@MinionKevin did he take a gap year ? . It’s really hitting me today just what we’re up against … I have to stay calm and positive but it’s very difficult as I have anxiety also - the irony is I was feeling the best I’d done in a year just before all this . I need to be strong and Im trying. Hes applied to lots of volunteers roles so fingers crossed 🤞. Feel for you all ! This has come as a bolt of the blue for me

Yes but he didn’t do anything! Just sat in his room. I did think him going back was a disaster but he seems to he making a go of it.
Not everyone is 18 like when I went to uni so they don’t even stand out anymore.

@MinionKevinwell the plan isn’t for mine to stay in his room.. he’s planning to apply to a uni he can commute to next year. Guess not all of them can cope with living in. He’s applying to volunteer then part time role. Lots of walking doing jobs in house for me. We’ve got a way to go but feeling more hopeful and positive now thank god. Thinking of anyone who is having difficulties. It’s hard

Dd still feeling low.

I'm holding off suggesting counselling again as its only been 4 months since she stopped. Should I suggest it again?
It seems to be turning 18 thats triggered this slump.
I'm really struggling to say the right things, and I'm honestly really fed up.

@destiel00 sorry to hear your daughter is still feeling low. Has she got a diagnosis ? Mines not officially diagnosed but definitely has some social anxiety . Does your daughter work or study ? It’s a slog for sure . Have to hope things get better fast

Dx of anxiety.
She's in y2 at college and loves it.
I might ask her if she wants to contact the counsellor again

Dd asked for a propranalol earlier as she felt "antsy" (?)
I asked whether she wanted to go back to counselling. She's not sure.
She's also not really able to verbalise what's wrong, which I'm finding intensely irritating.
So...another weekend I'll be feeling on edge, no doubt.
Some good news...older dd got a job!

DD has been good last few days and has some plans coming up with friends. I’m going to blame previous struggles with being unwell and not eating. She’s eating consistently now which always helps.
They have an a level class trip out this week and she’s refusing to go, I really want her to and I think she’ll regret it if she doesn’t as everyone else will go.
