Is anyone else struggling with the new Google Health app interface?

Is anyone else finding the replacement app for their Fitbit - Google Health - has the interface from hell? I use my Fitbit to track steps, heart rate in my work outs, my sleep patterns, and track calories every now and again.

The replacement of the Fitbit app by GoogleHealth is awful, awful, awful. Trying to track calories particularly. The user interface is appalling.

If anyone has any tips for easier food input I’m all ears - recording the grammes of food is particularly impossible,

I just woke up this morning, couldn’t find the Fitbit app and realised it had been replaced by Google Health

Seem to have lost ALL my sleep data from now until back in March….can I find it somewhere…?

It hasn’t even given me a sleep duration for last night, I’m sure I finally hit the elusive 8 hours after having an early night!

Overall seems very clunky and not straightforward to navigate but maybe need to give it more time….

Popcorn76 · Today 08:26

Anyone find their sleep score is a lot worse since switching to google health. If anything my deep and rem sleep has been better in the last week but I am now getting fair or good scores rather than excellent.

Converse4Ever · Today 08:37

Yes terrible sleep every night. A notification popped up on my screen at 2am to tell me I’d had a bad night sleep as well, give me a chance!

SabrinaThwaite · Today 08:45

@Converse4Ever Did the 2am notification telling you that you had a bad nights sleep wake you up?

Howinthehelldidthishappen · Today 10:31

This ridiculously bad update actually forced me to write my first ever review of an app on google play.
Google helpfully responded telling me to explore more and read a load of crap about how to use it.
The point is, I knew how to use fitbit, and I don't want to have to read a load of stuff to figure out how to use something that used to be so intuitive!
I have enjoyed myself watching their rating out of 5 slip down over the last couple of weeks though.
If any of you come across a slim fitness tracker watch that does the job and doesn't break the bank but has all the old fitbit features, please let me know!

Converse4Ever · Today 10:39

@SabrinaThwaiteno thankfully that was the cat an hour later.

I also love it for its slimness. I don’t want an Apple Watch, I have small hands/wrists and it works for me.

EnglishGirlApproximately · Today 10:59

Oh it's driving me mad, I just want my nice simple Fitbit screen back! Does anyone know if you can stop it adding calories burnt to your remaining allowance? I don't 'use' my extra calories and like to be able to see at a glance what I have left.

Femalefootyfan1 · Today 11:21

I’ve been trying to navigate this new app for two days and I hate it. The previous Fitbit app had features that were relevant and useful for me, this one’s pretty useless and having to search to even add water is crazy and like another pp, I used the reminder to move which seems to have disappeared and also the cardio load is totally different, it’s a bloody wheel thing that does overall cardio load for the week and what percentage I’m at, I want the daily thing back and agree with comments about the calorie thing as well, it’s rubbish.

I’m now considering an Apple Watch, which I’ve discounted before as I felt the Fitbit was better for me but I’m going to have a serious look now

Queenage · Today 11:45

The reminder to move is missing and the rest of it is awful. I’m sad. Plus I don’t get a star any more for being at target weight, which is miserable.

JaneLupin · Today 11:56

I’m hating it.

Why did they have to mess about with something that worked fine???

fellupthestairs · Today 12:40

Mine updated this morning and it’s so bad. Wow. I used it to track steps and weight. I’d been tracking my weight on it for over a decade and could see a graph of it all on one screen. Now I can only see a year at a time at most. Crap! Also the scrolly wheel thing for selecting your weight, it defaults to a certain weight so I have to scroll like mad every time. So annoying!

ParmaVioletTea · Today 13:27

I've just been reading the reviews on the Apple app store: they all say the same thing, and someone points out that yu can't alter portion size on the calories tracking section. This is one of my major criticisms. I thought it might just be me not setting it up properly, but no, they've taken away that ability to log how many grammes etc.

Like @Howinthehelldidthishappen if anyone can recommend a slim-ish smartwatch, I'm all ears. The Apple watch gets a lot of praise from a coupe of colleagues who have them, but it's quite big & clunky.

What Garmins might replace a Fitbit? Although I've heard their app is pretty awful too. At least with Apple, you know that the functionality will be excellent.

Google have been ruining the FitBit ever since they bought it. I gave up about a year ago after realising that they were never going to reverse some of their counter-productive updates despite overwhelming evidence from the users that that waa what they wanted.
Pretty much every update they have done has made things worse, not better.

Yes they have. There used to be a nice little community of Mumsnetters on there that I was part of, and Google got rid of it. Then they got rid of the fun challenges as well.
I don’t understand the rationale behind it, the Fitbit app looked good and worked well.

RupertTheBear · Today 13:59

The update doesn’t work for me. I have been waiting to see if it was ok before replacing my very old Fitbit but I hate it so will be looking at Apple or garmin.
all I want is to be able to log food easily. There is no quick add button! I don’t bother adding exactly what I’ve eaten- just total calories- and I can’t do this now.
I also want a slim design so not sure if Apple Watch will work for me

InconsequentialFerret · Today 14:01

Since I did the rollback to an older version mine's been okay for what I want it for.

Interestingly, my sleep for the previous night changed from 8 hrs with Google to a more realistic number when I went back to Fitbit.

Sigh. Fitbit used to be so good. I'm just going to plod along until my watch gives out.

I've got an Inspire 3 and love it.

ChalkOutlines · Today 14:18

Why do companies keep “fixing” things that ain’t broken? I hate the new interface and it’s all just shit and gimmicky.

hotflashes · Today 14:26

Why Has this been done? Is it supposed to improve the ‘user experience’? If so … epic fail!

TurquoiseDress · Today 15:11

So I’ve given it several hours since waking this morning…I still think it’s shit

Looks like I have zero sleep data logged since early April…does anyone know where it might be?
I always track my sleep and have a total amount to see each morning…the sleep score thing was great but it stopped working around 18 months ago, this was several months before my Fitbit ‘premium’ subscription ran out

All I’m interested in is steps & sleep

What a load of shite!

LoserWinner · Today 17:02

The AI is completely f*kk3d. It thinks I spent an hour and a half in the gym from 12.30am. I was actually asleep, heart rate 59 and no steps. I could put up with the other (pretty awful) changes, but I DON’T WANT an AI ‘coach’. I want to turn the damned thing off.

SabrinaThwaite · Today 17:52

I went into settings and made sure lots of things were switched off.

I liked the old Fitbit settings where you could swipe back through to get previous days full stats.
