Hello ladies I'm joining too!
On my second run of week 1 this week. I have done it before after my first wee one but I stopped and then at the beginning of lockdown the weight has piled on. I've sold most of my clothes (I work in fashion) so this means when I replace them I want them to be a size or two smaller!
It's so inspiring seeing how everybody has done so well with it, it means I know I can get fit again.
I've also been squatting 20kg every other day because I have to get some of this fat shifted Blush
:)

Hi @Bw3344.

I’m just about to start my final week (week 8 on my app). It is really hot here and I don’t really fancy it but I need to get it done today and now is the perfect time. I’m hoping the fact that it’s the last week will motivate me and push me through.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 27/05/2020 20:19

8/1 done.

Horrible, horrible, horrible start (too hot, achy, sicky, a bit lightheaded) but then felt great about halfway in. That seems to be my pattern now.

TryingToBeBold · 27/05/2020 20:22

@JonHamm do you normally run in the evening?

TryingToBeBold · 27/05/2020 20:23

What matters is that you did it. You persevered no matter how hard it got.. and that shows how much you and we have all progressed since Week 1

rarathenoisylioness · 27/05/2020 20:30

@JonHammIsMyJamm I'm the same, it takes me a while to get into the rhythm. I'm quite glad I'm at the end of the interval running and just getting into longer runs (which I never never thought I would say!!).

JonHammIsMyJamm · 27/05/2020 21:07

@TryingToBeBold, I finished at about 6:30pm. I don’t really have a set time. I do prefer to run earlier but it isn’t always possible Smile.

I’m out of the interval stage too, @rarathenoisylioness. Towards the end of the interval sessions I found I was getting frustrated at breaking my rhythm for a walk break just as I’d got into it.

TryingToBeBold · 27/05/2020 21:09

@rarathenoisylioness intervals are hard after non stop running! Crazy how we can say that!

@Jon it's so strange.. I want to try earlier. Later. But I become so paranoid I'll fail. People say it's what works for you.. but of course it works.. I've only tried the one way Grin

BookShop · 27/05/2020 21:47

@JonHammIsMyJamm it’s done. Well done. It’s harder in the heat. I also found the walking annoying at the end. It felt all wrong to get back into a rhythm. Onwards to the next.

Cherrypi · 27/05/2020 22:00

Just did week 5 run 2. Can't believe I can manage 8 minutes. Bit nervous about run 3.

TryingToBeBold · 27/05/2020 22:05

@Cherrypi

Those nerves are real! But I absolutely promise you you can do it. You're running for 16 mins and I know you'll tell me "yes but that was split into two and I was dying at the end of it" (or was that just me?!), but I promise.. somewhere in that 20 mins you will find a rhythm. You'll find a moment where your shoulders will relax and you'll just think.. "I've got this". It might not last long but hold onto it.
A nice.. comfortable pace. A nice route that you are okay with. And any music you would use.
You'll do great!

Igotta · 27/05/2020 23:08

I graduated a few weeks ago and now try to run every other day, between 3/5km. 5k takes me 40 minutes not 30 though.

Today I was planning on a 4K but had to stop after 2.5 as I was just done. It's stupid but I feel disappointed with myself.

I hope one day I'll feel like a real runner.

To all those just starting, keep going. When you do your first 5K it's a wonderful feeling.

imamearcat · 28/05/2020 06:36

I'm up super early for week 4, run 1!! I actually feel like I'm really looking forward to running now. So unusual for me to be up this early (in lockdown anyway).

I'm having a coffee and a banana. Feel like today might be a bit of a challenge (2x 5 min runs and 2x 3 mins). I can do this.,

chunkyrun · 28/05/2020 07:33

What equipment are people using? Think I need some impact sports bras. Ones I use for weight lifting don't stop impact. Feeling happy though. Noticed my leggings slipping down today. They were rather snug when I started.

imamearcat · 28/05/2020 07:50

Feeling so pleased with myself!!! Had a really good run for week 4, run 1. Covered so much more distance with the longer runs - did 5km in 40 mins. Think I will be able to do 5k in 30 mins when I can run the whole way so that is my aim. 💪💪💪

Think the running trainers helped although my toes were a bit squished!

TryingToBeBold · 28/05/2020 07:52

@Igotta you ARE a runner! Not every runner is a racer. But you are a runner! It doesnt matter if 5k or 2.5k or more or less. You are!

TryingToBeBold · 28/05/2020 07:53

@chunkyrun

Ditch the leggings!! Too hot! Shorts and be free!

imamearcat · 28/05/2020 08:10

@TryingToBeBold I've just ordered some shorts, but are running shorts really 'short'? I'm a bit worried I will feel self conscious. On the plus side at least shorts might help get tanned legs in this weather!

TwistyHair · 28/05/2020 08:16

Yes running shorts are really short!

peasando · 28/05/2020 08:26

So after doing week 1 run 1 yesterday my thighs and bum are agony and I can only move around in a very elegant waddle/limp. Is there any chance this is going to improve in time for me to do my second run tomorrow? Or ever??!!

NoTeaForMe · 28/05/2020 08:56

I’ve got W6 R2 to do today. Last day of intervals, can’t believe how far I’ve come!

It looks set to be another hot, hot day here. I should have got up and out but I’m not sleeping well at the moment so it so hard to get out of bed in the morning. Then I always start disappointed that I didn’t get up. I’ve just had a small bowl of granola and yoghurt with a cup of tea. How long do I have to leave it before I run?

chunkyrun · 28/05/2020 09:23

Tryingtobebold

I'm not quite there yet x

NoTeaForMe · 28/05/2020 09:35

chunkyrun I have Capri shorts, they’re just below the knee. I got mine from sports direct.

TryingToBeBold · 28/05/2020 10:17

My running shorts are short. I give them a self conscious tug down during my warm up but after that I'm too busy trying not to die running to care

@NoTea online recommends 2 hours after light meal and 4-5 after a big one.

Did W8. R2. Pushed it to 30 mins running (I did 38 for R1 because I'm a rebel). Found it tough. Different route. Different morning routine. Also paused for a breather halfway and never truly got my rhythm back. I wanted to push to 5k but oh well.

It is what it is. R3 here we come.

@peasando R2 is hard of the week. If it helps try and only do 3 runs a week rather than definitely every other day so you get a 2 day break between one of the runs. That's helpful for me.

Sunshineandflipflops · 28/05/2020 10:27

I don't really wear shorts to run in as I find my thighs can chafe in them when running in the heat. I made that mistake once and regretted it!
I find I'm ok in cropped running tights and a vest top.
