to take her to visit a greek island we had been chatting about. I told her to that perhaps as a modern independent woman she could take herself- his face was a picture!

Sitting at the bar vaping and a man (horsey type) told me that women shouldn’t smoke e-cigs because it spoiled their prettiness.

(He was wearing a flat cap and I said men shouldn’t wear hats because it caused baldness, Sonny Jim, and I suggested he sit there without it while I checked out his hairline.) Moron.

skybluee · 06/01/2022 21:40

On a forum dealing with a hobby of mine, a poster said:

"Women have it much easier and get away with more in today's society."

MinnieMountain · 10/01/2022 12:00

I got a “smile darling’” today. My “No. What business is it of yours?” resulted in a humph.

Drinkingallthewine · 11/01/2022 13:53

Not today but a couple of weeks ago, reverse parking into a spot at the local supermarket.

Some flute hopped off his bike to administer dramatic arm gestures to guide me into the parking spot I was already easily and flawlessly reversing into. A bit of a doddle considering there were also no cars in either adjacent spot to worry about.

I suppose my 25+ years of driving and parking experience is no match for the knowledge of a MAMIL.

Corsirosenthalbox · 11/01/2022 22:39

Financial advisor looked at our bank statement, identified the higher salary being paid in and promptly started discussing that sum with my husband.
Umm, that would be MY salary, you unreconstructed sexist git.

VelvetChairGirl · 14/01/2022 15:24

well this was years ago but I still remember it clearly

I went round my kids primary school at lunch time to comfort him as I was asked to as he was having a meltdown (he was about 6 or 7 at the time), a boy on another table loudly shouted at me to clean up his mess, the boy next to him quickly said she doesnt work here shes his mum, the original boy said so what shes a woman isnt she its her job.

I just looked at him and ignored him. (his father must be horrible).

rumred · 15/01/2022 21:23

I got a WhatsApp video call this morning, ignored it (didn't know the number). They rang again so I accepted it in case it was a friend who's in hospital. It was a a graphic view of a ranking man. Who then sent an obscene message. I don't know what to think. My number is on my website for business purposes. I messaged WhatsApp but they won't/can't do anything.
It was horrible. I don't know what to do

rumred · 15/01/2022 21:23

Wanking not ranking...

pastypirate · 15/01/2022 21:29

Walked along the main road with the dog. At like 4pm. Got wolf whistled and shouted at by blokes in a white van. Ffs I'm 42 and I was wearing leggings and a hoodie.

LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE · 16/01/2022 14:15

On the phone to the AA. Having confirmed my name is Dr LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE, and discussed my policy which was presumably open in front of her on the screen, the woman asked me if "Dr LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE" was my husband. I have a feminine name but with an unusual spelling. I said, "No, that would be me". I have raised a complaint for what it's worth but it is very wearing....

My DS 10 will be getting a male teacher after Easter due to his (frankly amazing) teacher leaving to have a baby.
When the (male) Head. Currently only male teacher in a school of say 20 female teachers called me to tell me (my ds is disabled so I need a heads up to changes) I said ' oh DS will enjoy having a male teacher for a change'. I only said it as conversation filler and because he's never had a male teacher (there not being any in the school until now). It was factual rather than value based. Head said 'yes well some of the women teachers are AS GOOD as the men. We'd get MORE men if we could'.
I could hear he was in the staff room and it was lunchtime. I hope he didn't make it our of there with his b*llox intact.
I only thought of a come back later I was so shocked.

Epiphanies · 25/01/2022 21:58

I drive a small campervan and use as a car. So multiple trips a day with DC. I get hand signalled into spaces or out of spaces at least twice a week.
As its a camper I'm regularly tinkering with things in the back. Every single time (multiple times a week) a male neighbour (there are 2 main offenders and then just passers-by too) remark 'ooo getting ready for a trip or 'off somewhere are we...'
I have a number of female neighbours. NONE of them have remarked similarly. NONE.

ikeairgin · 26/01/2022 08:10

I've got to go and beg for a repeat prescription of HRT again (every 6 months) As they say it's as little as possible for as short a time as possible (I've been on it for 9 months after 4 years of asking) I'm 50 and 3 years post menopause Fckers

LizzieBananas · 26/01/2022 08:42

@Nellodee

One of my colleagues, while fixing the toner cartridge in the copier, told me he had to "whip it out and shake it vigorously" and then said "I'm sorry, I'm not concentrating, I'm having really smutty thoughts right now." We were alone in a small office and it made me feel really uncomfortable.

The same colleague has previously expressed amazement that I didn't know how to work the microwave (being a woman and all) and tried to send me to make him a cup of tea. We are both teachers of many years experience and equal pay grade.

Please report this man. If he is indeed a teacher, he needs to be spoken to before the pupils hear sometihng similar.
Dippydinosaurus · 26/01/2022 09:00

My (new - but never again) male hairdresser. Told me a story about his friend whose life had been ruined by a female colleague. Appararently they used to 'banter' and he said something along the lines of "show us your white bits" when she came back from holiday. Said friends life was ruined because he subsequently got community service and 5 years on the sex offenders register.

I should have called him out on it but I was alone. He is the owner so no one to complain to. I mean really who the hell is going to believe that a man actually got convicted of sexual crime for that one comment. And his life was 'ruined' Hmm.

boobot1 · 26/01/2022 09:14

@Pippyweather

I run a successful business with my husband. It's in the construction industry. He is the face, the chat etc and I run the whole business side in the background.

Everyone, including my own mother, thinks I am his secretary. 😬

Yup, this happened to me tooHmm
boobot1 · 26/01/2022 09:28

@BettyBooper

Guy used hand signals to 'assist' me with reversing in Tesco car park yesterday. Pretty sure a bloke wouldn't have taken it well. Happens so fucking often lose the will. Dicks.
Yeah school run today, parked the car one of the dads smiles at me, tells me I parked like a blokeConfused
InvisibleDragon · 27/01/2022 07:40

Hired a van to do some moving. Was driving on the motorway. Never have I been treated with such deference and courtesy. Every time I indicated to overtake a lorry, people were falling over themselves to let me out, giving way etc. It was an unmarked silver van - I reckon drivers thought I was a manly man on important man business.

Never happens in my "girly" city car, which is assumed to be slow and badly driven.

IKeptYouLikeAnOath · 27/01/2022 07:45

Off to a meeting today where the only other woman in the room keeps being made to take the notes, and she's the HR Director Angry

They don't ask me any more because when they did I launched into a bit of a tirade about how me owning a vagina didn't make me a better note taker than anyone else in the room.

Nillynally · 27/01/2022 07:48

Having a private discussion with another female colleague about how being a mother and being pregnant is tiring and how we juggle part time work and child rearing. Male colleague angrily butts in about how he works full time and still raises children etc. very chippy... turns out his wife works part time the same as us and does most of child rearing.

Nillynally · 27/01/2022 07:52

Husband put in a tricky position by one of his contractors the other day- called another colleague 'a good girl'. Husband desperately trying to think how he's going to approach this all the while listening to an imaginary me ranting in his ear about standing up for women at work and then gets called 'a good boy' -he's this man's boss! 😂

BeyondMyWits · 27/01/2022 08:12

I had 3 (out of 7 booked...sigh) people turn up to provide quotes for new windows, I went with the one (only one) who did not ask me to have my husband there.

"of course I need to see you both"... my house, my windows, my money, my choice. "company policy"...hahaha, bye bye.
