This is a place where those of you who might need to talk to someone can post for gentle support, a listening ear and someone to keep you company when needed. Anyone who is finding it difficult to manage fears, anxieties or just the stress of virus/isolation in general and needs a few minutes away from your thoughts, come and get comfy here and we’ll chat about anything and everything. Anyone welcome as long as everyone keeps it positive, supportive and light. No arguing, no bunfights, no politics/controversy/dragging one another down.

Ah @nink that sounds lovely. Sadly after 21 years of marriage ( and more before) our honeymoon period is well over! But we are doing the crossword together each day over coffee.

Sooverthemill · 22/03/2020 11:46

How's everyone today?

All the better for seeing a cat in a basket!

The sun is shining.

I'm glad to have the normality of my work today (with bonus 10 yo boy thrown in for good measure....ahem).

Gosh, it's hard to write about stuff w/o reverting to The Main Thing.

I shall get some washing on the line. I shall appreciate my spring flowers and that I have a good book on the go.

I love this thread. It makes me focus on things to be happy about.

Hello everyone! Sorry for absence, had loads to do/think about the past couple of days. Hope you’re all feeling well and positive and finding some time for self care in amongst everything else.🌷

I’ve dug out some books I haven’t looked at in a great while, like this one, so cosy to sit and read and getting lots of ideas dishes to try. The little Christmas trees are waiting to be decorated (I’m going to make little fabric hearts today - getting back to a hobby that I’ve neglected for too long in favour of online retail therapy). I bought these trees, RRP £24, for £6 in the January sales! I do like a bargain 👍

I’ll be back, just going to have a coffee and amaretti. Did you know that you can legitimately dip amaretti in red wine?? It says so right there on the packet...I’m trying it tonight! Grin

Well, we are doing okay. Yesterday I hung washing out for the first time this year. Beautiful clear sunny days. Lifts my spirits hugely. X

Haha just seen the old boy snuck in too!

Ninkanink · 23/03/2020 09:29

@Sooverthemill we’ve been together for 12 years but we’re very much still in early days mode (lived apart for most of our relationship - much of it a LDR with weekend visits - only been living together for a comparatively short while), so it really does feel like a honeymoon. Coffee and crossword together every day actually sounds very romantic to me, in a grounded and safe sort of way. 😊

Beautiful blossoms! ❤️

I’ve ordered a cherry blossom dressing gown as an early birthday present to myself, to wear as lounge wear in spring/summer. Really looking forward to receiving it (am planning a spending on fripperies lockdown for the foreseeable future so it’ll likely be the last parcel for a while!).

@Ninkaninkthat sounds very nice. I have one of their maps of Paris gowns. It's really lovely

TheOrigBrave · 23/03/2020 15:34

Just back from a lovely bike ride with my boy. We needed that. Oh yes we did.

Sooverthemill · 24/03/2020 11:52

Hello everyone. Trying to stay calm and quiet here. It's still beautifully sunny. Old photo of cuteness

Ninkanink · 24/03/2020 12:34

Oh my goodness that is completely and utterly unreasonably cute!! 😍😍

It’s so beautifully sunny. Spring has arrived! 🌷 Ironic and annoying that my DH and I (and many others, I’m sure) are basically cocooned inside until we can determine whether or not the hoards of people are actually being sensible. I’m not complaining though - at least I’m able to be at home and not being coerced into still having to show up for non-essential work...anyway enough about that!

We will be venturing out today to pick up some meds for my daughter, so we’ll feel the sun on our faces for a short time at least.

Today I’m just relaxing, doing some very light online window shopping - trying not to like anything too much as I get obsessive and then can’t let it go, and I really don’t want to be spending on fripperies right now (plus I want to severely limit the amount of deliveries we get).

I’m still in my pyjamas! It’s that kind of day today.

Tonight we’re having a mushroom stroganoff and I’m really looking forward to It, it’s so delicious.

I took my coffee outside and sat in the sun just before 7 am, with my dog, and just enjoyed the warm rays on my cheeks. Just for a few minutes. Not a soul in sight, not a single human sound.
I was really really grateful to have had this chance.

Ninkanink · 25/03/2020 10:13

❤️ I love early morning solitude. I don’t sleep well at the best of times, but here and there I suffer very badly with insomnia and will just have to be up through the whole night. As much as I don’t like it, I always find the dawn so beautiful, so peaceful. I’m glad you got to feel the sun on your face today.

It is DS2's birthday today.
He can spend the whole day on the XBox and his first Smartphone if he likes.

I am working. It is sunny.

We can do this!

Ninkanink · 25/03/2020 10:30

Happy birthday to your ds! 🎉🍰🥤

Not feeling very well today ( not to do with any virus) but it's sunny and I have this cuddly chap hanging around

Today it's warm enough to be outside, truly glorious after a very cold start. So beautiful

A thread for calm - peace, happy thoughts, support.
Ninkanink · 26/03/2020 13:33

Is glorious isn’t it? I live in a flat so I can’t sit out in the sun (we are considering taking very early morning walks) but I’m enjoying the sunlight streaming through the windows, and I can hear birdsong outside.

I feel grateful for everything we have.

Wishing everyone peace, calm and joy in the little things, today.

Struggling today.
10am and I'm out of resources to keep the household happy.

Ninkanink · 27/03/2020 10:25

❤️

Have you got Disney+? If not I’d consider it money well spent if you have children/teenagers! I think they’re doing it for £49 for a year, or £5.99 pm.

OP posts:
TheOrigBrave · 27/03/2020 10:31

I am going to get it I think.
I can't have him watch telly all day though.
I'm trying to work and I just hate, hate, hate not being able to manage and having to tell my boss - it's such a single working Mum cliche.

Sorry.....this is meant to be a happy and calm thread.
