Is anyone else struggling with the new Google Health app interface?

Is anyone else finding the replacement app for their Fitbit - Google Health - has the interface from hell? I use my Fitbit to track steps, heart rate in my work outs, my sleep patterns, and track calories every now and again.

The replacement of the Fitbit app by GoogleHealth is awful, awful, awful. Trying to track calories particularly. The user interface is appalling.

If anyone has any tips for easier food input I’m all ears - recording the grammes of food is particularly impossible,

Right I’ve given it over 24 hours now and it’s still frustrating and just rubbish overall

Looks like I have no sleep data at all for last night or the past 6 weeks- but I was tracking it as usual in the Fitbit app

I have a Fitbit Inspire 2…is this the issue, is it ‘too old’ to be compatible…?!

LIZS · 29/05/2026 08:18

Mine tells me I had 2 exercise days but when I click through there are none recorded. Recorded weight has disappeared too.

I think everyone should write a scathing review in the App Store / Play store if you have a minute. I’ve done one as it’s really pissed me off.

Just done this. It's so annoying!!!

Interesting thread on Redditt:

Google product manager on the Fitbit update

Just logged activity, the time is showing incorrectly on the dashboard and no heart rate graph.

Uberaddict · 30/05/2026 14:36

Ok - yesterday I did 50 floors on a stair machine and it logged 0 floors 🤦🏼‍♀️ Hate that I have lost the calorie deficit which I loved BUT the premium photograph your plate and estimating your calories is remarkably accurate

Seasidewalker · 31/05/2026 09:05

The Redditt discussion is interesting, I'm off to leave a poor review.

It's such a piss poor app, I don't count calories but closely monitor heart rate and HRV in connection with a medical condition. The pointless Cardio wheel is completely unhelpful, it's congratulating me on a great Cardio score when actually my HR is high whilst I'm sitting on the sofa.

I just want data not the interpretation...

Interestingly my sleep has looked better this week, I've made some lifestyle changes and I was encouraged that they were working, maybe not!

DH's Charge 6 battery has become poor in the last couple of weeks, I wonder if this is linked? Google managed to bork the old Nexus Tablets years ago with an update that trashed them, I wonder if this is similar?

Also interested in alternatives, looks like DH's is going to need replacing.

The other advice on the Reddit thread is to sign up for Premium then cancel it.

I think a lot of the crapness of the app is deliberately intended to drive users to paying for the Premium package. I had a free year of Premium when I first bought my current Fitbit but I didn’t continue- I didn’t think it was worth paying for.

I might try the free trial they’re offering then cancel. I need to save for an Apple Watch!

My Inspire 3 battery hasn’t been great for the last few months, but the last few days it seems to be draining quickly. Might just be a coincidence though.

Dbrin01 · 31/05/2026 12:06

I had no option with this, it just did it overnight! I hate it and as others have said it’s winding me up more than it should, I hate it! Everything about it. You can’t even log food for tomorrow, I take sandwiches for work and make them the night before and log it all! Can’t do actual weights of food which is how I always logged it, very accurate! I am looking elsewhere if we can’t change anything with it!

Bythecooker · 31/05/2026 18:10

I just turned my phone off and on again and it seems to have returned to the old style app. Has anyone else had this?

Amsylou · 31/05/2026 18:24

Mine lost both exercises I did earlier in the week (well, not entirely, but says I did 0 cardio minutes) and is completely inaccurate on most counts. I’m planning to get an Apple Watch soon so that will be it, after having Fitbit for a decade. I’m so pissed off now.

Perrygreen · 31/05/2026 19:09

My watch has lost my cardio score. I liked that feature as I'd see it getting better when I exercised every day (week off work / good weather).

My sleep has nothing logged since early April…why??

My Fitbit app turned into Google health app earlier this week and my sleep was all logged up until the day before. All my sleep has disappeared and can only see early April/earlier

Has everyone else still got their sleep data…?

MyThreeWords · 31/05/2026 19:22

I find the interface fine. But I don't trust the rebrand whatsoever. I assume that their mission is to suck more data from us in return for plugging us in to unwanted and pointless additional functions that we never asked for.

I feel I need to comb through it in detail and see what they are up to. But I am also much too lazy to do that. So I guess I will just fall out of love with the whole pointless rigmarole. I don't really need the data I'm collecting and it is less and less fun to collect it.

Same here.

It's horrible. I hate the way the coach keeps trying to talk to me as well.

I’ve still got mine but my running calorie count has gone. I use MFP and they used to link up so I log my calories eaten in MFP and could see the running count through the day. Now I have to go back into MFP to see them. I also hate that I can no longer see a running (pun intended) of my hourly steps, now I have to rely on reminders on my Fitbit if I haven’t done 250 steps per hour.
It’s total shit 🤬

I turned coach off I think.

I hate it!!! Give me my fitbit back!!

Weird...I then went off to do something and it reverted back to the new format again. Sorry to have been such a tease

Perrygreen · 31/05/2026 20:36

What the heck does "weekly cardio 91%" in the stupid circle even mean? I literally don't care. I want todays stats laid out clearly.

Ha ha Grin

I did the turn off/on thing and the sodding Google Health app is still there…Grin

TurquoiseDress · 31/05/2026 22:45

I noticed you can log sleep…who’s bloody got time to do that? What’s that all about?

I don’t know exactly what time I went up sleep last night (I was knackered) or what exact time I woke up this morning!

Ophir · 31/05/2026 22:53

I don’t like it either and the battery on my Fitbit is draining more quickly

id get an Apple Watch, but I think they need charging every day?
