Would anyone like to start C25K in the New Year that needs some time to get your head together?

I've done this before and am planning on restarting in January. I've gained some weight and lost some fitness but realistically now is not the time to start.

However I'm not one for last minute things and my head needs to get itself in the right place (and plan a diet). So with this in mind over Christmas and New Year I'm starting in January.

Anyone care to join me?

Morning! Wk2 run 3 just done. It’s a tad chilly out!

kirinm · 15/01/2024 09:16

Hoping to do the second run of w3 today. It's quite a nice sunny day in London. Cold but at least not dark and grey.

OfDragonsDeep · 15/01/2024 09:58

W7, run 1 done yesterday. Never ever thought I would be able to run for 25 mins straight. Am so proud of myself 😂 Still pretty slow though and my legs are feeling it today!

That's amazing. Well done! Is it all long runs in week 7?

cinnamonbiscuit · 15/01/2024 19:22

Started week 2 today, not finding it anywhere near as bad as I thought at 5 months postpartum.

Glad to be moving on to fewer stops/starts, for some reason I find week 1 really annoying having to do 8 separate minutes of running!

I'm not really doing it to lose weight (although I do need to) but lost 4lb last week!! Was in a calorie deficit and did lots of walking plus the running.

NewUser1111 · 15/01/2024 19:54

Wow @OfDragonsDeep thats amazing - well done. I somehow can’t quite imagine getting to that stage… I’m currently trying to motivate myself to go out tonight but it’s sooo cold.

FastingPhilly · 16/01/2024 18:33

W3 R1 done! That 3 min run was tough especially in this cold, but fortunately I timed it so it was mainly downhill 😁

Well done everyone doing it in this freezing weather!

NewUser1111 · 16/01/2024 20:23

Glad I’m not the only one using hills to my tactical advantage @FastingPhilly 😂

I did w2r3 tonight. How’s week 3?

FastingPhilly · 16/01/2024 23:00

😂@NewUser1111 we've got to take any help going in my view!!

I have my 2nd Week 3 run tomorrow. It was ok actually, there are only 4 runs per session - 1.5 mins, 3 mins, 1.5 and 3 mins, then into the cool down. So not too bad 🏃

Browniesandcustard · 17/01/2024 05:18

I’m heading out for Wk 3, Run 2 shortly. Good luck to everyone else running today!

Houseplanter · 17/01/2024 07:43

Hi everyone

Life has unexpectedly got in the way for me this week, but really hoping I'll be back to it next week..

You're all doing so well and I'm def going to be on catch up!

I backed out of a late run yesterday. It just feels so cold. I have personal training tonight so it definitely won't happen today. And it's minus 5 tomorrow so unless I'm feeling doubly motivated, it might have to be Friday.

minipie · 17/01/2024 08:52

I’m out too for the moment due to a nasty chesty cough. Hopefully back on it by Friday.
Well done everyone managing to keep going!

FastingPhilly · 17/01/2024 23:26

W3 R2 done! Was ok actually, felt I had a bit more in the tank and did an extra 3k steps after - despite my nose being purple with the cold 😀

upandoutofbed · 18/01/2024 08:39

Can I join? Just finished week 4 🙌. Finding it very challenging! Cold but beautiful morning, so glad I dragged myself out.

I used to run a lot but I'm overweight, peri and deconditioned now and keep getting injured. Fingers crossed still okay at the moment, a bit nervous about next week.

kirinm · 20/01/2024 09:52

This weekend its catch up time and at least it isn't freezing cold.

kirinm · 20/01/2024 13:08

I ran w3 runs 2 and 3 and then did a 5 mins run at the end to psych myself up for week 4. Thank goodness for the better weather.

Freda999 · 20/01/2024 18:25

Just come back from another one in the bag. Does anyone else suffer with a ridiculously red face post run?

FastingPhilly · 20/01/2024 18:52

@Freda999 yes usually! All the way through school any exertion resulted in a puce face for hours 😡(me , not anger!)

But the cold has helped a lot and I only have a light "glow" atm 😁

Week 3, Run 3 completed

Freda999 · 20/01/2024 19:01

The cold definitely helps. I struggled so much in the heat last summer and was going out really late when it had cooled. I'm not very sweaty as a rule so blaming it on that.

redhatwhitebeard · 20/01/2024 19:02

Anyone want to start tomorrow?

tryingcouchto5K · 21/01/2024 11:05

I got as far as week 4 last time but pulled a muscle. I think my pace was too quick so I've slowed it right down to just faster than walking pace and that has helped. I run on a treadmill so it's easier for me to be consistent.

Amazing effort for those of you running in that cold weather we had.

I started from scratch again and completed W1 last week. Going for W2 R1 tomorrow.

My problem is my leggings roll down at the waist, they don't come up far enough!

newbeliever · 21/01/2024 14:04

Hi everyone, not had the best week, really busy time at work, freezing cold mornings and evenings and i struggled to find the motivation to find a window. Ran W3R3 today but feel I need to repeat it at least one more time as I’ve not run since last Monday and want to be sure I’m ready for week 4.

Anyone else finding it hard to fit runs in during the week? I’ve worked out I need to be up by 6.15 to make it happen and allow time for shower/hair and out the door for work by 8. After work would be easier to fit in but I’m not getting home till 7 and need to crack on with supper (and be ready to watch The Traitors at 9 😀).

Diet going ok, sticking to salads at lunchtime and skyr for breakfast, had a couple of slip-ups with chocolate cravings but it’s going in the right direction. Waistband starting to feel a bit less tight which is motivating!

NewUser1111 · 21/01/2024 21:31

I have fallen off the wagon this week- not made it out over the weekend due to a family visit and tonight’s filthy weather. My attempts to eat more healthily have also taken a big blow- far too many nice multi course meals! Feeling a bit glum but hopefully I’ll manage it tomorrow.

well done to everyone who’s managing to keep it up!

newbeliever · 22/01/2024 06:15

@NewUser1111 we all have weeks like this I’m sure. I was feeling a bit despondent about the past week but I think I was being too hard on myself as I have still made improvements, even if it’s not as quick or consistent as I would like. The key is to keep going and not give up. Saying that, I am awake and could go for a run right now but I think it may be ‘interesting’ outside after the storm so will play it safe today.😊
