Is anyone else struggling with the new Google Health app interface?

Is anyone else finding the replacement app for their Fitbit - Google Health - has the interface from hell? I use my Fitbit to track steps, heart rate in my work outs, my sleep patterns, and track calories every now and again.

The replacement of the Fitbit app by GoogleHealth is awful, awful, awful. Trying to track calories particularly. The user interface is appalling.

If anyone has any tips for easier food input I’m all ears - recording the grammes of food is particularly impossible,

Mine is also a Charge 2 and did sync ok (although I did have to re-add it as nothing carried across from the old app).

Hopefully it will work for you eventually.

App is still rubbish though.

Thanks. Ill keep trying and hopefully get somewhere.
Although may regret being able to get onto the app from the sound of it!!

I have a low resting heart rate - low to mid 40s is totally normal for me. It keeps alerting me of this as if I should be alarmed by it but my RHR has always been consistently low ever since I started wearing the thing, probably about 5 years now!

SabrinaThwaite · 01/06/2026 22:47

Apparently I did a 20 min bike ride this morning and covered 0 distance.

I didn’t - I mowed the lawn.

Apparently my sleep has been incredible ever since the update. It says I didn’t wake up once last night even though I literally got up and walked round the house at one point. Also my HRV is suddenly way higher than it’s ever been. Don’t trust it at all.

I have apparently been awake since just after 3am. I found this out when I woke at 7am.

Now don't trust any of the data.

Magical2026 · 02/06/2026 09:09

Also my heart didn't beat at all between 4:10am and 4:35am.

bananagrama · 02/06/2026 10:03

I think this is the final push to me not wearing this thing. It appealed to me because I like data and stats and like to have a fitness goal, but in reality it’s just a bit of a con. I think I’m going to ditch it! I know when I’m fit and when I’m not. It will be weird doing a workout and not immediately checking how many calories I’ve burned and how much cardio I’ve done.

bananagrama · 02/06/2026 10:05

Also, when I bought a Fitbit it was because it was Fitbit, a specialised app and not bloody google (which I refuse to use). So I’m pretty pissed off.
New start…no tech.

JaneLupin · 02/06/2026 14:00

I can’t even leave a bad review for this app!

Apparently, despite the Fitbit app turning itself into the Google Health app and sitting there on my phone with all my data in it, the App Store thinks that I haven’t bought or downloaded the app!
I can even open this app that I apparently don’t have through the App Store!

Stupid app. I think I’m going to start researching alternatives.

If you dig around in the settings it looks like you can set the threshold values for low and high. Click on your photo, Google health settings, then scroll down to preferences and hopefully you can see Heart rate there and it looks like you can set custom settings as you could on Fitbit- I don't want to play with mine as I have custom values that I don't want it to bugger up!

Oddly my low threshold carried over from Fitbit but it prompted me to (re)set a high threshold.

Fingers crossed it works for you. Mine is still merrily congratulating me on good Cardio scores which are actually caused by my med condition genetated elevated HR - it doesn't understand that it is not a positive thing 🙄 At least I've turned it off the big icon. I have no idea why that wouldn't have BPM as one of the large icon options? I genuinely wonder who designed this app!

Uberaddict · 02/06/2026 14:28

Ok - coach is working better . So if I log food one day via coach (I have a pretty standard breakfast most days ), then I can ask it to ‘log yesterdays breakfast’

SabrinaThwaite · 02/06/2026 14:36

@Seasidewalker I customised the icons to include BPM - is this what you’re looking for?

This is one of the reasons I want to turn off HR monitoring as even the Fitbit app kept congratulating me for being in the fat burning zone when I was asleep!! Tried again last night it off and it didn't log any sleep
Useless.

Thanks yes I've done this but BPM isn't available as a large round icon which would replicate what I had previously

SabrinaThwaite · 02/06/2026 15:23

Ah, OK I get what you mean now.

🤣 That’s the one upside of the wretched app: it’s actually crediting me for my exercise far more accurately than before. Otherwise , it’s like being in the 7th circle of hell. Especially when you try to record your weight. Plus it’s refusing to sync with my Liva app, so that’s yet another job to add to the ‘to do’ list .

kiwiflan · 02/06/2026 19:54

Can you get it to show just calories consumed? It keeps adjusting mine and I ate a snack thinking I was low on calories, totally annoyed now.

I’d never considered mowing the lawn as exercise. It’s a tiny lawn, it takes me longer to get the lawn mower out and put it away again than to mow the thing. Although I did No Mow May (more by accident than design) which meant more mowing than usual, so I’ll take it.

parachutegirl · 04/06/2026 09:55

It’s crap. Takes about half hour to load any data and I hate the way the page is laid out. Might have to get an Apple Watch for my birthday 🎈

InLoveWithAI · 04/06/2026 11:45

kiwiflan · 01/06/2026 17:03

I can confirm the ai coach has got every single item way off with calories. You can’t manually enter set amounts so you have to look up exactly the calories online and then get the ai coach to add that. It didn’t even get it right for a pre-made item with set calories. The macros must be way off too but I don’t have time to check.

I can log manually.

But I do have premium, so dunno if that's why.

VivendaLuiza · 04/06/2026 20:43

100% shite!
google you have no idea what distress you have caused and now have effectively destroyed people’s mental health and wellbeing Hopefully no ones blood will be on their hands.

eurochick · 04/06/2026 21:46

I can’t even log in. It claims my google account is a workplace account. It is not, and has never been, a workplace account. Absolute pile of crap.

pb97 · 05/06/2026 09:22

Converse4Ever · 25/05/2026 21:47

I don’t know why calories burned isn’t on the main page anymore.

it's terrible. there used to be a single graph that showed calories in and out for the entire week in one place, now I need to keep swapping between two different screens to see if I'm meeting my goals.

I'm seriously thinking about buying a garmin

Hopeful2go · 05/06/2026 20:20

It takes me forever to work out where to log my weight AND the wretched thing still isn’t syncing with Liva. I’m seriously thinking of going back to Noom (free version) for weight recording purposes.

InconsequentialFerret · 06/06/2026 07:28

Seriously everyone, do the hack I posted and go back to an earlier version and you'll be much happier! I have my old Fitbit interface which will see me out until I need a new watch.

How do you roll back on Android?
