Wow @rarathenoisylioness, that's great. Well done. And to the other achievers and those who have managed to keep getting out and doing it.

I got frustrated with not being able to run, and my heel felt ok, so I decided just to go for it. No sign of the splinter having come out, and I can feel something if I press it hard. But felt fine running on it, so W6R2 completed. Kind of excited to try the 25 min run on Tuesday, I hope. Crazy that i was missing running so much after only 5 or 6 weeks of starting!!

Hedgehog26 · 28/06/2020 13:35

Does any know if you pause the app to do a bit of extra walking does it include that distance on your total as well?

Stopthehop · 28/06/2020 14:43

I have a question for the graduates. Now when you go out for a run without the app do you still do the warm up and cool down walks or do you just run?

Also people who are using Strava and the couch to 5k app when you record your run do include the walk sections or just when you're actually running?

JonHammIsMyJamm · 28/06/2020 14:47

I still warm up/cool down walk @Stopthehop. I get injured if I don’t. I usually do .5km at either end.

PrincessWatermelon · 28/06/2020 14:57

@Stopthehop I start Strava (and MapMyRun) when I'm at home. And then I start the c25k app, and then strap my phone on my arm. I only turn them all off once I'm home. So my Strava recording is of all my movements when out. And I normally have a few minutes extra as I can't time my finish to my front door! When I get my new Garmin watch (for my birthday!!) I will be on W7 and I may then start a track for the run only, as it is 25 mins so I'll be interested to see how far I go in just that time. But at the moment I can't access the apps on my phone once I've started.

@Hedgehog26 which app do you mean? Obviously Strava won't record if it's paused. The c25k app doesn't worry about distance, it's only the time that you're out...sorry. Might be misunderstanding your question.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 28/06/2020 15:11

My c25k app (the fitness22 one) maps your run and therefore your distance.

I use Runkeeper to record my runs.

Hedgehog26 · 28/06/2020 15:20

My C25K app gives you your route, distance and calories burnt at the end of each run and you can go back in your history to view them too

Week 9 run 2 done - one run to go! Cant wait

GuyFawkesDay · 28/06/2020 16:01

Maomy run allows a 5min delay. I start c25k, then that, then my music and go. I warm up walk of I go first thing, not if I run in evening. Always walk at end as I don't stiffen up then

Thanks.

Mysterian · 28/06/2020 17:05

I start Strava (and MapMyRun) when I'm at home. And then... - I was so expecting to read "...I drive 3 miles to the park..."

I was wondering about this. I include the warm up and warm down walks in Strava. It's all movement and calories used. You can tell in the graphs where the running starts so I can get timings for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th kilometres.

rarathenoisylioness · 28/06/2020 19:38

I was starting Strava when I left gone and stopped it when I got back so it was recording all of my journey incl warm up and cool down. I graduated last Friday and this week I have been a shambles with my running. Today I redid 9/3 so I had Sarah encouraging me along and started Strava as I was about to run. When I got to 30 mins I checked my distance and just carried on til 5k.

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 28/06/2020 20:55

I do about 0.5km warm up walk then start strava, fiddle on getting it into my belt and then go, just measuring the run. When I stop running I stop strava and then do a short cool down walk. I find it gives me the best idea on pace and distance, I don't want it muddied with walking but that's just my preference. I also like strava giving me prompts on pace and distance every 0.5km now I'm not using the C25k app.

Polkadotties · 28/06/2020 22:29

Week 1 run 1 for me today. I’ve never been a runner but I need to do something alongside riding my horse.
Tired legs this evening!

LambChopsMcGee · 28/06/2020 22:45

I'm restarting w3 tomorrow as I only did R1 last week as it was so hot! Looking forward to it. I hope I can build a proper habit with it like I used to have with the gym in my younger, freer days.

Well done @polkadotties!

Stopthehop · 29/06/2020 09:03

I've just done wk 7 run 2. I changed my route today, ended up down a very isolated road, not sure I will go that way again but it was pretty and nice for a change of scenery.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 29/06/2020 09:21

Welcome @Polkadotties Smile, congratulations on your first run.

I forgot to log yesterday’s run on here. 7km, 6 of them running (jogging really) with 0.5km walks at either end to warm/cool.

FloatOn · 29/06/2020 13:12

Just finished W6 R1, how did I find it more difficult than the 20min run last time?! I had to walk a bit during the 8min run in the middle.
I'm debating whether to repeat it or try R2 on Wednesday and then decide, anyone also in the same boat?

JonHammIsMyJamm · 29/06/2020 13:33

Going back to intervals is really hard, @FloatOn. You’re definitely not the only one to find that difficult. I hated it!

Murmurur · 29/06/2020 13:51

Floaton I've just done W6R2 after doing W6R1 twice. I tend to decide on the day depending on how I'm feeling. For me it's all about just getting out there regularly. Love Jo Whiley, love my playlist!

Welcome Polkadotties. I was thinking on my run today, how I avoided joining this thread in my early days as everyone seemed so far ahead already. I'm so glad I did in the end, and lovely to see new joiners.

PrincessWatermelon · 29/06/2020 14:31

@FloatOn I also found the intervals of W6R1 hard. Run 2 was easier, I think , as it is 2 blocks of 10 mins. But I need to do the 25 mins tomorrow and I'm a bit anxious! I would suggest pushing on to the rest of the week and see how it goes.

FloatOn · 29/06/2020 14:43

Thanks, I'll give R2 a go and see what it's like. I created a new playlist and think I started too fast as I was listening to crazy techno, I'll slow the music down and see how I go!!

Is it baking soda/baking powder that's meant to draw splinters out?

Sexnotgender · 29/06/2020 19:52

W5R1 done, can’t believe I’ve made it to week 5!

Run was ok, temperature has dropped here so quite nice running conditions.

MrsM36 · 29/06/2020 20:57

@Polkadotties

Week 1 run 1 for me today. I’ve never been a runner but I need to do something alongside riding my horse. Tired legs this evening!
I'm also doing C25k alongside riding my horse... my youngster is just starting her ridden career after being backed and then turned away due to me having my youngest daughter. Have just completed Week 6 Run 3... I am so chuffed that I ran for 25 mins tonight! Smile
