Back on 30 day shred after years of phoning it in at the gym. Just stepped up to level 2. It’s so hard 😭😭

Evening, lovely fierce ladies giving it your all - you are champions! The weather is terrible again here. It's so depressing, but now I have WWL I can stick two fingers up to the rain and do my thang in the comfort of the living room (with the dog staring at me in bemusement). ✌🐶

Going to stick with my plan of Ri30 to take me through Christmas and into January, then have another week 'off' (ha, ha!) and tackle BR over 45 days (good call roonetta), which should take me to the end of March.

8 miles fairly flies by when you have lovely things to look at. I have my music on and left my mind drift. It's like meditation and really helps my mental health. I go a bit nuts if I don't get outside for a walk for a couple of days.

40 mins Bodyjam class (dance/cardio)
2 mile WWL

Yesbutno · 11/12/2020 11:57

You're all amazing I've been so lazy this week

Had a watch of BR on that website and googled how it works. It looks good - hard but fun! I'll probably start it in the new year or should I start now and just have Xmas day as a rest day? Hmmm...

roonetta · 11/12/2020 20:30

In the office today so only 2 miles WWL (22/30)

AlgonquinBay · 11/12/2020 22:38

We are champions you are right cardigans!!

I was going to have a rest day today as had a 12-hour shift at work, but couldn't resist trying a WWL Happy Mile at 6.30am to get me started for the day! Enjoyed it SmileSmile

OublietteBravo · 12/12/2020 09:16

I had an unplanned rest day yesterday. So I made sure I exercised first thing today before I lost motivation. I also had a day off Ri30 and did BFBM instead.

TinyHouseFan · 12/12/2020 09:40

Hello!! Remember me? I'm still here, but no Jillian and only a few runs (10km done this morning).
My house is still a mess, painters in three rooms right now and stuff for painting in one other, getting curtains cleaned and rehung, new cabinets built in and some electric repairs. It will (hopefully!) all look great in a week or two but I hate this mess right now and even though I'm not actually doing any of the work, it's so stressful having your house turned upside down.

On top of that, I'm feeling a bit of pressure from college and a new job and the general build up to Christmas so not a lot of time to prioritise fitness I'm afraid.

I'm still planning on the half marathon though so I want to run 18km tomorrow.. Eek!

Sounds like your guys are all crushing it with your own workouts so well done. BR is good fun and like the mixed up 30DS, I'm intrigued by the idea to do it in 45 days. I'm such a rule follower though that even the thought of an imaginary trainer who recorded a DVD 10 years ago thinking I'm "cheating" fis me with dread! GrinBlush

roonetta · 12/12/2020 15:36

Hi Tiny 😃 - well done on keeping up with the half marathon training with everything you have going on. You must be exhausted. It will all be worth it like you say, but it is stressful when the house is upside down and everything is covered in dust.

4 mile WWL (26/30)

AlgonquinBay · 12/12/2020 22:20

Hi again Tiny - 18km sounds amazing with everything else you've got going on. Well done. We had some building work done last year and I remember how stressful it was.
Day 7 of BR for me this morning - am loving it! Xmas Grin

roonetta · 13/12/2020 14:45

Last 4 miles done taking me to 30 🥳 - was going to do an extra mile but couldn’t summon up the motivation. I found it quite hard trying to fit in over an hour’s workout every day, even splitting it into smaller portions throughout the day, as I’m used to only having to find just over 30 mins with Jillian.

4 miles WWL (30/30).

OublietteBravo · 13/12/2020 17:55

Well done @roonetta Star

Second consecutive weekend exercise day for me: Ri30 L2D10 and KAbs L2

AlgonquinBay · 13/12/2020 18:44

Well done roonetta on meeting your goal!! Xmas Smile

AlgonquinBay · 13/12/2020 18:45

Day 8 of BR for me here and a 3 mile run with my friend.

ilovecardigans · 13/12/2020 23:06

Great job, roonetta - walking tall like a true champion! 👏🤝

How was your 18K, Tiny? The furthest I've run in my life is 13K (8 miles), when I was a super fit young thing at uni, so I take my hat off to you - especially with all the other things you've got going on. 🎩

Algonquin & Oubliette still kicking ass with Jillian. Boom! 💥

No fear here - we are toughing it out like shield maidens in a battle!

It's rained non-stop here since Thursday, so confined to barracks. Did naff all on Friday (couldn't summon up any enthusiasm), but back on it yesterday & today in readiness for Ri30 starting tomorrow.

Saturday - 3 mile boosted WWL; 15 mins hula hooping
Sunday - NMTZ; 2 mile boosted WWL

Was outraged to discover that I burned more calories doing WWL than NMTZ! S'not fair. Huff...

roonetta · 14/12/2020 11:06

Thanks everyone.

Glad you are enjoying BR Algonquin - it's quite addictive.

I know what you mean about burning more calories with WWL cardigans, it's quite surprising how much you can burn, especially with the boosted walks.

Started Body Shred today which I found okay, although I had to do the wide push ups on my knees. Puffed and panted my way through but got it done as soon as I dropped the kids at school. I'm not 100% sure how it works, but think it's similar to BR so workouts 1 and 2, then cardio and then workouts 1 and 2 again. I think you are supposed to do 2 lots of cardio but I am only going to do 1 so that means I am working out 5 times a week. Think I will need the two rest days when I get to the higher levels.

BS WO1 done

OublietteBravo · 14/12/2020 19:33

Ri30 L3D9 & 6W6P L1. Definitely not my favourite level of Ri30!

ilovecardigans · 14/12/2020 21:53

Joy unconfined - it's finally stopped raining!! Managed a decent walk and got cracking on R130. Unfortunately, I forgot I was having my flu jag today, so I struggled a bit with the upper body work, as my left arm was really sore. Hopefully will be better tomorrow.

Ri30 L1 Day 1
5 mile brisk walk

p.s. Finally got my decs up (notwithstanding -The Grinch- Mr Cardigan)! 🎄🎅Glitterball

PuppyDogEyes13 · 15/12/2020 09:55

Hello ladies/Jillian Fans
Please can I join you? An ardent Jillian fan for many years I'm finding it really hard to make myself finish 30 Day Shred this time (which I'm doing to try to combat pre-Xmas weight gain). It always worked really well for me in the past, but not so this time. I appear to have put on weight and have lost no inches thus far. :-(
I blame the peri-menopause...
I also get bored very easily which is part of the problem....
Tell me your Jillian success stories to spur me on!! Thank you. xx

roonetta · 15/12/2020 13:03

Urgh, dreaded L3 Oubliette - I admire your determination, I just avoid that one altogether Blush

Hope your arm feels better tomorrow cardigans. Glad you overruled The Grinch and got those decs up! Grin

Welcome @PuppyDogEyes13 - you have come to the right place if you are a Jillian fan. I have done 30DS several times over the years and in May this year started back with Jillian as I had put on a bit of weight during lockdown. Started with 30DS, then moved on to Ri30, Body Revolution, 30DS again and I have now started Body Shred. I have lost a total of 20lbs. I didn't lose much during the first 30DS either but if you keep things consistent, the weight does start to come off. If you are bored with 30DS, maybe change things up a little and do one of Jillian's other workouts? The ladies are so motivating on this thread, so please hang around and hopefully it will rub off!

BS WO2 done

PuppyDogEyes13 · 15/12/2020 17:26

Thank you - I know I just need to persevere....
How does Body Revolution and Body Shred compare to the original Shred? I never got on with 6W6P.....

OublietteBravo · 15/12/2020 19:10

@roonetta - it’s not so bad when you know you only have to do 2 days of it! Ri30 L3D10 & 6W6P L2. On to L4...

Welcome @PuppyDogEyes13. I have a whole suite of Jillian DVDs. Ri30 is probably most similar to 30DS (although I don’t have Body Revolution, so can’t comment on that one)

ilovecardigans · 15/12/2020 21:37

Hi PuppyDogEyes and welcome to our merry band of workout warriors! I get bored easily too, so a few of us recently did 30 Day Shred with a twist (L1, L2, L3 on consecutive days, then repeat until 10 days of each level were completed). I found this way much more palatable than 10 days at each level before moving on to the next. And having my fellow workout champions around for motivation really helped too.

I completed 30DS on 6 Dec and have just embarked on Ripped in 30 (started yesterday) after a week 'off' from Jillian. I tend to focus on inch loss and body fat reduction rather than weight. I lost a good half inch off both my waist & hips and dropped 2% body fat in the 5 weeks it took to complete this round of 30DS. I'm 56 next month and have been on HRT for over two years, so no stranger to the joys (Xmas Angry) of the menopause!

Lovely day for a walk today. I met a large swan on the pavement by the estuary, which was... interesting (he hissed at me) and one of the boats in the harbour was all lit up with fairy lights - beautiful. Alas, no Ri30 today as my left arm is so sore I can barely raise it. Will take today as a rest day instead of Thursday, but it's annoying.

6 mile brisk walk

PuppyDogEyes13 · 16/12/2020 10:43

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
I've decided to do RIP30 and did my first day today (and enjoyed it!).
I also burnt more calories that 30 Day Shred, which is a positive thing. I think last time I did RI30 I gave up on level 3; I seem to remember the cardio is particularly hard.....
It's a miserable rainy day here but I have a post exercise glow and feel great!

OublietteBravo · 16/12/2020 19:30

Ri30 L4D9 & 6W6P L1. Just one more day and that’ll be 40 days of Ri30 done.

AlgonquinBay · 16/12/2020 20:57

Welcome to the thread puppy! It did make me laugh when I saw you had called it RIP30!! Grin

A rest day for me today as I was working so did a few miles WWL before work today - I'll do days 11&12 of BR tomorrow

ilovecardigans · 16/12/2020 21:46

Ri30 L1 Day 2
2 mile brisk walk

Seriously lacking in enthusiasm & energy today. So, so tired and just... flat.
