Is anyone else struggling with the new Google Health app interface?

Is anyone else finding the replacement app for their Fitbit - Google Health - has the interface from hell? I use my Fitbit to track steps, heart rate in my work outs, my sleep patterns, and track calories every now and again.

The replacement of the Fitbit app by GoogleHealth is awful, awful, awful. Trying to track calories particularly. The user interface is appalling.

If anyone has any tips for easier food input I’m all ears - recording the grammes of food is particularly impossible,

Yes! I absolutely hate it. It also lost all my data from the day I reconnected my device, and then the webchat advisers suggestion to ‘offload’ the app deleted the two days it had synced. I had all my foods saved and I found it helpful to be able to track back over eating habits and reflect on what I was dealing with at the time and how stress affected it.

I hate it so much I bought an Apple Watch, but I’m unhappy about that too as I feel forced into it.

Bythecooker · 01/06/2026 07:15

The summary at the top gets stuck on the previous day too which is really annoying.

kiwiflan · 01/06/2026 08:28

I won’t let me adjust my cycle, it’s so annoying. I can’t stand the coach.

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 01/06/2026 08:38

I also hate it.

It has lost all my historic data.

A random update yesterday means that the battery % no longer shows on the Fitbit - only on the app.

I do still have my 250 steps/hour reminder though.

LittleRobins · 01/06/2026 09:04

I’m no longer getting notifications on my Fitbit when I get an email which is a big thing for me.

Femalefootyfan1 · 01/06/2026 09:45

I have at least found the calorie tracking now.

The cardio ring shows the percentage of cardio you’ve reached each day. So for example, mine has been set at 645 for the week and when I’ve done some cardio, it’ll show +3 for instance and increases through the day/week.

LoserWinner · 01/06/2026 10:12

I spent about half an hour last night going through all the settings and killing off the ‘coach’. The interface is just an awful, but at least I now don’t have to see the AI drivel. There seem to be a lot of positive reviews on the App Store - must be all those Google employees, because I haven’t come across anyone else who likes it at all.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 01/06/2026 10:40

It’s just not as useful, is it?

JaneLupin · 01/06/2026 11:32

They’ve mucked up the period tracking too.

I’m in perimenopause so my cycle is all over the place, and I realised this morning it had put a predicted period in for me, starting a few days ago.

I can’t delete the predicted period. I can edit it with symptoms of my non existent period, but I can’t delete it altogether.

What’s the point in even including a feature on menstrual cycles if it’s impossible to change it to reflect one’s actual menstrual cycle?

Yes you’re not alone, it’s been a really frustrating switch. The food logging especially feels way less intuitive than the old Fitbit setup, and weighing/grams input is a pain now.
I’ve found it slightly easier using the search + recent meals shortcuts, but overall the interface is definitely a downgrade for tracking.

I’m exactly the same, peri cycle is all over the place and it won’t let me log accurately.

kiwiflan · 01/06/2026 12:13

I’ve worked out how to add exact food amounts, you have to put it in the chat with the ai coach. Annoying. I’m trying to stay open minded but don’t trust it to be correct.

GentlemenPreferBonds · 01/06/2026 12:14

I hate it too! My weight is linked to my Aria scales and it won’t let me delete any data. I usually weigh myself a few times and pick the lowest 😂, and used to be able to delete any additional data. If I delete it in the Aria log, it stays on the google app 😩. Also had data going back 10 years and can’t see this either 🥲

I did click on their feedback icon but heard nothing in response….

TheLemonOtter · 01/06/2026 14:02

I seem to have lost all my weight data, and the front page still has my sleep stuck on Friday night! It is so annoying

Did you filter them to show the latest ones first? Because I don't see any good ones.
In fact, when I looked a couple of weeks ago, they had 4.2 stars out of five. Having just checked now, that is down to 3.8. With over 1 million reviews it will have taken a lot of bad ones to bring it down that quickly!

kiwiflan · 01/06/2026 17:03

I can confirm the ai coach has got every single item way off with calories. You can’t manually enter set amounts so you have to look up exactly the calories online and then get the ai coach to add that. It didn’t even get it right for a pre-made item with set calories. The macros must be way off too but I don’t have time to check.

Ifeeltheneedtheneedforcoffee · 01/06/2026 17:14

I can't even get mine to sync to my fitbit
Its a charge 2 so old but is still showing on the list and was working fine.
I used to use it to log steps on my Henley fitness traing app and so now can't do that. Luckily track weight and calories via nutracheck
Anyone got any recommendations for a non apple replacement. Prefer a slimmer tracker if possible

MysteriousInspector · 01/06/2026 17:16

People want to have jobs coding. Or changing the specs, perhaps for AI to code?

So apps get worse, when they were fine in the first place.

HoobleDooble · 01/06/2026 17:20

My Fitbit is refusing to connect to it.

The most recent App Store reviews are generally 1 or occasionally 2 star and are titled things like ‘Terrible’, ‘Awful’, ‘Clunky’, ‘Inaccurate’, ‘Rubbish’, ‘Buggy’ etc.

You get the drift.

Femalefootyfan1 · 01/06/2026 18:43

Where can I find how to review this clunky shit app?

SilverBlue4 · 01/06/2026 18:50

Mine will no longer record my sleep if the HR monitor is off. I don't want details of sleep stages etc it just makes me anxious. On the Fitbit app it would track via movement and say how long I had been asleep / restless etc but this one does nothing at all unless I turn the HR monitor on
Has anyone found any way to make it work?

DeftGoldHedgehog · 01/06/2026 18:54

I've had a go with the AI coach but it's not much cop. It has amnesia of anything you just told it, so what's the point of AI that doesn't actually learn? I have it linked to Nutracheck so mostly ignore what's on Fitbit/Google except for the automatic step/exercise tracking and track food/exercise on Nutracheck instead.

DeftGoldHedgehog · 01/06/2026 18:59

Popcorn76 · 28/05/2026 08:26

Anyone find their sleep score is a lot worse since switching to google health. If anything my deep and rem sleep has been better in the last week but I am now getting fair or good scores rather than excellent.

Probably lying awake thinking about how shit the app is or having nightmares about it 😂

Mine is also a Charge 2 and did sync ok (although I did have to re-add it as nothing carried across from the old app).

Hopefully it will work for you eventually.

App is still rubbish though.
