What sexist event happened to you this week? Big or small..

I went to a group golf lesson for the first time the other week and as there were not enough bays, all the women were told to share and the men had a bay to themselves...for an hour..and I was the only one who noticed and said anything!!!

Response from male instructor.... an hour is a long time the women might get tired 😡. Shall I name and shame?

Would be interesting to hear if I am the only one who sees these things now, when I never did in my youth?

Answered the door to a double glazing rep who in every sentence called me 'sweetheart'.
@RumHoney Shouldn't it just be one course record? Seems kind of sexist to assume it should be gendered.
Well, as women are slower and weaker, the record when then always be held by a man.

A far more sensible option would be that this year's top woman is now the record holder and next year, if someone beats her time, they're the record holder. And so on.

Man at work had a question I couldn’t answer so I’d get my boss to sort it out
His face was a picture when a woman walked towards him

Another was a question I could answer (and did)
He refused to take my answer and walked over to a male (who is on the same level as me)
He answered the same answer and the guy walked away happy

I was once out for lunch with an ex
He went to the lav while I paid
The guy serving was amazed I was paying as ‘that’s a mans job’

I got chatting to a man and his daughter at work when he let slip they’d been to footie training
I said ‘good for you-women’s footie is really under valued, along with other woman’s sport’
He shook my hand!
He said he was sick of ‘woman can’t/shouldn’t play sports’

Women are not allowed to do deliveries at work-‘it’s too hard for women’
(I don’t challenge this as I really don’t want to do that part of the job-in every other way they really are non sexest-whoever is around to do other jobs, does)

just watchedBilly Connolly being celebrated on Graham Norton fora ‘ground breaking’ joke about wife murder and parking a bike in her arse. Just after Sarah Everard and highlighting violence against women is finally on agenda for a moment. Two women a week murdered by their partners in UK. I know times were different etc but why celebrate in this particularly frightening time? I felt really upset. I thought he was a good bloke.

Billy Conelly a good bloke? Are you joking? I still hate him for his Ken Bigley 'joke'

No I don’t know about that. Will google.
UnRavellingFast · 20/10/2021 01:48

Just googled and feel sick. How does he get away with this?

Had an interview with a very woke company. Long lecture about their values of diversity and inclusion. How they want to find ways of working that suit everyone, work/life balance yadda yadda.

That’s great! I told them I was hoping to discuss flexible working down the line as I sometimes struggle with childcare, but ultimately make up the time and more. Well, that didn’t go down well. I got a bunch of mumbling about business needs and how they’re sure I wouldn’t want to let down my team mates. That’s that job down the fucking drain then isn’t it? A man my age would never mention that in an interview, but I just felt I should be honest now rather than asking for stuff down the line.

@LeroyJenkinssss

Currently in the middle of a massive insurance claim. I’m first policy holder, I’m the only one who has dealt with the renovation company, I am the only one on the house deeds/mortgage, which they know about as they had to get my signature for the works. Got an email for the materials. Addressed to my husband. Sigh.
Annoyingly this happens an awful lot. Our vet refers always to DP even though I set up the payment plan and the email comes to my named email and the money comes from my account in my sole name. But on another similar thread in a slightly different section on here we were all sneered at and told we were making this up.

Our ‘head of sustainability’ today told us we should not say ‘maternity leave’ it is ‘parental leave.’

:o

Did anyone point out that they were wrong?

00100001 · 20/10/2021 21:27

That was supposed to be Shock

pamplemoussed · 20/10/2021 21:53

It was a global presentation. I am aware of complaints …

namebunny · 20/10/2021 23:18

Ha, been there ‘kwiksavenofrillusername’ very famous company claimed to be very inclusive..as long as you were the right sort of diverse, ie 27 thin and trendy.

MidnightMeltdown · 20/10/2021 23:41

I just misread this thread title as, 'What's the sexiest event that's happened to you this week?'.

Was very confused when I started reading the posts... 🤣

daretodenim · 21/10/2021 20:42

I live abroad and am learning the language. DH isn't. I hire a plumber for a big job, I get the quote, correspond officially with him and speak to him about it in person on the street (he lives a few doors down). He does the work.

This week the bill arrived addressed to DH.

So true. I’m not very interesting in terms of diversity. I can’t be like the LinkedIn advert and dance on tables in heels while pouting. I just want to be able to do the school run twice a week.
Beeinalily · 22/10/2021 12:09

Oh @SherryTBangles seriously? I'll be remembering you next time I'm struggling with my shopping while the taxi driver's sitting on his arse.

Cuck00soup · 22/10/2021 17:49

Feedback on a teaching session I did this week for an assessment
to think about what scarf I wore.

Muppet made the same comment on my written feedback too.

RightOnTheEdge · 24/10/2021 09:45

Got told by a male colleague at work that I'm really lucky because I'm a woman and it's really easy for us because we get everything in the world handed to us on a plate.

notacooldad · 24/10/2021 10:43

On Friday night I was at a rock gig in Blackpool. I had my Metallica band t shirt on. I have seen Metallica 17 times here and abroad since 1990. I got asked by a bloke ( it's always a bloke) to name 3 songs by Metallica. He wanted to bet I couldn't. He then put in the caveat it couldn't be Enter Sandman, Nothing else matter or One.
Funny my son didn't get asked to name 3 songs by Slayer (his band t shirt that he had on when he was stood next to me)
Go figure eh? 🤷‍♀️

Aspergirl77 · 24/10/2021 12:57

@ProfYaffle

Left my old job because in a recent round of recruitment 2 inexperienced young men were appointed over more experienced older women.

I'm now doing the DBS check for my new job. I know from past experience that DBS can't cope with the fact that I'm married but didn't change my name. They will most likely reject the form first time round because my maiden name isn't on it, despite the fact that I don't have one. I complained last time this happened and was told that 'most' women have a maiden name so, meh, I just have to accept it.

It's likely that my check will take significantly longer than a man in the same situation and will delay the start date in my new job.

I’m a registrar of births and deaths, we deal with names all the time. Even if you don’t change your surname to your partner’s when you get married, as soon as you’re married you have automatically have a maiden name, because a maiden name is the name that you use to enter into your first marriage. So in your case your maiden name is the same as your married name. Hope that helps!
Deathraystare · 11/12/2021 19:02

@MeanderingGently

Well just imagine if all the women in the congregation took umbrage and left. Most of the congregation would disappear!

Justsotirednow · 12/12/2021 09:30

This comes from both men and women:
I’m not interested in dating, marriage or babies/kids.
The amount of people who push me to these things is incredible.
You know, the whole be a good girl, do what your supposed to do.

Also, right now I unfortunately have a fee libfem ”sex positivity” nonsensers in my life and I find these women highly oppressive.
