Is anyone else struggling with the new Google Health app interface?

Is anyone else finding the replacement app for their Fitbit - Google Health - has the interface from hell? I use my Fitbit to track steps, heart rate in my work outs, my sleep patterns, and track calories every now and again.

The replacement of the Fitbit app by GoogleHealth is awful, awful, awful. Trying to track calories particularly. The user interface is appalling.

If anyone has any tips for easier food input I’m all ears - recording the grammes of food is particularly impossible,

How do you roll back on Android?

Do the hack I posted on page 1 of the thread.

It takes me forever to work out where to log my weight AND the wretched thing still isn’t syncing with Liva. I’m seriously thinking of going back to Noom (free version) for weight recording purposes.

I'm struggling to log my food, the old app used to remember dates, if I'm entering for yesterday I have to put in the date for every item, which is a chore since they took away custom recipes and food items. I now either have to enter the ingredients individually or find a ready meal with the approximate same description which means my home cooking is being recorded as supermarket food. which makes the nutritional content totally useless on the app.

ParmaVioletTea · 06/06/2026 11:17

Yes the good logging is the worst! I’ve managed to rearrange the first screen so I have my steps in the large circle but everything else is rubbish. I used to be able to see a day’s record of steps, sleep, logged exercise, and calories consumed on one screen at a glance.

can’t do that now.

The press for the app is pretty uniformly bad. Good.

Tried to do the roll back as suggested but cannot actually find the download for the files needed without constant pop ups to download other stuff.

Hopeful2go · 06/06/2026 15:39

That was a surprise. I just checked my activity to find it logged my epic 25 min ironing session earlier as a ‘walk!’

babs7119 · 07/06/2026 04:56

I do not like Google Health app. Especially not being able to manually enter my blood sugar readings. Iv

How odd. Under Log on first screen I get Glucose as an option.

I hate the new Google Health App - I want the old Fitbit one back - it doesn't record the number you walk each day

It does with me. It’s on the top rh side of the page you get when you log on.

it does seem to be overestimating it so far today, mind you. Maybe it’s to do with the fact it still thinks I’m exercising. (In cafe with a cuppa atm so the only exercise is lifting my cup to my mouth and typing this post! 😇

Google health. fitbit used to remember basic information

for example if I added multiple items for yesterday it would remember the date in between items, Google doesn't you need to pick it each time

Ah right. Get it. I’ve only ever used Noom to log foods and had similar problems to you with it. That and sometimes simply couldn’t be bothered to trawl my way through long lists of stuff so used to plump on the nearest ready-meal .

that's OK but you often need to dramatically change the quantity to get the calories to match, and that throws the nutrition out. it was so much easier when we could save meal plans and recipes.

it's also ridiculous that we can't see calories in and out for a week on the same screen like we used to.

I don't need all of these daily stats they're giving us, I need to see how I'm doing weekly or monthly. my goals are long term, and my health needs require the abity to see trends. fitbit used to be great for this now I have to copy things into excel.

I'm currently trying to pull stats into Home Assistant to build a new dashboard to replace the old fitbit one

I’m now finding this app is over judging my sleep. For yesterday, it says I went to bed at 19.46 and says I was awake for 2 hours 7 minutes. I actually went to bed around 21.10. I was watching tv until about 21.00 and probably sat still for half an hour from about 20.30, it’s ridiculous.

TurquoiseDress · 09/06/2026 20:45

You’re lucky to get any sleep readings!

My sleep reading is now zero, the new app took over around a week/10 days ago but strangely I have no sleep logged after around 6 weeks ago

It’s all a load of shit in my opinion, at least I can still see my steps!

Mine is the same
I never used the HR monitor and so now it won't log sleep unless I turn it on and I don't want to. I just want basic sleep tracking.

According to Google health help bot, this won't work and they have no plans to change it. I've got a sleep app instead that works via sound. Fuck em

NessaMc · 10/06/2026 20:28

Can anyone see the difference in colours on the heart rate graphs? I have premium and they are muddy brown, dark red and dark green! in the graph it's impossible to see the difference. Also my zone splits are't overtly stated on the graphs any more so I can't tell at a glance what zone I was in at any stage on my run like I could on the old Fitbit app. I really hate it.

I think that this was done on purpose, most of the interface seems to be deliberately designed to prevent easy analysis, like putting callories burned and consumed on different screens. or having the graphs be so chunky that you can't tell what they're reading at a glance.

i think that they're pushing you to use the ai coach to tell you where you are right now, so that you become dependent on it and so that new users become accustomed to being told things rather than looking them up themselves. thus locking them in to using the ai as they never gain the skills or knowledge to do it themselves.

... and then they'll charge more and more for it 🙄

Seasidewalker · 11/06/2026 09:49

DH's Charge 6 is misbehaving badly, it was draining the battery and now seems to be intermittently turning itself off. May be a coincidence I suppose. Mine seems to be fine, maybe a bit heavier on battery usage.

Either my sleep and my HRV has improved or it's over reading. I don't have much confidence in the new app which is an issue

had two charge 5 that both did this, I think it's a common battery fault.

LIZS · 13/06/2026 20:48

Has anyone else had trouble with times on their logs? Mine appear an hour different on one screen to next. Also set an alarm on my fitbit for this morning which moved to an hour later!

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 13/06/2026 22:44

I do think it must be done for a reason, they must be trying to push us to buy/use something else because I can’t work out why on testing it wasn’t picked up how much of a downgrade this is to the old app. It’s just shit.

Obviously this means this is my last Fitbit. Might start another thread for suggestions for alternatives with a decent app.

pb97 · 14/06/2026 08:01

yeah, it's really obvious, they're trying to push us to get the premium monthly subscription for the AI coach. it's why so many previously free features such as meal plans are only available on the paid version.

the new app is essentially a glorified step counter with some basic calory and sleep tracking built in.

It's all about the money.

unless they bring a lot of these features back this too will be my last fitbit. I'm thinking about getting one of those Chinese ones that let you export everything to excel.

anyone know of a good open-source alternative, or a company that supports open-source?

Seasidewalker · 14/06/2026 08:45

I find the process they must have gone through odd. Surely if you've got an app like Fitbit and you plan a revamp of it, you'd look at moving forward from what you've got? You'd build on it, whereas they seem to have just started again and created massive flaws and omissions 🤷‍♀️.

Accepting that there is clearly a push to a paid product they seem to have made a pigs ear of it.
