I have been trying on and off to lose weight for the past year but now planning to really exercise 3 times a week if I can and cut down on the sugary crap I eat. A but part of it is the habit of wanting something sweet after dinner when I don't even really want it.

Ok - I’m in. Thanks for starting thread. I’m depressed, not working and just a bit of a mess.

Hi @EnglishRose1320 @Iamclearlyamug @Bippertyboo2 @scepticalexpat welcome! 👋

I have just downloaded the Blogilates app and there are some of her challenges on there for free. I'm thinking of starting the abs one and the arms one and that way I'm doing some exercise every day and it's like a full body workout as the and one includes squats and legs exercises as well.

I feel like the odd test day is beneficial so not sure why they don't include these.

Sorry to hear that @SprogTakesAQuarry

Hopefully a new workout schedule will help give you a bit of purpose or motivation

Feel free to chat to us on here

I need to do this. I am 11st 2lb and would prefer to be 10st 4lb. I am planning to eat less and exercise more. Obviously this will work … !?!?

Yahyahs22 · 10/09/2023 18:29

I'm a week tomorrow with cutting out junk food, smaller meal portions and replacing one meal with a meal replacement shake. I have so much more energy and my headache from detoxing the junk had finally subsided.

And are you feeling a tiny bit thinner? My stomach starts to flatten quite quickly if I stop over-indulging

Gloaming23 · 10/09/2023 18:33

Please can I join? Have started so many times and no sticking power. Really struggling in the heat which suspect is due to being over weight. Need accountability!

TheStoryof10 · 10/09/2023 18:33

Yes me, can I join in too!

I've got a family party in 5 weeks and I'd like to just buy something I like that looks nice and not just something that covers up and doesn't dig in!

Icantbelieveyoudidthis · 10/09/2023 18:33

I need some accountability, if you've got room for one more?!

I was very active, fit and healthy until a year ago and a diagnosis threw a bit of a spanner in the works. I feel quite overwhelmed at the loss of my former physical abilities and I think that's been putting me off, having to start from scratch.

@SprogTakesAQuarry you've got this, one day at a time.

Thanks for the thread @amiboverd

I'm in Smile I turn fifty this autumn and would love to get a stone or so off and generally feel a bit healthier. I'm happy with the exercise I do but have noticed I eat a LOT more sugary stuff than I used to. And I don't seem to be able to pass a coffee shop without some form of cake to go with a cuppa. Time to break that habit!

poorremus · 10/09/2023 18:40

I have no ide why cake appeared! That was supposed to be a smile?!

Cosycardigans · 10/09/2023 18:41

Yes please! I'm in a similar boat to @Icantbelieveyoudidthis

I'm trying to cut down on bread cheese crackers and stop filling myself up with just fruit. Cooked a proper lunch and dinner today so that's a start. Have a busy week of appointments this week and don't want to grab sandwiches so hoping to do some daytime cooking so I can take healthy stuff out with me.
Going to try and do as much movement each day as possible. Need to rebuild some muscle tone.

Please can I join. I'm the heaviest I have ever been. This threads are great and give me inspiration and are so supportive.

I wish! In my mind I'm Kate Moss but my mirror says I'm still overweight which is rude.

Forgoodnesssakewhatnow · 10/09/2023 18:45

Yes, I’m in. I’ve already pledged to get back exercising this week once the weather calms down. I’ve stopped drinking wine (or almost) and started to lose a bit of weight already so hoping some exercise will help.

I’m 9st 6ish and would mine to get to 9st 2 (I’m only short).

Bedonkedonk · 10/09/2023 18:46

I'm in too! Like toytransportemergency I have had an injury and been out of action...it would be great to have people to check in with to offer/get support and encouragement!

Bedonkedonk · 10/09/2023 18:48

Same! I often feel like Elle McPherson - some kind of reverse body dysmorphia I think - then see myself in a pic and look like Old Mother Hubbard's chubbier sister. I am quitting the booze for a bit, except at special occasions and getting back to the gym.

PaminaMozart · 10/09/2023 18:49

A couple of YouTube exercise suggestions...

For beginners/if not very fit: Lucy Wyndham Read
If you can cope with short but energetic workouts: Rebecca Louise
A bit more challenging: Heather Robertson
My go-to for HIIT: Growingannanas
For weight training with dumbbells: Caroline Girvan (the gold standard - tough but life-changing)

What shakes are they? Do they make you revenues or is it quite satisfying? Great that you feel more energetic...

HouseofHolbein · 10/09/2023 18:53

Can I join? I've got into a rut and I'm menapausal and over a stone heavier than I want to be.

I've been a bit fed up with my job which hasn't helped but I resigned last week and I don't start my new job for a week so I'm going to try to get into some sort of routine.

I have a treadmill and exercise bike at home as well as weights. I have no excuse really.

I'm setting my alarm now to do a run in the morning before I go up to see my mom.

Sewingbea09 · 10/09/2023 19:13

Yes please, count me in. I actually started a Caroline Girvan challenge this morning and really want to stick to it. I'm the heaviest I've ever been and am so fed up.

GreenMarigold · 10/09/2023 19:19

I’d like to join you too. My exercise levels have really dropped since I gave up running (was slowly getting injured joint by joint).

I am trying to get out and walk instead but whilst the steps are good I don’t think it’s enough for me. If I go too high intensity I start getting exercise-induced migraines though.

I’d like to try some of the YouTube work outs. I’ll follow some of the recommendations on here.

notanotherclairebear · 10/09/2023 20:25

Could I join please? Putting a massive damper on an otherwise positive thread, but my wonderful dad passed away at the end of July from colon cancer. It has terrified me to my core, and I can't stop thinking that my life could be half way done if I don't start looking after myself better and cutting down on UPF. My dad was fit and active and ate well, so I want to give myself half a chance! I haven't exercised regularly since my eldest was born 6 years ago and I'm feeling it, so looking forward to starting again. Swimming tomorrow!

Gymmum82 · 10/09/2023 20:27

Yea please. I’ve had success in weight loss before but have gained 10kg. I’m great with exercise but let myself down making poor choices with food and snacking. I really need to lose the weight quickly as I have a hyrox competition in 6 weeks and I need to get lighter for it

EmmaPaella · 10/09/2023 20:30

I will join!
