@PrincessWatermelon
I looked and looked for a similar app for 5-10k but no joy so just ran a bit further every day 😂

Sexnotgender · 25/06/2020 14:06

Done W4R2, I quite enjoyed it but oh my gosh it was warm out there!

Hedgehog26 · 25/06/2020 16:04

Top tip- sudocrem seems to heal chub rub the quickest. I wore the wrong underwear on my last run so had to borrow some of the baby’s cream

JonHammIsMyJamm · 25/06/2020 17:07

@resipsa, re 10K progression apps, I’ve got this one (fitness22 10K runner). It is designed as a 0-10K app but W9 R1 is the start of the 5- 10K progression. It’s like 2 apps in one.

I’ve just done an enjoyable but very drippy (!) treadmill 5k in 29.5 degree heat. I’m much faster (for me!) in this heat, I think it’s because my muscles are nice and warm.

Was meant to go out today for my slow introduction post shin splints. 20 min run tuesday but felt a niggle in my shin this morning. So tomorrow maybe.
Even twice a week is better than 0

resipsa · 25/06/2020 18:47

Thanks @JonHammIsMyJamm 😁

JonHammIsMyJamm · 25/06/2020 19:16

I realise I’m miles behind the times though as you’ve actually already run a 10K Blush. Well done! Hopefully my post is still useful for anyone else on the hunt for a 10K app.

PrincessWatermelon · 25/06/2020 19:33

@JonHammIsMyJamm , thank you, yes, it is useful. Although seeing 2x20min runs fills me with horror!! How long is it in total, please? As in, you start at week 9, how long is the 5-10k section? Wondering if I have time to complete it before the 10k run!

I have a splinter in my heel. I'm feeling very sorry for myself as it hurts like anything and I can't weight bear at the moment. (Or is it weight bare?) I can see the thick black spike, but it's gone straight in I think and deeply, so can't get it out. Am currently sitting soaking it and hoping my DH will dig around to get it out. Need to do my run tomorrow morning!

JonHammIsMyJamm · 25/06/2020 19:40

w14 r3 is the last one so you’re looking at an extra 5wks.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 25/06/2020 19:42

Obviously that’s if you do it at 3 runs a week. You could complete it faster if you compress the schedule and ran 4 times a week/every other day.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 25/06/2020 19:44

Ouch! Your splinter sounds painful @PrincessWatermelon . Have you got any MagSulph paste to put on overnight and draw the evil little git out?

PrincessWatermelon · 25/06/2020 19:46

I've not heard of MagSulph paste....might resort to the pharmacy tomorrow if we have no joy. Thanks

PrincessWatermelon · 25/06/2020 19:49

@JonHammIsMyJamm - up to 14 weeks. That's an extra 6 weeks from week 9 (inclusive) I think if my maths on my fingers is right! Might just squeeze it in then. Although no time for injuries or splinters!!

Murmurur · 25/06/2020 20:19

Wow. With the splinter, if you have anything like Savlon bung a load of it on and cover with a plaster overnight. It draws splinters pretty well.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 25/06/2020 20:27

Sorry, you’re absolutely right @PrincessWatermelon. Bloody hell Blush

PrincessWatermelon · 25/06/2020 20:33

Thanks @Murmurur , I'm willing to give anything a go! My DH just gave it a good go, but I now have a super painful hole in my heel and a very stubborn splinter in it. I was crying in pain. I think it'll be a trip to Minor Injuries may be required.

LambChopsMcGee · 25/06/2020 20:51

In awe of you all who ran today (in London at least!). I was meant to do W3 R2 yesterday but the day was busy (and hot) so told myself I would today... Then took DD to nursery at 9 and it was already sweltering! I took cover indoors with ice creams for the rest of the day... I'll go tomorrow and am thinking I might repeat week 3 next week?

Cherrypi · 25/06/2020 21:14

Just did week 8 run 1. Can't believe I made it to week 8. Wore a vest top for the first time because of the heat. Only at 3.6km though and that includes the walks.

Sexnotgender · 25/06/2020 21:42

@PrincessWatermelon it’s weight bear, unless you’re getting naked then it’s bare😂

whenwillthemadnessend · 25/06/2020 23:07

Week 2 not as bad as expected and glad heat is dying of tomz. Going to try week 2 run two tomorrow evening

Anyone's that's further on feel there shape has improved?

I need to tone the belly and back fat!!

PrincessWatermelon · 26/06/2020 08:44

Disaster!! Splinter now has a special dressing and I need to wait until Tues to see if it's come out. No running til after then. That's 3 runs I'm missing 😩

sleepwhenidie · 26/06/2020 09:08

Princess splinter sounds horrendous ShockSad

I should have run on Weds and then yesterday but it’s just been too hot - I played tennis both days, that was enough. Thought I’d get out today but it’s like a sauna already (London)...couldn’t sleep and have a sore throat so it may just be a dog walk now before it gets boiling again and a yoga session later. Well done to all of you persevering in the heat!

Sexnotgender · 26/06/2020 09:42

Ouch Princess, that sounds sore!

Murmurur · 26/06/2020 10:01

Ouch Princess I just hope the dressing does it's thing. I failed to run weds and today, it's just too darned hot.

PrincessWatermelon · 26/06/2020 16:52

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the sympathy! Can I count it as my first sports injury?! I'm actually very grateful to my running trainers as they are the most cushioned thing to wear at the moment. They allow me to walk normally.

Good luck to all those attempting a run in the heat.
