Probability of fingering causing pregnancy

Please do not shame me, I’m feeling terrible and my mental health is in shambles. Here are the facts before I ask question…..

-40 YO
-2 kids conceived super easy (11 & 13)
-In between birth controls (iud next month)
day 15 of cycle (ovulating according to chart)
-partner and I opted NOT to have intercourse since we knew I am ovulating.

I’m pretty sure some semen was on his fingers when he touched me. we don’t know 100% he says not but I did see him “handle himself a few times” So yes I know yes it’s theoretically a possibility if sperm is near vagina BUT statistically how likely? I’m ready everything from “haha your an idiot it’s impossible” to “that’s how my cousin conceived”.
Im terribly concerned. Loosing sleep and can’t eat. I cannot be pregnant at this time due to mental health concerns and my marriage is failing heading to a divorce. My anxiety is sky high and I’m all over the map from convinced to knowing it’s improbable. Next two weeks will be hell waiting.
Facts that I have come across online.

At 39 my chance of becoming pregnant TRYING is only about 5-6%.
If we had gone as fas as withdrawal (did not just using this as a thought) It’s 4% chance of pregnancy. Adding those two things together gives me odds less than 0, correct?

Going nuts…..

Please help me.

@Helpyou as OP and a million other people have said in this thread, you can't take the morning after pill if you have already ovulated. The MAP works by delaying ovulation, allowing any sperm that is still alive inside you to die off before you ovulate. Thus stopping fertilisation. If you have already ovulated (which the OP has said she had!) then it doesn't work. An egg lives for a 24 hours so if you have sex the day you ovulate the MAP isn't going to do anything. The sperm is already there alongside an egg. Ditto if you have sex the day before you ovulate, you have to extremely sharpish getting that pill down you to delay it.

vodkaredbullgirl · 25/07/2022 22:40

soon know in a few months time

jammiewhammie65 · 25/07/2022 22:41

I think 99 percent no but if you are that worried just get morning after pill

alexlyons · 25/07/2022 22:42

With apologies for levity (and for referencing Les Blimmin’ Dennis)…if it’s up there I’ll give you the money meself!

Just get the morning after pill

This

Msmbc · 25/07/2022 22:46

So many people who don't know how the morning after pill works (and doesn't work), there should be much better education.,

AnwenDolly · 25/07/2022 22:47

You will not be pregnant from what you have described.

However, I don't think any of us can properly reassure you, because I don't think risk of pregnancy is your real problem. Your anxiety is the real problem and it's your anxiety that us feeding your (probably irrational) fear that you might be pregnant.

My advice would be to seek advice from your GP about how to manage and treat your anxiety.

"Lay off the willy" is not only very funny, but it's excellent advice in the meantime.

For goodness sake TMI

lancsgirl85 · 25/07/2022 22:49

Why do people click on a thread title that is clearly very explicit and then complain that it's "TMI"? Surely you knew it would be from the title? 🤔

I'm surprised how ma u people think that with regular sex at at 40 you would have a low likelihood of getting pregnant ... not hugely different to a 20 year old! (according to the NHS)
Fertility

Most couples (about 84 out of every 100) will get pregnant within a year if they have regular sex and don't use contraception.

But women become less fertile as they get older. One study found that among couples having regular unprotected sex:

aged 19 to 26 – 92% will conceive after 1 year and 98% after 2 years

aged 35 to 39 – 82% will conceive after 1 year and 90% after 2 years

Because how on earth will everyone know just how offended they are by something they didnt need to read and chose to comment on if they didnt tell us all?!

Its reminds me of Mary Whitehouse et al watching things on TV that they knew they would find offensive just so that they could complain about them!

Has to be within 5 days and I already ovulated. Plan B stops ovulation. I track my ovulation so I know I ovulated which is why we didn’t have intercourse

Before ovulation the morning after pill stops you from ovulating. After ovulation if an egg has been fertilised it stops it from progressing (forgot in what way...maybe the uterine wall doesn't develop or something like that)

There is a massive difference between regular sex with regular PIV ejaculations and a one off masturbation with a finger that might have had a tiny amount of sperm on it.

And percentages are one thing, the actual numbers are something else entirely.

FlissyPaps · 25/07/2022 22:59

People “howling” at “lay off the willy” and “don’t finger yourself with a birdseye fish finger…”. How old are you? 12? This isn’t year 7 sex education class.

OP, it’s easier said than done. But please do not panic. When we are experiencing extreme anxiety and poor mental health it’s so easy to think irrationally. Please speak to your GP about your mental health.

All you can do re; this situation is take a pregnancy test. Do you have regular periods? If so, hopefully your next one is on time and any pregnancy tests you take in a few weeks are negative and put your mind at ease.

If you have anyone in real life you can confide in, please do x

SchoolTie · 25/07/2022 23:00

I think you’ll be fine.

I didn’t get pregnant between the ages of 14 and 17 and I was basically Sooty.

AndAnotherTwo · 25/07/2022 23:01

The emergency contraceptive pill
Both Levonelle and ellaOne are effective only if taken before the release of an egg from the ovary (ovulation). The sooner you take Levonelle or ellaOne, the more effective it will be.

From the NHS website.

Apologies. I stand corrected.

C0mfyChairP0se · 25/07/2022 23:05

I am just chiming in to agree that it's really really unlikely you're pregnant. If you are, you could be on the cover of the local paper. Joke! I know you're feeling anxious and that's awful that you're worrying so much. x

I agree that those virgins in just 17 magazine probably did go all the way and then were too embarrassed to say that. There was a girl in Ireland who got pregnant in a jacuzzi and for years I believed that until I figured out, no, wait, she had sex. Nothing to do with the jacuzzi.

MountainVA · 25/07/2022 23:09

MAP/ Plan B will NOT work after ovulation. It’s all over the internet and a OBGYN told me! Said no point in taking it b/c I’ve already ovulated. So I think many people are uninformed about Plan B in general.

Sooty! Pahahaha

caringcarer · 25/07/2022 23:11

I think it is very very unlikely you will be pregnant. But stress can make you late for your period. Do a pregnancy test if you are late for period and use condoms.

Bringonsummer19 · 25/07/2022 23:13

Ahhh OP. You are not pregnant.

I am sorry about the divorce, albeit I’m impressed you’re still being intimate

GrinAndVomit · 25/07/2022 23:13

This is such a frustrating thread.
Hope you’re ok, OP. It’s really unlikely that you’ll be pregnant. Close to impossible.

dm1818 · 25/07/2022 23:14

if this is as far as sex education has gotten, i worry for the future of our children...🤦🏽‍♀️

DaughterofDawn · 25/07/2022 23:15

I didn't use the button because I found it confusing. But I think the likelihood is low but not impossible. And I use natural family planning and yes I get pregnant very easily as well. I think the important thing is to try to keep your mind on something else until you can reasonably take a pregnancy test. How did you figure out you were ovulating? Did you use a strip test or did you use a BBT? Do you use a NFP method? If so what kind and if you have a chart I could try to help you interpret if you are comfortable sharing.
