This is a place where those of you who might need to talk to someone can post for gentle support, a listening ear and someone to keep you company when needed. Anyone who is finding it difficult to manage fears, anxieties or just the stress of virus/isolation in general and needs a few minutes away from your thoughts, come and get comfy here and we’ll chat about anything and everything. Anyone welcome as long as everyone keeps it positive, supportive and light. No arguing, no bunfights, no politics/controversy/dragging one another down.

Oh where did you all go?

Sooverthemill · 10/05/2020 14:06

I'm fine. Wishing the sun would come back!

👋 hi everyone.

I’m okay, ticking along I suppose. Have got on top of all the chores and little jobs that needed doing so I’m feeling good about that.

@SoMuchToBits I’ve been on the thread to catch up with goings-on in Playmoland but haven’t been commenting. 🙂

@TheOrigBrave I bought a cross stitch kit, so perhaps you can treat yourself to a make up item! Either a lipstick or a fancy lip balm, perhaps?

TheOrigBrave · 11/05/2020 15:32

Aww, you're sweet. Thank you.
I don't wear lip stick, but do like lip balm.
I do like nice body lotions so that might be a nice treat. I was also looking at new bedding - a bit more £££ than a lip balm!

FIL (who I have been caring for a great deal) declined quickly and is in hospital.

I am running properly again (after my sprained ankle). This is GOOD. Nothing chases the blues away like a good run.

Ninkanink · 11/05/2020 15:38

Oh you’re definitely right on running. Used to run quite seriously but had chronic sever plantar fasciitis for years and sadly it crops up straightaway again if I try to run so I’ve had to accept that it’s no longer for me.

I’m sorry about your FIL. 💐

You could still treat yourself to a lipstick - just for fun! If you get a very light one that goes perfectly with your colouring, you can wear it at home until you’re used to it and by the time we all get back to normal it’ll seem like you’ve always worn it! Bobbi Brown crushed lip colour is great - it’s a lipstick that feels like a balm.

We just bought new bedding in a vintage floral pattern (very different to all our other bedding which is very subtle and neutral, no patterns) and it makes me happy every time I look at it!

This is a lovely thread.. I feel more peaceful reading it!

TheOrigBrave · 11/05/2020 16:44

Hmmm, maybe I need some new havianas?

Things I look forward to every day.

  • putting everything aside to watch an old episode of Waterloo Rd with my son. We snuggle on the floor with a huge bean bag and duvet.
  • playing Candy Crush (just 5 games in bed)
  • my decaf Tassimo once the jobs are done
  • my book (even if it's just one page before the Kindle drops on my head)
  • tucking my son in bed and him telling me I'm his favourite.
  • (an odd one) when I wake in the night and it's just me. No one asking anything of me.

Other things: finding a good play/drama on R4 (any recommendations?), or a good audible that doesn't need too much concentration.

  • my sport (I know, I know...I do go on about it).
TheOrigBrave · 11/05/2020 17:07

havaianas

Ninkanink · 11/05/2020 17:21

Perhaps new havaianas and some fab new nail varnishes for summer manicures?

OP posts:
TheOrigBrave · 11/05/2020 18:24

@Ninkanink you are a BAD influence!
I have bought some new havianas.
You know what else? I'm going to ask the lady who does my brows to book me in for a manicure when she opens again.
She txt me today to check how I am so it must be a sign.

Back from run [sprinkles endorphins about]

Ninkanink · 11/05/2020 18:47

😁😁

I’d actually meant to say new varnishes for pedicures! To go with your flip flops...

I can’t wait to be able to get my gel manicures again. Not even so much for the varnish - I could get a lamp and do it myself - but because I’m absolutely no good at the filing.

OP posts:
TheOrigBrave · 11/05/2020 22:41

I have two words to say about pedicures - Runners Feet. I do sometimes throw a bit of varnish on in the summer but Im not spending money on something that'll last one long run!

Ninkanink · 11/05/2020 22:54

Oh yes...I’d totally forgotten about that little issue.

I wasn’t ever that serious, tbf.

Flip flop joy

TheOrigBrave · 14/05/2020 11:38

Hello Random Online People,

Can I have some support please? I find it SO hard to ask for it RL.

Horrid morning. Again.

I've told my boys that WE ARE going on a family bike ride later.
DS2 said it was boring. I told him too bad - I'm doing my best for him so he can do what I want today.

So there.

Ninkanink · 14/05/2020 12:11
Flowers

It’s rough isn’t it.

I love your joyful flip flops!

A bike ride will be good and your DS will be better for it, so yes, he can do what you want for today.

🍰 and ☕️ for you!

SoMuchToBits · 14/05/2020 22:11

I'm still chilling with my plastic people when not at work. Although I did clean my house today. And had a lovely takeaway from the local Turkish this evening, which has just reopened!

Treatedlikeamaid · 15/05/2020 08:08

So with you Orig! But we’ll done for getting him into a bike! Was secretly delighted to overhear another mum getting cross with her kids while I was dragging mine on a walk ( manage about 1 a week) small things!
Flip flops are lovely!
Sun is out! Time to leap out of bed! ( didn’t quite make 6 am run😀) and I’ve bought Illy coffee, my favourite! Have a lovely morning and thanks for this thread- very calming x

TheOrigBrave · 15/05/2020 08:43

They refused to come on the bike ride.
Yesterday was not a good day at all, but today is a new day.

Sunny love to you all

Ninkanink · 15/05/2020 10:15

Sunny love back to you! 🌻🌻🌻

I didn’t show you my cross stitch kit! I may have been a little ambitious (haven’t done any cross stitching in years, and only ever with little printed kits, so I don’t know what I was thinking...)

It’s 14” by 10” 😧 and requires actual reading of a pattern, and gridding beforehand to keep track of stitches, and I’ll probably still be working on it this time next year! But I’m sure it’ll teach me patience...

I'm having a truly sh**y time at the moment as DD is really poorly and I'm struggling to find time for myself. DH is still working sill hours (NHS management) and when he's not working he does need to chill. I can't go out anyway but couldn't because I'm shielded. So annoying. Trying to do my yoga every day, just started antibiotics ( very pleasant telephone consultation) and to read and knit.
