Anyone else want to make a real effort from tomorrow - 4 weeks of exercise and eating well?

I have been trying on and off to lose weight for the past year but now planning to really exercise 3 times a week if I can and cut down on the sugary crap I eat. A but part of it is the habit of wanting something sweet after dinner when I don't even really want it.

I’m on week 3 and I’m being real strict with myself Monday to Friday and then letting the weekend just be. I have the same meals mon-fri currently. With it being breakfast granola, yoghurt and blueberries. Protein bar for a snack. A bagel with cream cheese and tons of deli meat and by tons I mean 175g per bagel. A muller light yoghurt for snack and then a low calorie ready meal for dinner. I’m also either swimming or doing couch25k those days, then weekends are just no tracking or set exercise. So far I’ve lost over 3kg but I’ve got a long way to go.

amiboverd · 20/10/2023 11:03

@HOL2024 Sounds like you're doing well!

I think that's a good way to do it and now that I don't have an event in mind I might go back to cutting out most of the sugary stuff on weekdays and then allowing myself some treats at the weekend.

I've got a bad cold at the moment and have done for over 2 weeks so that's meant no exercise for me unfortunately.

Morning everyone 👋

I have had a cold for about 3 weeks I've either been busy or not feeling well and so honestly I haven't eaten as well as I could (should) have and I either haven't had time to exercise or haven't felt up to it.

I feel much better today and so I am back on with trying to cut out the sugar (may relax on a weekend) and I will try to schedule in 2 workouts this week.

Who is still with me?

Sorry dropped off this chat for a while, but have been keeping going with the exercise & healthy eating. 6 weeks in and I'm 11lbs down and starting to feel a bit better in general.

However we are now on holiday at an all inclusive hotel and I'm struggling to make healthy choices. Getting lots of exercise in with with walks, swimming & sports, may even go to the gym here, but am definitely still over eating.

Burntumber · 27/10/2023 09:17

@EnglishRose1320 11bs is fantastic well done. Enjoy your holiday- as long as you manage to get straight back on it when you get back home it should come off quick. This is the bit I struggle with - I sometimes maintain on holiday and then gain weight when I get back home!

Sounds like a good plan @HOL2024 having set meals definitely makes it easier not to go off track.

glad you are feeling better @amiboverd how have the last couple of days gone? I have been off the rails as we bought a load of snacks for visitors which didn’t get eaten but trying to get back on it today!

amiboverd · 28/10/2023 17:45

I did body combat this morning for the first time I weeks and really found it difficult but glad I did it and going to try to fit in two from Monday next week.

@EnglishRose1320 Hope you're enjoying your holiday! It's great you're being active!

@Burntumber I haven't been great with eating but I feel motivated to get back on track with exercise and cutting down on the sugar. I'm also going to start another and challenge as I saw a difference with that.

Burntumber · 01/11/2023 08:50

so I am starting afresh again today… my weight is just bouncing up and down a couple of lbs for the past few weeeks. Need to focus and be consistent!

@amiboverd sometimes workouts are really harder than usual for no obvious reason. Hope it’s easier next time! I really need some new trainers and then I am going to look for body combat on YouTube. I have decided that if I do enough free workouts regularly then I can treat myself to a subscription.

I am doing a walk with dh everyday as he is recovering from illness. We did 5k yesterday which is really great.

amiboverd · 05/11/2023 13:40

How are you doing @Burntumber ?

I am starting again tomorrow 🙊

OP posts:
Burntumber · 05/11/2023 21:09

i am doing ok with diet (other than eating 2 yumyums today at my mums house!) but really struggling to get up early and do exercise beyond daily walk with dh.

EnglishRose1320 · 08/11/2023 17:51

Hey, how's everyone doing? I put a few pounds on whilst on holiday, have been back for just over a week and have managed to shift those pounds again, but seem to be stuck atm. I just want to snack all the time.

EmmaPaella · 08/11/2023 17:57

I started slimming world a week or so ago. Exercise isn’t going so well but I am trying to get out for a walk every day. It isn’t always that long. Trying to do a fitness class each week but that’s also quite short!

BaffledOnceAgain · 09/11/2023 00:00

I went on holiday last week. It was a very active few days, but I had no way to continue the Body Coach meal suggestions. Now, I'm struggling to avoid chocolate as I've had a few stressful days. Hoping I can get back to where I was before we went away as I was doing well. I'd lost 2kg (which is nothing for lots of you but takes me ages!) and I look better. Still exercising loads but tired.

Well done to those of you still persevering. I just read through. I guess we need a push for a month or so before the Christmas eating kicks in?

amiboverd · 10/11/2023 13:22

I typed a long reply then lost it!

@Burntumber well done on eating well. I think diet had the most impact on weight for me and I feel like exercise is good for my mental health but I'm struggling to fit it in too. I have started eating well again this week.

@EnglishRose1320 well done for losing the holiday pounds. I feel like I want to eat all the time. I'm working from home today and feel like having some chocolate will make my day better. I have had to remind myself that I will feel so much better if I DONT eat it...

@EmmaPaella Good luck! I know some people swear by slimming world

@BaffledOnceAgain Hope you're ok. I have been stressed with work and therfore not sleeping and eating more but I am trying to at least eat well and have done ok this week.

I definitely want to to give a push before Christmas. It's 6 weeks until Friday 22 December and I might try to stay on the wagon until then and then enjoy Christmas and start again on 1 Jan!

I'll still try not to eat too much over Christmas but we have to enjoy ourselves and the Christmas food and chocs will taste better if we haven't been eating them every day for the past year...

amiboverd · 12/11/2023 09:13

I had a good day of eating yesterday - scrambled egg on toast for breakfast, a glass of fruit juice, two small pieces of French stick with lighter butter and home made cottage pie.

Good by my standards anyway!

I'm now going to try to do some exercise and hopefully my toddler will entertain himself while I do as we are home alone.

I suspect exercising might just make me want to eat more but I have also been feeling a bit down this week and I find exercise good for my mood.

BaffledOnceAgain · 13/11/2023 00:10

Well done amibovered. It's all about building new habits, isn't it? I haven't got back off the chocolate after my holiday yet, but I've not been disastrous this weekend, like I used to be. Have slipped into the kg zone below so still heading in the right direction and continuing, although it's my birthday next week and will be bound to eat crap for a couple of days.

amiboverd · 14/11/2023 09:04

That's good @BaffledOnceAgain

Absolutely enjoy your birthday but you're right about building new habits and I think different ways of thinking as well.

I'm really starting to realise that I don't actually enjoy the sugary stuff when I have loads, as much as I do when I limit myself, and also that I just feel rubbish after. I think if we get into good habits we'll want to eat less rubbish at Christmas and birthdays too but it's also okay not to sometimes I think.

I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 1.5 lb since I weighed myself 10 days ago. I'm happy with that and feel motivated to continue.

BaffledOnceAgain · 15/11/2023 23:28

Well done, AmI. It sounds like we are both heading in the right direction all round.

Burntumber · 17/11/2023 08:32

Well done @amiboverd and @BaffledOnceAgain

i am tantalisingly close to a stone down since September!

dh and I have managed to walk a bit further and my watch notified me this morning my resting heart rate is down this week which I think is good!

I have seen 4 months for the price of 12 on les mills via Facebook- is that a safe way to sign up does anyone know?

amiboverd · 17/11/2023 12:00

Hey @BaffledOnceAgain @Burntumber

@Burntumber I'm not sure - what happens when you click on the link - what's the website it takes you to? I usually click on the three dots to open in browsers

do you mean 12 months for the price of 4 🤔

OP posts:
amiboverd · 17/11/2023 12:04

It's billed as a lump sum too though

I had a look as I was interested but I think I'll stick to the free ones on YouTube for the amount I do it

i am also thinking of joining the gun in Jan

OP posts:
Burntumber · 17/11/2023 12:19

@amiboverd 😂 yes got that the wrong way round! Thanks for the link will check!

EnglishRose1320 · 25/11/2023 00:15

How's everyone doing? I've managed to lose my first stone which feels good & the exercise is still going well. Diet is a bit hit n miss & I'm definitely struggling to cut down sweet food enough.

Doesn't help that I'm having terrible sleep issues atm, so always feel tired.

PaminaMozart · 25/11/2023 00:41

I'm still doing what I always do, mostly... IF, lots of plants and protein, trying - though not always succeeding - to keep off the 🍷and 🍰.

I'm normal weight but would like to be leaner. Just 4-6lb would be nice.

Still working out with Caroline and loving it. Currently dipping in and out of EPIC Heat and Iron. Using mostly 8 and 10kg, but moving forward with my 12.5kg.

Lots of planks and other abs work. Always - this is not negotiable.

amiboverd · 26/11/2023 17:56

I feel so up and down at the moment. It's the weekend and I always relax a bit at the weekend but plan to get back on it tomorrow and be quite strict with myself. Unrelated but I also want to spend less time on my phone.
