Probability of fingering causing pregnancy

Please do not shame me, I’m feeling terrible and my mental health is in shambles. Here are the facts before I ask question…..

-40 YO
-2 kids conceived super easy (11 & 13)
-In between birth controls (iud next month)
day 15 of cycle (ovulating according to chart)
-partner and I opted NOT to have intercourse since we knew I am ovulating.

I’m pretty sure some semen was on his fingers when he touched me. we don’t know 100% he says not but I did see him “handle himself a few times” So yes I know yes it’s theoretically a possibility if sperm is near vagina BUT statistically how likely? I’m ready everything from “haha your an idiot it’s impossible” to “that’s how my cousin conceived”.
Im terribly concerned. Loosing sleep and can’t eat. I cannot be pregnant at this time due to mental health concerns and my marriage is failing heading to a divorce. My anxiety is sky high and I’m all over the map from convinced to knowing it’s improbable. Next two weeks will be hell waiting.
Facts that I have come across online.

At 39 my chance of becoming pregnant TRYING is only about 5-6%.
If we had gone as fas as withdrawal (did not just using this as a thought) It’s 4% chance of pregnancy. Adding those two things together gives me odds less than 0, correct?

Going nuts…..

Please help me.

@MountainVA

its so vanishingly unlikely that I'd put serious money on you not being pregnant. Try not to worry.

but I suggest you don't put yourself through this stress again, it's not worth it, is it. If you're happy to be sexually active with him while your marriage is falling apart, that's your decision, but avoid him touching you after he's ejaculated etc.

I hope you can have less anxiety once you've sorted your marriage out.

The chances are miniscule. Almost unreadable, they are so low. But...how long ago did you stop the pill? Those who have just recently stopped the pill go through a period of "hyperfertility," but that is over within weeks.

I wouldn't worry about it overly much, although I know you are going to do so.

It depends on the woman really. Took me 3 months to start ovulating again after quitting hormonal birth control.

Thank you. Took pill over a year ago so I’ve been off it a while. I was on it for 9 years after having my son.

You said you were sure you ovulated. If you can tell me how you discovered your ovulation and the approximate date I could probably help put your mind at ease.

For those discussing Plan B here is a good article that really helped me choose whether it’s worth taking or not. It’s written by a well respected OBGYN:

gatewaywomens.care/abortion-info/planb/

The concept of “well it can’t hurt”…. If it’s true that my chances of pregnancy are minuscule then I’d take that over the side effects of Plan B which include a delayed period by a week- that would really set my anxiety off!

I track on an app. I have cycles from 28-31 days. I spot before every period so sometimes it’s hard to tell what day 1 actually is. I usually count day one as having a consistent red flow.
I can tell ovulation usually bc k get tons of increased cervical music, head ache, feel more sexual etc.
day 12-14 increase in CM, egg white
day 15- wiped and blood tinged egg white
day 15- engaged in sexual contact

my next period is predicted to be Aug 8 which will be day 30.

thanks for your help.

Good Lord. You can tell it's the holidays!

QueenCamilla · 26/07/2022 02:01

What is exactly the point of tracking your cycle? To find the best day to engage in unprotected sex?

What does it mean - "mid contraception?" Were condoms sold out at SPAR?

Here's a secret: try Tesco Express and reconcile to your hearts (ahem) content.

Thank you. Yes if you spot before your period then anything that is heavy enough to use a tampon or pad is considered day one based on TCOYF taking charge of your fertility rules. (The method I follow) Based on your explanation the heavy cervical fluid does sound like you were close to ovulation. One can never pinpoint the exact day of ovulation however.

And since you were not temping I cannot tell you you were safe based on the rules. However I do recommend you reframe from any apps that predict ovulation or at the vary least only see the prediction as a mere suggestion not a promise. I almost always have those symptoms on day 14 but I always ovulate much later 11 days before my next period which is usually day 16/17. Many women vary. Some have a 9 day luteal phase some have a 16 day luteal phase. You don't know which one you are and even if you do they can always be delayed by different things such as lifestyle, nutrition or stress and major life changes.

I think as the other women said it is highly unlikely you are pregnant but it's good to be fully informed.

Based on the rules it is assumed to be safe to have unprotected sex 4 days after ovulation is confirmed based on TCOYF if your temp stays elevated for 4 days and fertile cervical mucus has discontinued.

Not all bleeding is menstration either and cannot assumed to be so unless you have confirmed ovulation. There is breakthrough bleeding. This is another reason why it is unsafe to assume anything unless one had done thorough research and you are using a BBT thermometer or a device such as tempdrop combined with regular everyday cervical checks.

Wow, you always so serious?

Could I please have essential parameters helpful in deciding between luxury sheet vinyl and luxury vinyl tiles? I've read a lot about it but still not sure...

Nope read above as other explained how it works - stopping ovulation.

This is from the website that you referenced:

How does Plan B (the Morning-after Pill) work?
Sperm can live inside your body for up to six to seven days, making it possible to get pregnant days after having sex. Plan B is a large dose of birth control medication and can work in 3 ways:
Preventing the egg from being released (ovulation)
Preventing the sperm from fertilizing the egg (fertilization)
Preventing an embryo (fertilized egg) from implanting in the uterus (implantation) by cutting off nourishment to the embryo.
In this way, Plan B acts as an abortifacient (producing an abortion).

ladydoris · 26/07/2022 03:21

Lay off the willy. You might have a slight delay in ovulation and be 100% safe. He might not have touched himself on those particular fingers, perhaps you were so wet you thought it was sperm but you were very lubricated. The worst thing that can happen is having sex now without proper protection because "all bets are off" and actually getting pregnant.
There is a very very very high chance that you never conceived in this cycle. I would have gone with the IUD copper to kill off the sperm as sperm can live quite a few days waiting. I understand your religious beliefs.
Even if egg met sperm, there is still a high likelihood that naturally there is no implantation. Nature does not work that well actually.

Nature is on your side for now if he did not lie. But he did, didn't he ? This is the part of the riddle that you did not address how safe are you in this relationship, does this man have your interests at heart ? You should not have any activity that has a 0,01% chance of creating life. And if with your anxiety what you have from him simple is ridicule, it's a bit tough. Remember that next time he wants to have a go. You have the right to say no.

Has to be within 5 days and I already ovulated. Plan B stops ovulation. I track my ovulation so I know I ovulated which is why we didn’t have intercourse

But a coil works for 5 days after, can you get your appointment brought forward?

Dr Johnson congratulated her on her “persistence in looking them up”.

Valeriekat · 26/07/2022 05:43

All of you saying take the map but I thought it was ineffective if you were actually ovulating.
It only takes 1 sperm cell unfortunately so it is possible although unlikely.
See your doctor now.

Well considering that I cannot take hormonal birth control of any kind because of health problems, I'm allergic to copper so therefore can't use the copper IUD and condoms get old after awhile. Yes I'm very serious about avoiding unwanted pregnancies with NFP. And in order for it to work you have to basically read the book front to back. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm one and done by choice. I've never had an accidental pregnancy on this method and I intend to continue being successful with it. It's actually changed my life and even though it is a lot of work this method made my life so much better in many ways and being able to easily predict my period over a week in advance had helped me plan around that.

I understand it's not for everyone and some people will hate it. A few years ago I would have said NFP people are nuts and never in a million years would I practice it. But after finding out that hormonal birth control quite literally makes me so depressed that I've tried to kill myself while taking it and it completely destroys my sex drive and makes me so tired I can't function now I love practicing it and only wish I had started doing it sooner.

Valeriekat · 26/07/2022 05:49

Sorry op. You are much better informed than I and I am actually shocked that so many people are ignorant about how the morning after pill works.
Also he had ejaculated. Hope you aren't pregnant.

Thank you all. I do have a therapy appointment tomorrow and I have medication for severe anxiety/OCD and panic attacks. Marriage has been Rocky but we have been trying to avoid divorce and work through our issues. One issue is sex. It took a lot for me to be intimate. Husband now says no sperm was anywhere on his fingers and I’m crazy. Hope is is right.

Me too, because you definitely shouldn't be having another child with a gaslighting bastard.

But you almost certainly won't.

Cautiouselectric · 26/07/2022 06:36

People on here are being incredibly mean. Of course it is your responsibility, but it is also your choice what contraception you use or not (as the case may be).
OP I suffer from hyper-fertility and have been pregnant 12 times because of it and even I have not got pregnant through this. By this alone I would suggest that it is vanishingly unlikely. I am sorry that you are going through such stress.
Also for those saying it takes just one sperm, in actual fact it does take millions as the others have to break down the coating of the egg. This is another reason why a man with exceptionally low sperm count can usually not impregnate a woman.

OP. There is no chance. Please rest easy. However, reading your responses, I really think you may be very anxious and maybe spiralling. Please go talk to your gp and discuss anxiety, coping mechanisms and what options there are to help manage this.

@Isittimeformynapyet no, I got to the post where OP detailed her husband jizzing on himself then fingering her with jizzy hands. Then decided it was TMI for me. What does it being anon have to do with it? She's still painted a picture for the mind!
