What would happen if I didn’t collect DS from after school club?

Confusedandtired21 · 24/11/2021 17:15

Just that really? Due to be collected before 6pm
I feel beyond able to cope with life at the moment. I have Adhd, asd and bipolar. No one can help so that’s that! So if I didn’t collect him what would happen to him. Would children’s services just get involved? I don’t want this for him but I feel like I don’t have much options left. He’s not hard work or anything, he’s a lovely boy which makes this even harder. I just think he’s he would better off in a different situation with someone other than me

Nspcc keep saying but do you have any plans to end your life. But I said well I have no concrete plans but I am impulsive in nature. But doesn’t seem to be a risk unless you have concrete plans. So maybe they are right. I’m still on hold though anyway.

Hopefully they put you on hold because you are about to get some help for yourself and your family. One minute at a time, just one minute.

Confusedandtired21 · 24/11/2021 19:43

Sorry for the many messages! Lol

Well done for contacting them @Confusedandtired21 you’re doing the right thing. Hope they can help you.

Confusedandtired21 · 24/11/2021 19:44

Nspcc have contacted out of hours social services

notwhyicamehere · 24/11/2021 19:45

Please do tell them you're feeling suicidal. If they ask if you have plans - say yes. You must get help right now.
Please please please do not become a headline in tomorrow's news whilst there are people here who would give everything they could to help you.
Your little boy needs you, but if you don't feel you can cope then there are other options.
Get the phone call done- and do not stop speaking with them until Someone is on the way. Police if you need to.

LemonElephant · 24/11/2021 19:48

This is good OP, you’ve done brilliantly in taking the right steps to getting some desperately well deserved help. When out of hours social services get in touch (if they do), tell them how you didn’t even want to pick your DS up as everything is just too overwhelming, I really hope they can do something to help and you’ve done amazing taking these steps xx

Confusedandtired21 · 24/11/2021 19:51

Will out of hours children’s services take my kids?

OP posts:
LemonElephant · 24/11/2021 19:55

No ofcourse they won’t, they’ve already stated there is no safeguarding concerns. They will hopefully have better resources to help get you back on track and in a better state of mind x

Livpool · 24/11/2021 19:58

Well done for doing the right thing OP. Take care of yourself

Confusedandtired21 · 24/11/2021 20:00

Because if they would take my kids I’d rather just end it now on my own terms.not theirs

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/11/2021 20:01

They try to keep kids with parents don’t they?

My dh has serious life changing health problems, when one of his 5 consultants rings him he says he’s fine, it’s a reflex from learning in childhood that Fine is the answer the other persons looking for.

Knackeredmommy · 24/11/2021 20:03

No, they won't take your kids, they'll want to help and support you.

Confusedandtired21 · 24/11/2021 20:03

Will they even bother coming out? I don’t think they will

OP posts:
Gazelda · 24/11/2021 20:04

Hang on in there OP. Wait for the out of hours social services to make contact and then maybe show them this thread? See what sort of plan they suggest and give it a try. One step at a time.

There's a lot of us here who're on your side.

foxgoosefinch · 24/11/2021 20:04

They really won’t take them OP, but they may help you access some home support and maybe some respite support. They will be trying to help you and help your children, and they want to keep you with your kids. They know your kids love you very much ❤️

MrsSkylerWhite · 24/11/2021 20:04

So, so sorry. Do you have family or friends who can care for him for a little while, while you seek help?

How you’re feeling now is just terrible but if you have the capacity, try to imagine how he will feel if you just don’t come and he’s taken by strangers.

Confusedandtired21 · 24/11/2021 20:05

Yeah I say I’m fine and it’s a reflex also I think

If they dont come tonight you can always ring your local MASH team.

I have kids with SEN. I strongly suspect I have ASD too. Your kids need you more than you can ever comprehend. You dont have to get it all right or be perfect. Just love them. If you can do that then your doing better than a hell of a lot of other mums.

CheeseCheesePls · 24/11/2021 20:06

@Confusedandtired21 you're in a really difficult situation, but you're doing so well. Your children will see your struggles and in their little minds they will hope and pray that you will get better.
Please just take one hour at a time, and tell them you do have plans to end it, so that they take you seriously. Tell them you have plans to make it look an accident. Don't hold back.
Your kids being taken away is not the worst case scenario, you ending your life is. Maybe you need a break to get better. Hang in there.

SMBC2020 · 24/11/2021 20:08

You clearly love and care for your children very much and you will be their absolute world.
Can you get any more ADHD medication? And do you normally cope better when you're taking the medication?
You mentioned not being able to cope with uniforms and packed lunches tonight. Don't worry about them! I'm a teacher and we don't care what children wear and there's always enough food in school so that children don't go hungry.
For dinners, is the 15 year old able to make anything? We eat a lot of pizza in this house!
Your children need you and love you. Please access all the help that you can as tomorrow is a new day x

CheeseCheesePls · 24/11/2021 20:09

By 'them' I mean the support team you're talking to.
Not suggesting you tell your kids you feel suicidal!

MorganKitten · 24/11/2021 20:09

As someone who has been left with children at an ASC
Call all contacts
Call safeguarding officer
Safeguarding officer comes to site, social services are called and arrive
Reports filed

Confusedandtired21 · 24/11/2021 20:11

That’s what I’ve been looking at, that I can just get drunk and stay outside overnight and die from hypothermia and it would look like an accident but it wouldn’t be registered as suicide

If you feel you can’t cope, go to A&E as a last resort or call the crisis team but write down a two sentence explanation before you ring and read off it.
