Back on 30 day shred after years of phoning it in at the gym. Just stepped up to level 2. It’s so hard 😭😭

How did you both find 6W6P L2, Oubliette and Algonequin? I thought it was really a step up from L1 so I don't know are you supposed to do one for three weeks then the other or alternate every day?
It's kind of a moot point as I skipped it entirely this week, just did one WO from BR and as of this evening, 32 total KMs run..

I found out I passed my first college assignment in 20 years too so I think a night off and a glass of wine is deserved in this house!! 🍷

I probably won't post much till Monday so keep it up ladies..

roonetta · 05/12/2020 16:21

Congratulations on the assignment Tiny Star Wine - well deserved glass of wine and feet up.

I like WWL as it is gentle on the old joints cardigans and I seem to burn a tonne of calories in a 30 minute workout. Leslie can be quite annoying though, although I have found the more I do, the more I kind of like her.

30DS L3 (D29) done, one day to go. I think we might be finishing at the same time cardigans 👏👏

ilovecardigans · 05/12/2020 21:40

Nice one, Tiny. Enjoy your rest day and wine.

Last day of 30DS tomorrow, so we will finish at the same time, roonetta. A glass of something fizzy may be in order I think! 🍾🥂

Managed a decent walk outside today, although it did rain for about 15 minutes 2 miles in, which was horrid.

30DS L2 Day 29 done 👍
6 mile brisk walk

roonetta · 06/12/2020 11:58

30DS L1 (D30) done ✅. I ended on L1 but see you are ending on L3 cardigans so think I must have mixed up the workouts somewhere along the way. Think I got the better end of the deal 😁

Setting myself a little challenge for the next week of 30 miles WWL. Giving Jillian a break for a week before I attempt Body Shred.

AlgonquinBay · 06/12/2020 16:26

Well done on the assignment Tiny ThanksWine- hope you enjoyed your Friday night wine! (Friday!!? Where did the weekend go?) As for 6W6P- I didn't think L2 was so bad actually. I think there are 3 levels and you do each level for 2 weeks and then move on.

Did a 3 miler yesterday morning and then today decided I'd start Body Revolution Shock Not sure what I've let myself in for, but I'll give it a go GrinAND I was very exited to see Natalie and Anita back in the room. Like seeing old friends.

30 miles of walking in a week Roonetta sounds like quite a challenge! How many hours will that take? Go you!!

I do fancy trying that WWL

OublietteBravo · 06/12/2020 18:51

Planned rest day yesterday. I was very tempted to have a second rest day. But I didn’t. Instead I finished off Ri30 - L4D8 and KAbs L2.

@roonetta - good luck! I’d definitely struggle to do 30 miles a week. I wonder if I even walk that far a month...

ilovecardigans · 06/12/2020 22:34

Another filthy day weather wise, so I tried out Walk with Leslie & really enjoyed it! She's a nice instructor and the moves are straightforward (unlike Les Mills, which often sees me falling over my own feet and getting very frustrated). Simple yet effective. Will definitely do more, so thanks very much for the recommendation roonetta! Well done on finishing 30DS - I think you might have squeezed an extra workout in there, as you finished on L1. Grin

30DS L3 Day 30 done 👍 so 30DS finished in 5 weeks. Wahey!
30 min Walk with Leslie

Good luck with your workouts and challenges next week, lovely ladies.

roonetta · 07/12/2020 15:40

Hope you enjoy BR Algonquin - parts of it are tough but I really liked the good vibes and the fun banter she has with the cast. Generally 1 mile WWL takes 15 minutes if it’s a boosted walk. I managed 5 miles today but may not be able to do that every day. I hope I haven’t set myself up to fail Confused

Glad you enjoyed WWL cardigans and well done on completing the Shred. I don’t know about you but I was quite glad not to have to do it today 😄

WWL 5 miles (5/30)

OublietteBravo · 07/12/2020 19:33

Strength: NMTZ. Debating what to do next. I might just do another 2 days of each level of Ri30 (to take it to Ri40 I suppose Grin)

ilovecardigans · 07/12/2020 22:32

So glad to not to be doing 30DS today, roonetta! Weather has been utterly evil again today, so I did a 3 mile WWL, which I enjoyed.

Forecast for tomorrow is vile (again... urgh!), so I'll keep on walking with Leslie and attempt Bodyattack United (which will probably kill me, as it's 51 minutes of frenzied cardio & strength).

TinyHouseFan · 08/12/2020 08:29

Morning..
Not a great fitness week for me here, we had a carpenter in yesterday and painters all week and short notice family visited over the weekend (lockdown is reduced here in Ireland).
My house is a state with the painters, the TV is disconnected, furniture all over the place, etc so no time or space to get any Jillian done.
I did run 16km on Sunday though so go me!!

Good luck with BR, Algonequin, I loved it and found it had enough variety and progression to keep doing it for 90 days.

Yesbutno · 08/12/2020 10:19

Hi all - I was on this thread months ago but just haven't posted, although I've been doing JM workouts since July and just finished a 30 day challenge which was a mix of NMTZ, BFBM and Shred 1 and 2 which got harder as the days went on and some days combined 2 workouts! Can I ask where you're all getting BR from? I would love to do this but don't think the DVD is available any more - do I have to join JM's app?

roonetta · 08/12/2020 16:47

Good luck with Bodyattack cardigans, it sounds tough.

Sounds like you haven’t had a moment to yourself Tiny. A 16k run is amazing, and you managed some time away from the chaos.

Welcome back yesbutno. Sounds like you have been killing it! I did BR on a Chinese website called BiliBili.com. If you type Jillian Michaels in the search bar you get up loads of her workouts. Hope this helps.

5 miles WWL done. (10/30)

OublietteBravo · 08/12/2020 19:53

Ri30 L1D9 & KAbs L1

ilovecardigans · 08/12/2020 22:02

Go Tiny - 16K is awesome! Sounds like you've got it all going on at the moment, so very hard to find time for yourself.

Great work, yesbutno. I'll be using BiliBili.com for Ri30, as recommended by roonetta (thank you so much for that - it's brilliant!).

Bodyattack was mental. Like 1980s high impact aerobics on steroids. I burned 537 calories in 50 minutes and my back is knacking. Going for a nice long gentle walk tomorrow if I can actually get out of bed...

AlgonquinBay · 08/12/2020 22:24

Thanks for the positive vibes about body revolution - did Day 2 today and I'm slightly worried by the fact that Jillian keeps mentioning how "easy" the first two weeks are, and think I will be in for a shock in week 3! Just in time for Christmas ho ho ho Xmas BlushXmas Smile

Hi @Yesbutno - I have also been using bilibili, (which is fab) thanks to the recommendations from the lovely ladies here. I subscribed to the Jillian app at the weekend though - I think it was about £26 for 3 months, so not too bad. It's just quicker for me to use.

16km is awesome TinySmile** - you go girl!! You will smash that half marathon on Christmas Eve.

I am also in awe of your 30 mile walking challenge roonetta you are awesome tooSmile

Such a great thread GrinGrinGrin

Yesbutno · 09/12/2020 08:55

Thanks all I'll check out that website. So it's 90 days and a different workout each day - is that right? Must confess I've done nothing this week due to a particularly heavy TOTM but I'm in awe of you all doing JM and also long walks - very inspiring! I walk the dog but it's hardly a power walk as he constantly sniffs so it's me dragging him along. Must get back into it, especially with all the food and drink that'll be consumed in the coming weeks! This is the plan I followed if anyone's interested:

Hello again Natalie and Anita
AlgonquinBay · 09/12/2020 15:15

That's right yesbutno 90 days and there is a different workout each day. I think you do 4 x weights workouts and 2 x cardio workouts each week and have 1 x rest day. All about 30 mins long. Or at least they are on week 1!

Your 30 day challenge looks intense - well done for completing it!! That might be my next challenge Smile

Today I did day 3 and 4 of BR as I was catching up. I'm loving it!!!

AlgonquinBay · 09/12/2020 15:19

Also - I got on the scales yesterday and I lost 3 kgs last month while I was doing the 30DS HaloGrinGrinGrin

There is something magical about Jillian's workouts I swear StarStarStar

roonetta · 09/12/2020 19:06

That’s a fab calorie burn cardigans, is Body Attack available on YouTube?

Thanks Algonquin Blush - Body Rev does get harder at about workout 5 but by that time you are most definitely stronger. It must be a cardio day for you tomorrow, hope you enjoy it. Well done on the weight loss, it’s such a great motivator isn’t it? You are right about Jillian being magical Star

Another 5 miles WWL done (15/30) - my calves are feeling it.

OublietteBravo · 09/12/2020 19:15

I seem to gain weight doing Jillian Blush

Ri30 L1D10 & KAbs L2

ilovecardigans · 09/12/2020 22:49

Well done, Algonquin - that's brilliant. I lost a good half inch off my hips and waist respectively, which is pretty bloomin' magical for me at my age!

Now swithering between doing Ri30 and Body Revolution, as BR does sound good. 90 days is a big commitment though and I really do need to start using my Les Mills subscription more. Will decide on Monday.

Thanks for posting your plan, Yesbutno. Dammit, that one sounds really good too and delivers great results according to t'interweb.

Thanks, roonetta - well done on another 5 miles, you are slaying that 30 mile target! Unfortunately, Bodyattack isn't one of the free workouts on Les Mills YouTube channel, but there are a few others (see below link). They are offering a free 30 day trial at the moment though, if you wanted to try it out.

www.youtube.com/channel/UChJHUmT_EREEs4WV6jpmnBw

Oubliette - I bet you've gained muscle and lost body fat. I was getting despondent at lack of 'weight' loss earlier this year and was advised to get a body fat scale. It's totally changed my way of thinking.

Weather much better today. Still cold and damp, but not actually raining - yay! Suffering from serious cabin fever after the last 2 days, so made the most of being out and walked for 2 and a quarter hours round our beautiful town and along the prom enjoying all the Christmas lights in the house windows. I'll definitely sleep tonight. 💤

8 mile brisk walk.

roonetta · 10/12/2020 15:39

Thanks for the link cardigans 😊. You could do BR for one week of each phase instead of two, that way it’s only 45 days. It is a really good programme. And WOW on the 8 miles!!!

I second what cardigans says Oubliette - the reason you don’t lose weight with Jillian is because your muscles must be huge with the amount of workouts you do - the fat doesn’t stand a chance!

5 more miles WWL (20/30)

AlgonquinBay · 10/12/2020 15:49

8 miles! That's one heck of a walk cardigans well done Smile

I also agree Oubliette that you have probably gained muscle, as you are training a lot

You are smashing your 30 mile walking target roonetta

Day 5 of BR here and my arms are really aching today so I'm excited about the results in 90 days. The idea of doing it in 45 is a good one though, I have to say 90 days sounds like a long time for one programme.

OublietteBravo · 10/12/2020 19:41

I moved back to L2 and the evil plank cardio circuit: Ri30 L2D9 & KAbs L1

It’s very kind of you all to suggest that my weight gain is muscular. I suspect it’s more likely to be cheese, wine and general snacking. Entirely my own fault.
