Started a new thread as I can see previous OP hadn’t been on for a while.

Just wishing all the parents lots of strength for the exam period, I know it can be a really stressful and tiring time for us too. Remember to take time out for yourself whenever you can.

@destiel00 it's ok to feel sad
@MinionKevin good luck with the forms

destiel00 · 08/05/2025 09:12

Dd seems ok this morning.
No idea anymore tbh

DarkChocHolic · 08/05/2025 12:53

Hopefully once the exams start, they will go quickly.
Do what ever it takes to make your and their lives easier during the next 6 weeks
Bloody exams!

destiel00 · 08/05/2025 13:56

Yeah...
She's not doing her extra curricular for the next couple of weeks.
Counselling may be going to every 2 weeks during the exam period...I'll find out next week.
I've bought a few foodie treats too 😊

destiel00 · 08/05/2025 16:16

She says exam went well.
All smiles today 😊

destiel00 · 09/05/2025 15:35

Have a good weekend, all x

DarkChocHolic · 09/05/2025 18:18

@destiel00
Glad to know yesterday's exam went ok.
Hope it's a quiet weekend

destiel00 · 12/05/2025 11:52

Good luck to all dc whose core gcse exams start today 🍀

MinionKevin · 12/05/2025 16:19

One exam down. She didn’t do English lit because of the war poetry content.

Ive spent 4 days filling in PIP paperwork for her. Why DLA doesn’t run until you are 18 is ridiculous really. I’m very worried she won’t get it especially after all this stuff in the news about them trying to get people off it for anxiety.

@MinionKevin
It's horrendous how they treat people 😡
My friend is a double amputee...her last pip renewal was rejected!
So she appealed - pointed out her legs hadn't grown back🙄
Obviously, it was reinstated with a hefty back payment!
I'm sure you will, but make sure you appeal if they reject...something like 98% of appeals are won x
I must admit I'm very glad dds school do love and relationships for the poetry section of English literature gcse...she absolutely would not have been able to cope with war and conflict.
We plod on here...
Dd might be moving to fortnightly counselling sessions. She's finding them helpful, which is good.
I'm exhausted. Not sleeping. In pain with a neck issue.
Older dd is very stressed. Dh is stressed about an upcoming work thing.
Fun times.

MinionKevin · 13/05/2025 14:49

@destiel00 apparently it’s been changed to love and relationships because so many students struggled with it. War had been chosen to appeal to boys!

Im sure I’m not going to get the PIP. She masks very well, she will also answer how people want to hear, so she just agrees with things. It’s weighted against people like her.

Really hope shes awarded it x

destiel00 · 16/05/2025 20:58

Dd looks tired but has gone out with dh for a couple of hours this evening.
It's been an OK week exam wise.
Counselling soon moving to fortnightly.
Huge issues with older dds placement so that's rather been the focus this week :(
Have a good weekend x

I hope you manage to get some rest over the weekend. The placement sounds stressful, I hope your older DD is ok.

destiel00 · 17/05/2025 07:50

Thanks x
Didn't sleep.
Older dd has a big week next week and needs to decide whether to defer.
She's devastated and has been hugely let down by her uni/mentor.
Hopefully dd will do some revision this weekend, but I'm backing off on reminding...its her exams and her future.
She has been worryingly laid back so far 😬
I think the last 6 months have been the some of most stressful of my life.
I'm planning to ask the dr for ADs.

DarkChocHolic · 17/05/2025 13:05

@destiel00
Sorry to hear things are so stressful.
Somehow these things eventually work themselves out. Though it isn't easy to go through the mill at the time
Can you take a few days off to destress?
I know you cannot run away now because of exams..hang in there.

We are plodding along
DD spending all time with bf and even staying over.
I guess I cannot say anything as she is almost 18.
I am still stubborn and haven't had him over so I guess I do need to bear the consequences of it.
I am hoping their family gets fed up of having her every weekend and eventually start putting boundaries. Wishful thinking maybe.
I am no longer worrying about mocks and A levels. It's her course and her future. Have clearly told her I won't be funding her to do nothing and have a social life. I just have to maintain my guns on that.
Hope everyone has a good weekend
Xx

destiel00 · 17/05/2025 14:37

@DarkChocHolic
I think you're doing the right thing.
Young people need boundaries. They push against them but they need them.
I'm at a similar place wrt dds gcses. She isn't doing enough revision, but they are her exams and her future.

destiel00 · 19/05/2025 10:29

Off to the Dr's today...going to ask for anti depressants
Or something
Poor older dd
She's utterly devastated and looks ill
Dd went off to her exams OK today

DarkChocHolic · 19/05/2025 11:33

@destiel00
I hear you! I had a GP appointment where I broke down. She gave me a prescription for sertraline and said I need to take a break from work for a few weeks.
I didn't go on the sertraline but switched to part time working which helped quite a bit.
I hope they are able to suggest something helpful.
Glad DD went to exams ok today. That itself is a big A*
Xx

destiel00 · 19/05/2025 13:48

Dr gave me prozac
Another appointment in 4 weeks
Dd has some lovely news today - her raw grade for her art gcse is a 9 🙌
I'm worried sick about older dd but...time will tell..

DarkChocHolic · 19/05/2025 14:33

@destiel00
That's great news on the art GCSE..well done to DD

MinionKevin · 20/05/2025 21:24

@destiel00 thats amazing. DD wasn’t in today so hasn’t got hers! I emailed the teacher as she said yesterday to remind her but she hasn’t sent it, so we have to wait till tomorrow.

@destiel00 that's great news for your DD. I have my fingers crossed for your elder dd, hopefully things will improve.

I hope the medication helps.

destiel00 · 21/05/2025 10:09

Thank you 😊
Early days re: meds as im on day 2
Older dd has neeting today re; uni so we will know one way or another

MinionKevin · 21/05/2025 13:40

DD got her raw art grade and is also probably be a 9 depending on the grade markers. A relief when she didn’t even go to lessons 2 years ago.
