clearsomme I also have done something to my upper back. I felt like I'd slept on it funny and then something went yesterday when I put 17mo dd down a bit awkwardly.

It's agony. I went to the gp today and she gave me some exercises and some codeine!

I'm so cross that I can't finish the 30ds as I was so proud to have reached level 3 on Saturday.

Sturmundcalm · 20/05/2019 17:54

that's harsh @lovelyjubilly... i well remember the frustration of injuring myself while doing the shred and having to start all over again - hope you recover soon as well!

clearsommespace · 21/05/2019 05:47

I feel your frustration lovelyjubilly. I hope you recover soon. It sounds like you are in a lot of pain.
I have a weak spot in my upper back and havr suffered repeated torticollis. This is the same spot but no-where near as painful or restrictive. However, given my age I think it's best to stick to yoga stretches and walking until everything feels normal again.
Have arranged to walk with a friend this evening.

L2 is really quite hideous isn't it Sturm. I think I know the twisting movement that you mean. It took me a while before I could contemplate adding a weight.

waaah! am also going to be sitting on the time-out bench for a few days at least...

level 2, day 4 this morning and I had to give up half way through as my lower back was really bothering me. still sore all through stretching, etc so going to do nothing for the rest of today!

bought a yoga book last weekend so might be spending this weekend studying that Hmm

clearsommespace · 23/05/2019 14:45

Oh no. Sad
I just came on to say I am back in action.
Did 6 week 6 pack L1 this morning.
I found yoga with Jen and yoga with Adrienne useful on YouTube.

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 24/05/2019 05:58

can't actually work out what is up - initially felt like lower back pain but then seemed to switch between sciatic-type pain and kidney-type pain! going to do nothing again today and see how I get on, will do something tomorrow even if just yoga (I have done Adrienne a couple of time so prob will look her back up!).

well done on getting back in action!

Sturmundcalm · 27/05/2019 19:34

level 2 day 4 completed this morning - fingers crossed i can keep going now!

clearsommespace · 28/05/2019 14:11

Fingers crossed indeed.
L1 Yoga Meltdown today. I want to do some more 6 week 6 pack this week but I have had rubbish sleep over the past few days so couldn't face it this morning.

@lovelyjubilly How are you feeling?
@Zaor How are you progressing?

I did Shred L2 yesterday and 6 pack L2 just now.
You know a workout is tough when twisting planks feel like a welcome break 😁
I can't quite believe I did the whole programme!

Zaor · 31/05/2019 14:28

Hi
@clearsommespace

Thanks for checking in- not sure if I linked you correctly! I know what you mean about the sleep - lack of it is the one thing that will always knock me back.

I'm going slowly but better than last time. Due to move to L2 today but had physio on my calf this morning and its a bit tender so will stay will L1 and start on L2 tomorrow. Not sure if I'm ready as I'm still doing the easy ones on some of the exercises but I'm ready for a change.
You all seem like you are experts at this - its really motivating me to keep going even if I'm a bit slow...

Sturmundcalm · 31/05/2019 16:22

Level 2 day 7 complete - need to report in partly to keep track of myself!

And I found myself thinking thank god, plank twists this morning clear Grin

@Zaor - I always moved up at the point I was due to no matter what level I'd reached with individual moves. Which means that I still can't do a push up properly but meh...

Zaor · 01/06/2019 20:00

L2 Day 1 done - and with a hangover! It really challenged my co-ordination, trying to send feet one way and twist other way didn't end well! I'll get there..

@Sturmundcalm - I'm nowhere near a push up either but sure all the arm exercises have to be sending us the right direction...

clearsommespace · 02/06/2019 08:29

Zaor I am impressed by your determination, L2 Shred with a hangover!!!

I can do proper push ups. However when I started work out DVDs I could only do two and a half. I was afraid to try more with arms shaking like jelly in case I crashed down onto our hard floors. (Tiled living room) DH suggested doing them over a pillow to break my fall. I never did crash down. I can now do as many as JM requires in Shred. I'm sure you'll get there!

Ripped L2 on Friday, rest Saturday and 6 pack L2 today. I has to take a couple of minute breaks to drink. It is so hot already. Gonna be a scorcher here today!

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 04/06/2019 15:36

well done Zaor - that is commitment!

level 2 day 10 done. really struggled this morning, particularly on the second go round... only 5 days to get through though!

clearsommespace · 04/06/2019 17:38

Nearly there!
L2 Shred yesterday and today I tried Yoga Inferno L1 which I have borrowed.
I quite liked it but there are a couple of cardio moves which I would prefer to do in trainers (jumping lunges and squat jacks), yet the mostly you need to have bare feet.
I don't think I'll be buying this DVD.

Sturmundcalm · 04/06/2019 21:03

interesting about the yoga one - does kind of reflect some of the reviews. have ordered No More Trouble Zones this evening for starting next week... not sure how well it will work for me as I don't really have time to do full workout but assumed there must be ways to do sections and then could do the full thing at weekends? not feeling brave enough to go back and start the Shred again right now Grin

clearsommespace · 05/06/2019 12:03

You inspired me to do some of No More Trouble Zones this morning. It's perfectly feasible to do the first 3 or 4 circuits then skip to the cool down or to skip from the warm up to the last few circuits.

It's tough but a much more relaxed pace than 6 week 6 pack and JM is calm rather than bossy mode.

There is very little cardio so you'd probably want to complement it with some hill walking.

I couldn't fit the whole thing in on a work day. It's a good one for a quiet Sunday. Thankfully I don't have many of those so rarely do the whole thing.Wink

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 06/06/2019 17:36

@clearsommespace - excellent! it's like having my own personal fitness advisor Wink

think I'm ok with it being lighter on cardio, am starting to get fed up with just how hot and sweaty I'm getting with 6W6P... although to be fair I think it's also partly that I'm nearly done and 15 days of the same workout is not my cup of tea, I preferred Ri30 where I was changing it up after 7/8 workouts.

Sturmundcalm · 12/06/2019 08:18

am finished - 2 days later than I should have been because of other stuff happening but I did do a big walk on Saturday night to try and make up for a gap!

didn't love it but it has made a difference - and to be fair would probably have made a much bigger difference if I hadn't totally lost it in terms of diet in the last few weeks Sad because of that can see the difference more in my thighs/back than my stomach...

will probably start NMTZ on Saturday and try to do full version both days at the weekend then see how it goes.

clearsommespace · 12/06/2019 21:25

Congratulations! It's a hard slog, isn't it?

I haven't done anything since last Friday. It's been extra busy on the work and socialising fronts.
I must do something tomorrow or else it will have been a whole week. Tsk tsk.

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 13/06/2019 21:23

twas indeed a hard slog towards the end but at least I've made it.

did 5-10 mins of NMTZ yesterday morning after I finished (kind of half-heartedly just to see what it was like). and realised this afternoon that the pains in my arms, stomach and legs weren't because the last day of 6W6P was suddenly super efficient but because NMTZ is going to kill me Grin

hope you managed to get something done today - didn't do anything today due to work. am going to do NMTZ in the morning cause I was going to do a big walk but just don't have time.

Zaor · 15/06/2019 21:26

Hi Ladies
I keep coming back here when I want to give up. I'm not working out as much as I should but I finished L2 today. Not looking forward to L3 but delighted as I never go this far before. Still not doing a push up but definitely getting better at them.
A friend told me she has a load of JM DVDs she never uses so I'll be going to review them towards the end of L3 (I'm getting cocky now!)
I'm almost back into my tight trousers so its making a difference already...

clearsommespace · 15/06/2019 21:53

That's great news Zaor.

NMTZ is particularly bad for aching muscles.

I did Ripped L1 on Thursday.
I have a challenging music event next weekend and really need to put in some extra practice so I will be scaling things back until next Sunday.
I'll be happy if I get 3 workouts done between now and then.

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 16/06/2019 11:00

well done @Zaor - I preferred level 3 to level 2 so I'm sure you will finish it. and helpful if you can review a friend's collection rather than having to buy!

day 3 of NMTZ for me this morning. am doing the warm up and the first 5 circuits - my upper body is not happy but then that's not really a surprise, even raising my arms in the warm up was a struggle today! still can't do a push up properly but can do plank rows no bother now so clearly is my upper body rather than my core that's the issue.

good luck with your event clear

clearsommespace · 16/06/2019 11:15

Thanks.
Maybe your arms would be a bit more cooperative if you alternated the first 5 circuits and the last 5 circuits.
Shred L3 this morning but with fast squats instead of rock star jumps as everyone else was asleep. Apparently I make the house shake when I do rock star jumps.Blush
