Haha I know what you mean about the 'few more' Grin

clearsommespace · 19/08/2019 12:45

What did you decide?

L2 Ripped again today. My right forearm hurt yesterday and today when I do the serving biceps so I am doing those one armed.

eh... i ended up with a hangover on sunday (and was working early saturday and monday) so only actually did L1D8 yesterday cause it was dry enough to walk on tuesday.

my right knee was really bothering me for the last few days but funnily enough the switch up to level 2 today seems to have helped with that. has also made me recollect that i'm really not all that(!) cause i was struggling, out of puff and had to take a 30 second break at one point Wine i did do most of it with the 4kg weights but had to switch half way through circuit 3 because i really was losing the will to live.

quite fancy fitting in some RI30 ahead of end Sept but at this rate am going to struggle to get through all of 30DS...

hope your arm is feeling better - it is v frustrating when something like that comes up.

clearsommespace · 26/08/2019 06:53

Must be something in the air. I skipped Thursday due to one too many Wine with friends after work on Wednesday!
After 4 days at L2, I have moved up to quadtastic L3 which doesn't have any moves that put strain on my forearm.

Good luck with L2 Shred !

L2D4 this morning - still really struggled with circuit 3 (bloody chair squats with v-raises!!) but the first 2 circuits weren't as bad after a couple of days break.

i think the step up in terms of the weights is making a difference but is also making me properly knackered so I'm having to have more break days cause there are some nights when I feel almost flu-y going to my bed...

clearsommespace · 28/08/2019 14:39

Are you using 4 kg on the V-raises?
I did L4 Ripped today after 3 days (I think) on L3.
Next week will be a weird week so I want to finish my mini-ripped by then.
We should be back into a routine by the 2nd week of September.

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 28/08/2019 18:37

today i could hardly do them even with the 3kg weights... i did pretty well up till that point but then kind of lost it Blush

will def keep going for another 3-4 days and see how it goes. you're managing to keep up the pace much better!

Ihatesundays · 30/08/2019 22:18

Can I join?

I’ve just done level 1 for the first time in years, been doing a lot of HITT so thought it would be easy - I’m so tired now! Don’t know what it is she does but I am wiped out!

clearsommespace · 31/08/2019 13:29

Welcome!
Sturm I am not lifting such heavy weights as you although I think I can enviseage 4kg on some of the easier moves. DS needs new trainers for school sports so I will investigate when we go shopping.
L4 on Thursday and nothing since.

Sturmundcalm · 01/09/2019 08:34

good to see you @Ihatesundays - JM does indeed seem to have the knack of putting individual exercises together in a way that leaves you feeling completely wiped out...

L2D7 done this morning - getting better overall. I did the whole of circuit 3 with the 3kg weights and managed the first set of chair squats/v-raises although couldn't make it through the whole of the second set. Won't be able to do the next 2 days and poss not Wed either cause of work so aiming to finish level 2 by next Sat.

clear - I think the heavier weights prob are worth considering even if it's just for some exercises. E.g. for me in Shred level 1 the dumb-bell row in the middle felt like more of a challenge with the 4kg weights whereas before it had always felt like a bit of a breather point.

chimichangaz · 12/09/2019 20:14

I did L1 day 4 yesterday and I am broken - broken I tell you!

I used to do the shred about 5 years ago and although it was tough, I could keep going. I am currently in bed as I am so knackered..I didn't want to get up this morning. Admittedly I have done a brisk 30 minute walk each lunchtime for the last three days too and I am sure that is contributing - my shins are hurting, my hip is super sore, my legs generally hurt as do my shoulders and arms. To make it worse, I'm doing SlimmingWorld (loosely) and having lost 5.5lb in the first two weeks I have now put 3lb back in in the last two!!

I'm not sure if I can keep going with this, should I just power through or find something else? I'm 53, again that probably makes a difference to my weight and my capacity for a tough workout!

Sturmundcalm · 12/09/2019 21:47

if you've done 4 days in a row i would take at least 1 if not 2 days off and see how you feel. having revisited the shred after doing a few different JM DVDs I do think the shred level 1 is the worst for my knees so possibly it doesn't suit you...

i tend to only do light exercise (at the most) on a day i've done one of the HIIT workouts as otherwise i do end up properly knackered.

clearsommespace · 14/09/2019 18:15

Hi chimi
Age definitely makes a difference. I first did the Shred in 2011. I am now the other side of 40 and it is definitely tougher even though I am fitter. I don't expect things to improve when I am the other side of 50. Sad
I used to be warming up with 5 minutes of waking. Now I need 20+ minutes pottering before I can face it!
Hope a break did the trick!
Yoga Meltdown is a bit gentler than the Shred.
Did 5 different workouts this week Sun-Thur including Killer Buns and Thighs which I felt for several days after.

chimichangaz · 14/09/2019 22:07

Thanks both! Had Thursday and Friday off from it and felt like a new woman! Did it this morning so let's see how it goes for the next few days!! Oh and I hear ya about needing 20 mins pottering to get going....!

clearsommespace · 17/09/2019 09:41

Hope the break did the trick.
No more trouble zones Sunday
L2 Shred yesterday
6 pack L1 today

Quite enjoying mixing them up!

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 17/09/2019 17:53

I've switched back to no more trouble zones despite only doing 5 days of L3 Shred - was finding that I wasn't working up a sweat until the 3rd circuit.

Whereas NMTZ is killing me... Really need to try and do the triceps section first as by the time I get to it I just can't do it! Think my triceps are my weakest part of me so do need to try and build up but honestly "want to die" - JM would be so proud Wine

clearsommespace · 26/09/2019 18:45

I can't imagine doing L3 Shred without sweating. Maybe in the Artic!
Had a good week last week mixing things up and Monday and Tuesday this week.
But we have guests who I don't know well enough to inflict my workout self on at the moment so nothing for a few days Sad.

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 30/09/2019 16:41

TBF, once I get to the 3rd circuit I'm sweating but I've always found level 2 of the shred a tougher workout overall... and it is a lot colder up here!

having only done NMTZ recently my cardio fitness has definitely dropped - had to run upstairs for a train while carrying bags the other day and REALLY felt it in a way I wouldn't have a few months ago. have ordered the banish fat boost metabolism DVD to give that a try. not getting much walking in at the moment cause of both work and weather...

drspouse · 02/10/2019 08:12

Hello and help!
I did 30DS before. Then I started C25K after s long break. Then I got sciatica because of inflammation in my hip (bursitis). Then I did loads of yoga and my sciatica is better. But my hip still hurts. And I've put on a load of weight.
I tried 30DS yesterday and the day before and it hurts again.
The structure really helps me so I'd like to try it with upper body cardio instead of lower body.
I could just do the punches all the way through but I'd prefer something else!
My hip tells me really quickly if something isn't good so I can try different things.
Any ideas? I looked on YouTube but it seems to all need machines.

drspouse · 02/10/2019 08:14

Though on the bright side, I do loads of walking and I didn't find L1 TOO hard fitness-wise.

clearsommespace · 03/10/2019 11:30

That sounds really tough. I don't know what to suggest. It's probably a question for a specialist.

OP posts:
drspouse · 03/10/2019 14:45

I have found a few things like arm running and chair jumping jacks and a gave a few of them a go this morning and they DO work up a sweat so I'm going to try and sub those in to Level 1 and see how my hip feels.

Sturmundcalm · 04/10/2019 12:15

yeah, I'm afraid like clearsomme I'm really not sure what to suggest... are you ok with the strength stuff, is it just the cardio? i tended to find that the lunge stuff was hard going on my knees/hips as well - probably harder than the cardio.

you could look at something like 6week 6pack? it's been a while since i did it but my recollection of level 1 is that lots of it was mat-based and it really did improve my core strength.

drspouse · 04/10/2019 12:19

I did arm running and the boxing instead of the other cardio today and it was hard! I'll see how my hip feels tomorrow.

clearsommespace · 05/10/2019 17:25

I did a work out yesterday with 'speed bag' which was good cardio just with the arms.
