Hi guys, can I hop in?

I am getting married in just under 8 weeks.
I had big plans to lose 2 stone over the summer, and have failed horribly. I've lost 9lbs but it's taken me nearly 5 months of ups, downs and plateauing. I am the carb queen.

I am currently 10st 1lb (5ft 3). I would love to lose a stone in 6-7 weeks.

I've eaten about 1000 calories today, going to ease into it ready for Monday start :)

Addidas · 03/09/2022 18:07

I had 200 cals of dark choc and am now at 1100. So off to do a hit workout. Prob won’t have lost tmrw
@PhoenixMama I hate that. Stick with it prob be down tmrw. Oh I spend ages deliberating about stuff like that and then end up drinking loads ! I hope u manage better

TarasChoc · 04/09/2022 16:00

I'm just popping on to say goodbye and good luck to you all. I'll check in to see how you are all doing but won't be really posting here.
Since starting here I've realised what really works for me is intermittent fasting . It was what I ended up doing most days and I find it relatively easy.
I've started my own thread in the fasting forum so will be updating my progress there.

PuppetEars · 04/09/2022 16:54

I usually don't feel hungry/eat until around lunch time then don't stop eating til about 7pm or later.
Having read through the book properly last night, I made my eating window 9am - 4pm today.

I didn't have time to cook so snacked on mixed nuts and greek yoghurt! I also had a few cups of coffee with oatly barista - this is actually pretty high in carbs (due to the veg oil?) so will have to wean myself off of oatly!

How many carbs do you aim for in a day?

PuppetEars · 04/09/2022 16:54

Oh, forgot to say - kitchen closed at 764cals.

PhoenixMama · 04/09/2022 20:14

Hi all,

Didn't get to weigh in this morning but had a bigger food day due to hosting a work brunch this morning. I'm feeling down today but I didn't stop at the corner shop for crisps and chocolate, so I guess that's something.

Really wish I could get into intermittent fasting but in regular times I'm up at 5:45 for gym/exercise/long walk each morning and then often we don't get home till 7pm so very unlikely I could do 12 - 8 without keeling over. Although I do try for 10 - 8 which is still 14 hours fasting I guess.

This week is going to be really tough - first week back at the gym, a work brunch & coffee meet up tomorrow, and a big fancy dinner on Weds. I told a friend I wasn't going to drink at the dinner and they warned me that I may hate it sober (especially because everyone drinks at it). I just have zero will power - it's true shameful!

Hope you've all had great weekends and tomorrow's weigh ins are positive!

<slopes back in>

Two weeks of eating everything on holiday and I can't even bring myself to get on the scales. I'm not doing it until later in the week after a few days on plan. It'll just depress me.

I actually said to DH one day 'I'm sick of all the food now' before eating some more. Blush

Jeans felt tight last night.

Going to supermarket this morning to stock up on the right foods. Poor DH has had to go straight back to the airport for work but at least that means I can get a few early nights in with my book to avoid the temptation to eat in the evening.

FairyCakeSprinkles · 05/09/2022 06:37

@PuppetEars, a wedding... so exciting! Looking forward to hearing how you get on, I think a stone in 8 weeks is realistic. In a lot of ways this is all easier with a fixed deadline.

Addidas · 05/09/2022 07:13

@FairyCakeSprinkles welcome back. Exact same here! I got back on a few days later and horrified to see a 9 pound gain!!!! I’ve lost 5 in 5 days but not lost any over the weekend. Am annoyed but I had a good holiday. Think I let some nibbles slip through my mouth this weekend So gonna not let that happen. Really wanted it all off in a week but unsure. Hope ur gain not as awful.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 05/09/2022 07:59

Hi I am in France desperately trying to avoid carbs. Can’t find a decent supermarket much too my amazement and so have spent the weekend eating bread and pasta. Feel awful. Any tips for what to eat when I finally do find a decent supermarket? Eating out?

Addidas · 05/09/2022 09:14

@SilverLiningPlaybook

cheese and yoghurt and ham when supermarket found!

fish and cheese in resturants! Lots of veg. Buttered is fine as low carb and will fill u. any meat really should be ok in France as they make a lot of beef duck chicken etc. just ask for no rice or frites on the side!

enjoy.

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 05/09/2022 21:12

@Addidas, I haven't even been able to face what the number might be! Will give it a few days.

New name... getting carried away on a book review thread and wanted a themed name!

So... today has been ok. Not where I need to be (the two crackers I stuffed in with lunch are proof of this) but a massive improvement on where I have been.

Given the seasons are about to change I thought I'd better start looking at soup recipes. Made this today and enough left over for tomorrow. It was nice.

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 05/09/2022 21:13

@SilverLiningPlaybook, I cannot give advice in this respect. I ate everything and anything on my holiday. Sigh.

🤣🤣

Addidas · 06/09/2022 07:27

@SilverLiningPlaybook i did too! But I know the theory!
1.5 off overnight . Another small bit then back to pre holiday weight. Estimating 1.5 weeks to get it off

Addidas · 06/09/2022 07:28

1.5 to get it all off that is. So hopefully gone in 4 days

PuppetEars · 06/09/2022 09:14

Oh my god, trying to stick to an early eating window of 6.30am - 1pm was an epic fail yesterday. I had 850 cals of healthy food, then ate about 3000 calories worth of junk in the evening.

I think I have serious issues!

Needless to say I'm going to stick to a later eating window as I naturally don't feel hungry til lunch. Big oopsie.

PuppetEars · 06/09/2022 09:17

Thank you @FairyCakeSprinkles ! Really bad start yesterday with my evening mega-binge (chocolate and an entire box of flapjack bites ) but shall start again today. Good luck with your week back :)

PuppetEars · 06/09/2022 09:19

Sorry for spamming...just wanted to also say that I slept like shite and feel like utter shite this morning too. Sugar is not my friend.

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 06/09/2022 09:40

The only meal I can contemplate cutting out is breakfast and I have to eat relatively late as I'm always doing something with the kids early evening so my window is 12.30 - 8.30ish. I think I'd eat my own arm if I had to stop eating after lunch.

@PuppetEars, to begin with I just had to go up to bed at 8pm to stop myself snacking. It did work though and I didn't find the habit as hard to break as I'd expected. The trouble with evening snacking is once I start I can't stop which is why I had a brownie and half a bag of kettle chips Sunday night.

Braved the scales....3.5lb on which is much better than I'd suspected. At the rate I lose weight it'll take me a few weeks to get back to pre-holiday weight. I'd like to lose a stone by Christmas including the 3.5lb. Surely that is realistic even for this weight loss tortoise??

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 06/09/2022 09:40

And yes, @PuppetEars, you feel so much better off it even if it is completely delicious at the time.

PhoenixMama · 06/09/2022 10:09

Morning all!

@PuppetEars No way I could stop eating that early either - at least you know now! And yes feel you on the sugar!

I think I'm down another lb on last week. 'Think' because my scale is being a pain and there's a 3lb difference depending on where I put it on the floor lol But I'm going with the lower number.

Yesterday I actually enjoyed my brunch and ate healthily - no I didn't have the pancakes with bacon I would have usually ordered but my 'Mediterranean' breakfast was very delicious and low calorie.

@SilverLiningPlaybook I definitely found the 'meat & salad' combo pretty easy in France and just wanted to say 'good on you' for trying to stick to it on holiday, I'm terrible on holiday!

Have decided not to drink at the event tomorrow and have told a colleague who will be helpful that I can't do to meds. Bit of a lie but one that people respect more than 'i don't want to!'

Addidas · 06/09/2022 15:49

Wow well done @PatChaunceysFruitCake I was clearly a diaster while away! I was gone 14 days and it was Italy so very carb heavy! (Excuses!).

@PhoenixMama hope u can stick to ur plan or no drink tmrw I struggle at events! I have something this weekend and I’ve decided if all holiday weight gone I’ll have a few drinks

Been good today. 920 cals once I close my window at 430….

VenusInfers · 06/09/2022 16:23

@Addidas I also had an Italian holiday - it’s v v hard to refuse carbs when they come in the shape of amazing filled pasta or gelato or huge ripe nectarines. Sigh….

@PuppetEars your new plan sounds like a good one. Got to work with your body clock.

@PatChaunceysFruitCake That goal sounds totally doable! 😊

I am trying to weigh weekly so next hop on the scales is Friday. Been going well so far. Slightly over on Saturday due to visit of American cousin I hadn’t seen for several years. Had on plan breakfast and lunch, walked over 20,000 steps showing him the town and was doing great. Then had a slimline gin and tonic on an empty stomach and thought what I really needed was another one and a chunk of bread and butter before dinner. Honestly…

PhoenixMama · 07/09/2022 11:23

Morning Down another 0.5lbs and now lower than last week - just in time for this big dinner tonight lol. I think I need to accept that if I can maintain this week then that's a lot better than it would have been if I wasn't watching what I ate.

Unfortunately I'm feeling cold-y and rubbish and I'm feeling sorry for myself I can't just dive into comfort food (I'm also annoyed because I NEVER get invited to these big events and of course I get sick for it! At least it's not covid and I can still go!

How is everyone else doing midweek?
