Day 1 of this adventure. I’ve got a headache but will soon be going to bed.
My eating window today was 8am-4pm. I’ve got so much to shift & hope I can keep this up. Anyone else want to join?

I started this week too. Day 3 today.

My eating time is 10-6 but need to adjust it a bit as I have a meal out tomorrow. The plan is not to eat before midday tomorrow and stop eating at 8pm.

Find it hard to get all my calories in the eating window (1300)

How much do you have to lose?

chocolatelover91 · 13/05/2024 20:12

Hi there! I started 16:8 a few weeks ago! This is my 4th week and I'm already 10 lbs down!

The headaches honestly soon shift! I'm already doing 20+ hour fasts. Longest I've done so far is 23. I'm currently on 22 and a half hours now and about to have tea! I basically just do 1 meal a day now! I noticed you posted this 5 days ago, how are you getting on with it now? 🥰💜

goingdownfighting · 13/05/2024 20:49

That's amazing @chocolatelover91. I'm day 5 and hit a bit of a wall. Hanging in there and trying to push through. Any tips would be grateful.

Beachcomber74 · 14/05/2024 23:20

Hi! Weighed in today at Boots and down 5lbs in a week so really pleased. I have an awful lot to lose. 5 stone…gulp.
@chocolatelover91 that’s amazing well done. @goingdownfighting Welcome!!
As a greedy foodie & grazer the strictness of the window really helps me. First time in ages that my stomach rubbles..normally just give in. My window has been 8-4pm it makes for a long evening but I prefer to have breakfast, lunch & final small early tea at 3:45pm

@chocolatelover91 @goingdownfighting Thank you both for replying! My first thread & after checking for update on first day I forgot about it. How much have you got to lose? Are you eating healthily in your window? I read that UPF aren’t allowed but I’m just trying to not eat between meals or graze. Headache has improved.
In the fast period I’ve had a splash of skimmed milk in tea as need some comforts!!
@chocolatelover91 22 hours that is pretty hardcore thought 18-6 was bad enough-are you coping?!!

chocolatelover91 · 15/05/2024 17:42

So I have about 4 Stone to lose. So I would much prefer to go without eating all day and just have one meal with my husband in the evening. So we eat in the evening around 8 after my 1yo goes to bed, and then after tea I won't eat then till the following evening pretty much! I have done 2 lots or 23 hours and 1 16 hours this week so far. It has its moments don't get me wrong but I feel so much better for it and I sleep great. Which on turn, if I sleep good, then I can manage on just water for the day! Going well so far anyway! How are you doing today? 😀❤️

chocolatelover91 · 15/05/2024 17:46

I'm not overly healthy as I don't do salad or fruit 🙈 or fish lol and only some veg! But Monday night to Friday night I have 1000 cals only which I'm finding is plenty at the moment. And on weekends I enjoy whenever and don't fast but I'm mindful of what I'm eating! And drinking to a point 🥂🍷🤣❤️

Beachcomber74 · 15/05/2024 21:12

@chocolatelover91 Wow impressive that you can keep going all day. Nice to be able to have supper together. I did 8-4pm today so am feeling pretty hungry now but more willpower than I’ve had in ages. Tomorrow I’ve got a supper out so I’m going to shift the window to 1-9pm but not sure if I’ll make it till 1pm so will see. I definitely need strict framework to work in or I will find a way to “cheat”

@Beachcomber74 you are off to a flying start, well done! Yes I try and stick to the rules. I find once I bend the rules it's a slippery slope. The biggest advantage of fasting is that the rules are basic!

@chocolatelover91 you are bossing it! I'm looking forward to see how much you've lost.

I have spoken to a few people who are doing longer fasts. They are all doing it differently but all have had amazing losses. 20lb plus for my 3 colleagues at work.

I'm having an ok week. I didn't sleep well at all last night and I've had a stressful day but have kept to 16h and 1200 cal so I'm going to go to bed. I'm finding hydration a pain as I'm constantly going to the toilet but hey ho.

My clothes are definitely gliding on smoother, and I'm already losing a lot of bloat.

I've got a busy few days so hopefully I'll remain distracted.

I'm slowly trying to bring exercise in. Did lunges and squats today.

Yes eating together is important to me. And the nice thing is, that I spend some of the fast sleeping so I don't notice 🤣🙈

Everyone is so different on what suits them, there's no right or wrong. 🥰 Hope you enjoy your supper out! Where are you off to? 😀💜

Ooh yeah you see, there are days that'll test you, but then it's so easy to jump back on the train as I call it, if you do have to stop for a bit!

When you say about clothes, I want to start noticing clothes and how they fit, rather than have go obssess over the scales!

Lunges and squats. Ouch! One thing I've always struggled with 🙈🤣

Beachcomber74 · 15/05/2024 22:43

@goingdownfighting @chocolatelover91 OMG can’t believe you’re throwing exercise into the mix.
Hope you sleep 💤 better tonight.
Kids school are hosting supper with the Head. I am usually so greedy as it’s a buffet style set up but having passed the chocolate in garage today & survived I’m going to keep up this unusual surge of willpower!
Keep it up…we can do this?!!!

goingdownfighting · 15/05/2024 22:51

@Beachcomber74. These are tests!!!!! Make sure you include some complex carbs at the end of your fast to even out your blood sugars. You don't want to be near a buffet if you're coming down sharply from a glucose spike.

Just stay on the other side of the room with the thin people.

Obviously I'm not still sleeping. Is this the bloody energy burst that my work colleagues keep banging on about?

I'm aching after exercise too.

shorttwoshot · 15/05/2024 22:56

Hi ladies Smile

I'll join you in your thread....I started 16:8 intermittent fasting last Tuesday and have lost 6.5lbs so far. I'm skipping breakfast and eating 12-8pm but not super strict on timings.

I've found it so much easier than I expected. It's the first diet where I've not been hungry, which is ironic considering I'm fasting!!

Greenmayleaves · 15/05/2024 22:57

I am really interested in this so following the posts to get some ideas.
I think I could manage to fast from 8.30pm to 12.30 lunch time, with just black tea and coffee in between.

Well done everyone for your willpower and big losses.

Jegersur · 15/05/2024 23:03

I’ve been doing intermittent fasting 16:8 for a couple of months and find it easy. I do 11am till 7pm as the eating window. But I don’t want to lose any weight. I’m pretty slim already.

Beachcomber74 · 16/05/2024 07:06

Welcome @Greenmayleaves @Jegersur @shorttwoshot

@goingdownfighting hoping you slept abit last night. That’s made me laugh staying with the thin people they are all super slim & probably won’t eat much.
Have woken with a headache which hopefully a tea will shift I do have a splash of skimmed milk for sanity.

Have a good day all. The hot weather last week motivated me to knuckle down I feel so envious of people confidentially wearing summer clothes.

SallyWD · 16/05/2024 07:29

I've been doing this for years. It's great! I just want to say the first two to three weeks are tough as your body adapts to a new eating pattern. Stick with it and then it becomes really easy!

Beachcomber74 · 16/05/2024 23:38

@SallyWD Did you lose weight initially with it? Week 2 for me & easy to follow.
Today I did 1-9pm. I never thought I’d manage to last till 1pm then had THE most delicious lunch. We have self service buffet at work & they make amazing salads & I had a poke bowl too.
Supper out tonight was served at 8:45pm so just made it & then by the time cheese & pudding was on offer the window had closed & didn’t miss not having it. I’m still following this which is amazing for me as I usually have zero willpower & self sabotage every moment possible.

Keep on keeping on y’all. Sleeping in spare room tonight to give DH break from my snoring another good reason to loose weight….

I lost weight quickly at first then it slowed down but I was still losing. I'm now maintaining but I'm a healthy weight and don't need to lose more. I do eat a lot in my window and still maintain so that's good!

Beachcomber74 · 17/05/2024 23:27

@SallyWD that’s great that you’ve got to where you need to be & are maintaining.
Today has been fine window was 8-4pm & I’ve been out tonight but met everyone after they’d eaten to avoid sitting there with an empty plate!!
Hope it’s ok to change timing of window to suit my day. Wondering what it would be like to actually lose a stone so then it would “only” be another 4 stone to shift…5lbs down so far weighing in on Tues really hope I will have lost some more of this baby fat (babies are now teenagers!!!)

Beachcomber74 · 21/05/2024 23:39

Hope everyone is doing well. I lost 3.5lbs today so am really pleased.
Thats 8.5lbs in 2 weeks though I do have so much to lose but I’m pleased to have made a step in right direction. This week has been good & I feel motivated to continue. In my window on Sunday I had a pudding but other than that I’ve not had any HPF or unusually for me craved any. Oh I did have a hot cross bun then panicked as dog ate the remaining 3 & raisins are bad for them; she bounced back & now I’m on track she is definitely greediest in our family.

Morning everyone! Yes all good here! Well done on your loss op! Bloody amazing 🤩💪
So this is week 5 for me and I'm already 11lbs down! I weigh every Friday, and on weekdays manage around 22-23 hours now! Depending on what time tea lands after busy day etc. Last night I ended my fast on my Life app right before tea, just 10 mins short of 24 hours. I was so tempted to wait but food would have gone cold! Haha! I'm noticing I'm sleeping so much better too! It's just become a new way of life for me now having one meal a day. It's great 💜🥰

goingdownfighting · 22/05/2024 18:21

Omg well done everyone.

I was another 2lb down last Sunday.

I'm flagging a bit but still fasting! I'm still not feeling or seeing the benefit but I'm sure it will be worth it. My hormones are all over the place so that's probably contributing to the meh feeling that's following me around.

The next steps for me are maintaining the fasting and adding supplements.

I've also booked my first Pilates reformer session which I'm looking forward to. I'm achy and I'm holding a lot of tension in my muscles. So want to stretch it all out.

OMG nearly 24 hours that is awesome. 11lbs is great. Do you have much to lose?

I have now moved from dangerously obese to obese! With BMI! Next challenge is to get to Overweight. Oh yikes it’s a long journey. We’ve got this!!
