I went to a group golf lesson for the first time the other week and as there were not enough bays, all the women were told to share and the men had a bay to themselves...for an hour..and I was the only one who noticed and said anything!!!

Response from male instructor.... an hour is a long time the women might get tired 😡. Shall I name and shame?

Would be interesting to hear if I am the only one who sees these things now, when I never did in my youth?

Walking the dog at the weekend, who trots up happily to hello to another dog. Male owner : your dog must be a female because she's nosy!

This is perhaps a bit far but, yesterday at about 6ish, in the supermarket carpark, just as it was getting full dark I heard someone say what I thought sounded like "filthy bitch".

I turned around to see if I had heard correctly and there was a man standing about 2m away with his penis poking out.

He then said "I bet you love anal". At this point, I ran to my car and locked the doors.

The police give precisely zero fucks.

I have a car , husband who I have been with for 5 years in total has his own. I work and bought and paid for my car by myself. We do not have kids together and do not share finances ( both have kids from
Previous relationships).

So my car breaks ( nothing major ) and I contact a garage. I tell the mechanic the issue and drop my car off to be fixed. Husband is not involved at all.

A few days later my car is fixed , I turn up to collect it and there is an invoice addressed to Mr Jersey Girl ....

I say to the mechanic , can you please change the invoice to Mrs jersey girl please as it's not my husbands car ! Get a funny look off him

For some reason I was soooo pissed ! I moved out at 16 and have always looked after myself.

Won't be going there again!! More because of the funny look than the sexist mistake !

I asked my all male maths department about a question I thought was incorrect in the maths a level text book. All four of them argued vehemently that the book was right and I was mistaken.
Turns out the book was wrong. It's well known for having errors in it, but despite my making strong (and correct) arguments, four of my colleagues tried to convince me that it was right and I didn't fully understand the topic. It wasn't and I did. They were all very convinced by each others incorrect reasons, though.

I got a WhatsApp video call this morning,ignored it (didn't know the number). They rang again so I accepted it in case it was a friend who's in hospital. It was a a graphic view of a ranking man. Who then sent an obscene message. I don't know what to think. My number is on my website for business purposes. I messaged WhatsApp but they won't/can't do anything.
It was horrible. I don't know what to do

Did you report it to the police @rumred? I doubt you’re the only woman he’s done that to. They may already have his number.

Not this week but when I started working in my school, it was international women's day assembly. Great I thought, this must be a feminist environment. Except that all the speakers were men, and many female teachers (all experienced, accomplished, some doctors), were made to watch. Im still enraged by it! I offered to run the next one if they were struggling for female representation but it was shut down and I was told not to pursue it.

Also a slightly more petty one, there is a lollipop man that I have to walk past every day, I'm not in the mood to speak to anyone at that time and always have headphones in. It has taken about a year and a half of studied ignoring for him to stop telling me to smile etc. Would definitely not happen to a man.

Teacher at parents evening .. chatting about my son improving his homework. I explained that I'm not always there as I work away sometimes and my role can be demanding, but I will make sure I keep an eye on it.

This wasn't recent but I have to add this as it was so outrageous. Anyway, I met up with my husband in a busy pub, and he had a large group of acquaintances with him. I don't smoke (but used to decades ago) and after a few alcoholic beverages, I do occasionally get a hankering for a ciggie. So I asked a man, part of the acquaintance group if I could buy one off him. He said no worries about the money, so I was ready to go outside of the pub with him and light up. Wait for it...he said I've got to ask DH if this is OK; basically asking DH's PERMISSION to accompany him to go outside to smoke! I was rather cross to say the least and did say to him it was not the dark ages anymore and that my DH was not my keeper. Then I went outside and had a smoke anyway, without that man.

I’m a registrar of births and deaths, we deal with names all the time. Even if you don’t change your surname to your partner’s when you get married, as soon as you’re married you have automatically have a maiden name, because a maiden name is the name that you use to enter into your first marriage. So in your case your maiden name is the same as your married name. Hope that helps!

Even if you don’t change your surname to your partner’s when you get married, as soon as you’re married you have automatically have a maiden name, because a maiden name is the name that you use to enter into your first marriage. So in your case your maiden name is the same as your married name. Hope that helps!

It's repulsive. I don't have a 'maiden' (ugh) name. I don't have a married name. I'm not an adjunct to a male, and I don't have any name or title announcing my sexual or relationship status in a way a man's would not.

I have one family name, the name I've been called my entire life. And it's mine.

Most of these posts are definite sexism and I'm sorry you've all had to experience it :(

But some 'experiences' here are being seen as sexist when they really aren't. Particularly the poster who rudely shut the door in the face of the energy company guy who told her to smile... And another poster who was told to smile and thinks only women receive this comment... I've witnessed both men and women be told to smile when they have a face like a slapped arse... it doesn't just happen to women.

A couple of my own examples are: 1. My DP's mother changes her hairstyle when she gets bored and tends to switch between a long bob or a short pixie haircut. I think both look lovely and suit her but she recently had the pixie cut again and my DP scoffs everytime saying he hates short hair on women and prefers the bob. 2. I love my family so much but whenever a family member needs help in the garden or DIY in the house, or need help in my own house, they call upon my brother or DP even though I am more willing and eager than they are. My brother and DP have never been very DIY-minded and it's me who has all the ideas for our house and garden and makes them happen - not my DP! I'm just not as physically strong as them so I do struggle with lifting heavy stuff

Just booked an internal US flight on United Airlines. I was passenger one. Husband was passenger 2, child was passenger 3. My name on the credit card I used to book the flight. My email address given for the booking confirmation. My title/Suffix - 'Dr'. His, 'Mr'. 'Gender', of course, was a mandatory field.

I went to amend my booking to include checked baggage and signed on using my confirmation code. I was surprised to see nothing coming up in my name. Then I noticed DH's name on the email confirmation was capitalized. Realization dawning, I entered his name against the booking code.

Voila!
