7 minutes HIIT - max walking 6.5 mph.

Lat pulls - 10X19; 5X22.5 kg.

Triceps pulls - 3 sets of 10.

Biceps pulls - 2 sets of 10; 1 set of 12.

BezMills · 05/02/2026 15:11

Great work @Happleandhorange and @WearyAuldWumman

I've had a quiet week. Had a go on the monkey bars on Sunday morning, which I very much enjoyed, but nothing too strenuous apart from that for me.

I've got one of my Boxercise Crew (ex BodyCombat) started down the gym today. I gave him a pretty standard full body workout that I nicked from the internets.

10 minutes on a cardio machine, then 4 big lifts : Deadlift (dumbells and kettlebells), goblet squat with kettlebell, bench press and vertical row. Then some dead bugs 3 x 30s.

He seemed pretty happy with that and the Hevy app told him he hit almost every muscle in the body, so even the app agrees.

stilldumdedumming · 05/02/2026 16:10

I am really enjoying the Hevy app.
although I thought yesterday was a rest day, I had forgotten I had booked online yoga!

Feeling a bit better today. I did all my physio very properly like a good girl. And some e tra dumbbell stuff. Hammer curls and some core work.

40 x 25m swim
20 mins pilates at home
26/300

BezMills · 06/02/2026 08:34

I'm so glad you're liking the Hevy app @stilldumdedumming

Someone put me onto it a couple years ago and it's my go-to. I've got matey using it too. I especially appreciate how the free version is fully featured and not full of annoying ads. The paid version lets you have more workouts, which definitely would be handy if you were doing a 5 day bro split or loads of different workouts. I just about manage with the limit of 4, because Scottish, and free is free.

stilldumdedumming · 06/02/2026 12:29

Yes I still have the free version and it suits me fine. Have to say it’s not silly money if you felt you needed the full thing.

Today was lower body. We pushed it! Single leg calf raises on my wonky legs!

DP is on an absolute mission to set up a home gym in the garage. I hadn’t realised that he wants to start building on his physio. He had a stroke so is pretty wonky on one side. Our social life changed with the stroke and so it will be nice to do this together I think.

4.8 mile dog walk
27/300.
I'm fighting with myself regarding dance class tomorrow - she's doing ballet and, though I love to watch it, my knees and hips aren't up to it I fear 😳
I don't think I can take it seriously either.

Happleandhorange · 07/02/2026 04:51

Great about home gym. Sounds fun!

I am back from a gentle cardio session at gym. Loved The Trip - think it's given me an idea for a painting.

stilldumdedumming · 07/02/2026 10:05

Gentle gentle Pilates this morning. But it’s good for my nervous system.

BezMills · 07/02/2026 12:11

I joined the monkey bars gym yesterday and had a nice session. Had a go at deadlift but it wasn't feeling strong. Not sure if it was the different bar or just me, but I struggled with my grip and stopped just short of the weight I was aiming for. No biggie, just some days it's like that!

I got on the bars and almost had to laugh at how many people also wanted to use the same space I wanted to swing through. It's like that, we all have to share the space!

I got some nice swinging done, then had a lovely older lady come up and offer me advice. "My son does it you see, and he uses his legs and goes really fast. But you are just hanging there and not going fast."

I was brachiating, where you just swing from grip to grip with straight arms, like a monkey, using as little energy as possible. Whereas it sounds like he was racing along using active arms like you see in ninja warrior or gladiators!

I just smiled and explained that what I was doing was a different thing, and her son is probably much better at it than me! We had a lovely chat and she was saying she likes punching but her son doesn't know how to hold the pads for her. I ended up inviting her and her son to do a free class of Boxercise, haha!

Been getting loads of interest in my Boxercise class, due to being a bit more active on the FB. Been buying up branded gear on vinted to increase my capacity too. I'm really chuffed about how it's going.

stilldumdedumming · 07/02/2026 19:25

@BezMillsthats such good news on your growing class. I find a slower grow is the best always. Letting a sense of community build. Then when it takes off you’re so ready!

BezMills · 07/02/2026 19:35

Thanks so much @stilldumdedumming

Yes it's been just over 2 years and I've put in the time. The Wednesday class was a real battle since I started in July, and only recently started paying its own rent. So I'm very happy overall.

WearyAuldWumman · 07/02/2026 20:39

Yesterday's Senior Flex class was 'easy'. I was careful not to use the 'hardest' band and went down one to the red, the same I saw the trainer using last time.

This time, she was using a lighter one, I realised.

Today, I thought that I was unwell. Then I realised that it was merely my abdominals reacting to yesterday's 'easy' chair exercises.

Alittlefrustrated · 07/02/2026 20:53

50 x 25m swim
28/300
Played hookie from ballet 😳

Happleandhorange · 08/02/2026 05:19

Today gym was a pleasant surprise. I am managing to increase the weights and reps for my upper body without triggering hideous shoulder pain. Starting to dare believe I may actually be able to get my upper half strong. I was rowing at 40kg, triceps press at 40kg and chest press at 20. This is for me amazing.

Comtesse · 08/02/2026 07:21

Still going! Off on holiday today so a quick 10 mins of calisthenics to keep moving. 26 mins yesterday and 2 miles on the bike and 9.9k steps.

If I can keep going for the next month til 6 March then I will have exercised every day for a year. Blimey never thought this would be in sight….

Alittlefrustrated · 08/02/2026 19:35

Good going Comtesse!
60 mins Stomp Fit class
29/300

FurForksSake · 08/02/2026 19:57

Lots of physio today. Back on the exercise back tomorrow.

stilldumdedumming · 08/02/2026 20:38

I have wrecked my body looking after dgs today. He’s 2! My poor body. But no exercise as such.

physio appointment tomorrow

BitOutOfPractice · 08/02/2026 20:57

I know I haven’t posted here any updates for a couple of weeks but I just wanted to say that I am on day 6 of absolutely zero pain in either of my knees. I have arthritis and this time last year I was struggling to get up and down stairs with the pain. This weekend I have run, walked, strength trained, box jumped, balanced, lifted heavy. Done everything, all with no knee pain.

proof positive that consistency pays off.

I’m so proud of myself but that’s a hard thing to say IRL.

Happleandhorange · 09/02/2026 06:26

@BitOutOfPractice that is AMAZING. It is so encouraging.

I scooted into town and back for first day of art course. Not a gym visit but still good exercise. I am thinking I may go in via the gym tomorrow.

WearyAuldWumman · 09/02/2026 18:25

Trying to improve cardio. HIIT walking on treadmill. Fastest speed 6.9 km p h for 2 one minutes stints within a 7 minute walk where lowest speed was above 5 km ph. Followed by 2.5 min cool down.

Highest heart rate was 163 during fastest periods. Being unable to run is frustrating.

Adductor: 1 set of 10 at 33kg. Felt light, so moved up to 40 for 2 more sets.
Abductor: 3 sets of 10 at 40 kg.

Pilates : 45 minute class, using ball. Abdominals, shoulders muscles, lower back, hips etc.

I can get off the mat at the end without my knees, but although I'm lifting with my toes I'm still having to use my knuckles to get me off the floor.

Noticed two spaces on the Zumba class while I was having my coffee, but was too chicken. Maybe when I get my cardio a bit better? The descriptor does say that it's suitable for 'the dance challenged'...

FurForksSake · 09/02/2026 18:28

Lots of physio and shifting things in the garage but no bike as I used all my spoons.

Alittlefrustrated · 09/02/2026 20:03

7.2 mile walk. Quite a challenge to keep talking up the not inconsiderable inclines.
55 minute pilates class
30/300
