This is a place where those of you who might need to talk to someone can post for gentle support, a listening ear and someone to keep you company when needed. Anyone who is finding it difficult to manage fears, anxieties or just the stress of virus/isolation in general and needs a few minutes away from your thoughts, come and get comfy here and we’ll chat about anything and everything. Anyone welcome as long as everyone keeps it positive, supportive and light. No arguing, no bunfights, no politics/controversy/dragging one another down.

Good morning everyone! [tea] and Cake for everyone, as always!

Today I will be working on a sewing project for my Christmas theme this year - little fabric hearts to go with my little tiny trees. 🎄

Afternoon, just snuggled up on the sofa with mum DC watching up and trying to keep positive!
Hope everyone else is having a nice day Smile

I've managed to get in some yoga this morning, I usually do it every day but I've not been well recently, and that really helped my mood. I'm not so much worried for myself but for others really. Here's a picture of one of my many animals looking super cute

Hi!

Yoga is great for mindfulness isn’t it. I’ve only ever dabbled but I might take it up a bit more seriously in weeks to come.

Many animals you say...I’d like to designate you as resident pet photo provider, if you don’t mind? The thread would definitely benefit from a steady stream of cuteness.

Anyone else who has pets please do post your favourite pics too!

I’m currently watching a YouTube perfume collection video and thanking my lucky stars that I never got heavily into luxury perfume because that could get real expensive real quick if you’re a magpie like me! I have a few but mostly I just buy on the high street. I do love the beautiful bottles though, they’re like little works of art! Maybe one day I’ll stop buying bags and then I could actually justify a small collection of extra special fragrances (uh oh...here I go...).

Checking in. I don't have any pets, much to my kids' chagrin.
I know a house rabbit and a mini dachshund though.

I read about 1 page of my book last night. Next thing it's 3am. I'd taken my glasses off and must have nodded off before turning off the Kindle.

Ninkanink · 19/03/2020 16:17

We had a wonderful rabbit who was just like a little puppy. He wasn’t a house bunny exactly but he had a hutch and then free run of the garden as well, even at night, and spring to autumn we would usually leave the conservatory door open and he would come in to see us whenever he wanted to. In the winter he would come and pop his head up by the glass door to be let in. He spent hours at a time inside with us being snuggled or just chilling off in the corner and he also used to come and hang out with us when we’d eat in the garden, and played ball too. Rabbits are very intelligent. He lived a long and very happy life, much longer than most rabbits live, and our vet said it was probably because he was treated much like a member of the family like cats and dogs typically are. He was a great bunny. I haven’t got photos on my iPad so I can’t post any just now.

I don't have a pet but I have visiting squirrels who think they're pets Hmm I've tried to explain that it's not my fault that they're on reduced rations at present but they don't believe me. One of them has spattered muddy paw prints all over the glass door to the balcony as a protest. Little sod Grin

Ninkanink · 19/03/2020 18:06

Haha at muddy footprints of protest!

Can I join? I'm also on the mundane chat thread and it is preferable to the rest of MN at the moment!

Absolutely, everyone welcome! Flowers

Thank you for this thread. I love the idea of reading to teens mine are young teens. Can you recommend something nice but not boring I could try so they don't roll their eyes at me when I suggest it? Thank you

paranoid56 · 19/03/2020 20:58

I'm content, after 5 months my son is home, we're snuggled up on the sofa and thank you for the support.

Ninkanink · 19/03/2020 21:00

I’m so glad to hear that. 💐 wishing you both the very best and much happiness and contentment.

Hey everyone, here is a little pop of colour to start your day off beautifully!

Today I’m going to have a lovely long soak in the bath, give my feet a pamper session and do a pedicure so that I can wear my pretty new slippers (last order I made before officially going on spending lockdown).

Wishing you all a positive day.

superisha If they are Harry Potter fans then that's always a safe bet. The HP fans I know have read and re-read the books many times.

Here is a photo of the tea we’re having with our hot cross buns today: earl grey - I love the orange peel and cornflowers, so pretty!

Hope everyone is chilling out today. Am cooking celeriac soup to make sure I use it up, making croutons with stale bread and trying to work out what veggie curry to make! Plus listening to my brilliant audio book and knitting ( in between the usual)

TheOrigBrave · 20/03/2020 11:33

Working, not chilling, but I like my work and find it a good constant at difficult times.

But me and DS1 are going on a bike ride together soon.

Ninkanink · 20/03/2020 11:34

What a very lovely doggy!

Sooverthemill · 20/03/2020 11:46

@nink he's a very naughty young boy! He's lying on his toy box having tipped everything out. He is a bit pent up at the moment as DH WFH every day and usually he gets extra walks but DH far too busy trying to sort out continuity plans for his bit of the NHS

Sooverthemill · 20/03/2020 11:46

Oh and his name is Percy (the dog)

Sooverthemill · 21/03/2020 10:51

This is my old boy (11) who is recovering from surgery. We thought he had cancer but all 3 masses were benign! Yay.

DH nipped into town and panic bought artichoke hearts in a can and walnut whips. Gotta love him!

I managed yoga today and I thoroughly recommend Yoga with Adriene. She has put together a kind of soothing/ gentle/ when life is crap playlist called 'yoga for uncertain times' here if anyone jnps interested. Stay safe everyone

Ninkanink · 21/03/2020 11:05

Oh how lovely. I’m so glad your old boy is okay.

Flowers to all today. We are hunkered down completely now, not planning on going to any shops or public places for 2 or 3 weeks, and so we are treating this extended time together at home as a cosy home honeymoon (we got married last month), enjoying the simple things in life and feeling immensely grateful that we have the privilege to do this.

Today I’m dressed in my new pretty pyjamas, a coordinating dressing gown, fluffy slippers with pearl and diamanté embellishment, and feeling quite elegant.
