Very well done affectionincoldclimate You must feel amazing! What a great achievement. I have never seen my abs Sad I have good arms and legs but my midriff always has and always will, need work. On that basis,, I'll join you and clearsommespace in RI30 in September, if you'll have me?

L2 D2 done!

Waitingonasmiley42 · 22/07/2018 11:53

For those that have finished or almost finished, when do you think you start noticing a difference with your body or fitness?

Level 1 day 5 just completed! I’m guving myself until August 19th to complete it and that factors in a few ‘can’t be bothered’ days.

NefretForth · 22/07/2018 16:10

Congratulations to those who've finished! I'm still toiling in the trenches: I hoped to do L2D9 today, but did a night shift volunteering last night and feel incredibly indolent today, so I think it's not going to happen. I'm going to a yoga class later, though.

Difficult question on when you see results - I've done the Shred and other JM DVDs a few times before, and I definitely notice a difference in fitness but not really in appearance. I'm a difficult shape (hourglass, nothing ever fits) but a fairly constant size: I have lines down either side of my abdomen, so you can just about see where the muscles are, but they're not very defined. I noticed more of a difference when I did her Killer Abs DVD.

clearsommespace · 22/07/2018 18:11

waiting you'll have finished in time to join us on our September ripped challenge Wink
You should see a difference in your fitness before you finish level 1. The exercises get easier (or less challenging at least). And then you move up a level!!
Once you finish, if you try level 1 again you'll really feel a difference.

I’m considering dusting off my Ri30 DVD. I haven’t done it for a while. Can I join you in September?

affectionincoldclimate · 23/07/2018 00:05

Thank you All Shredders. Quite genuinely couldn't have done it without you.

Champagne for @clearsommespace! Wooo hoo! It's blood sweat and tears at times, isn't it? Especially Level 2 and the sodding arm raises.

affectionincoldclimate · 23/07/2018 00:10

@Waitingonasmiley42 when I first ever started it a year ago, I noticed a difference after about a week in. I had quite a bit to lose so it was important I took pictures of "before" - set of three of front, side and back and detailed measurements. It really worked for me as I don't own scales (on purpose as if probably step on them 5 x a day if I did!). I measured and took pictures after finish of every level (or close to) and you could really see the difference side by side. What I'm trying to say in a long winded way is: take pictures and measure yourself. Grin

I can share my pics if you want so you can see an example of progress. Did so on the last thread but it's sadly gone. Sad

clearsommespace · 23/07/2018 09:11

oubliettebravo looking forward to sharing the pain with you!

L1 today, attempted with 3kg weights. I had to take a break during the minute long strength sessions.

Waitingonasmiley42 · 23/07/2018 10:48

clearsomemespace Let’s see if I get past level 1 first Grin.

affectionincoldclimate would definitely like to see before and after if you don’t mind. I did Google it but not sure how much I trust them

affectionincoldclimate · 23/07/2018 14:05

@Waitingonasmiley42 that's last year when I first shredded. I was 7 weeks post partum on the first one and about 70kg. Last one is end of Shred and weight was about 65kgs so I lost 5kgs in a month but I wasn't counting kgs so much as looking at measurements as it felt more meaningful. Also, although I used MyFitnessPal pal calorie tracking I wasn't going mad with it as I was still BFing.

I'll pop in the progress over the year in the next post as it won't let me upload more than 3 pics at a time.

Second batch. Progress over the year. I managed to do a full RI30 in between. From autumn 2017 onwards it was Shred or RI30 or any HIIT 3-4 times a week on average. More if I could, less if I was tired/ill as DD was snot central all winter. Also one month with my mother slowed me right down in the summer as I was indulging and Shredding just kept me on even keel so no loss but no gain. Otherwise, MyFitnessPal was my faithful buddy and I had an 80/20 rule of eating well 80% of the time but allowing treats and not being too stressed about it for 20%.
Apologies for quality of the last pic as it's not in the same place/light (and the appalling state of spare room behind me BlushGrin) This was 3 or so weeks into current Shred.

I must say that this is the first time in my entire 41 years on this earth that I have abs. Jillian is a miracle maker. Also, I find it extremely helpful to deal with stress and anxiety so I love it as part of my routine.

CaliforniaLoove · 23/07/2018 14:57

I'm on L1D6, have had a few gaps between days, tough day today!

Glad to see a thread - would be amazing to see any success stories/photos from anyone!

Waitingonasmiley42 · 23/07/2018 15:44

Shock affectionincoldclimate That is amazing! You look absolutely incredible. You are definitely inspiration to keep going.

My baby is now 6 months so have no excuses, but keep using breastfeeding as an excuse not to diet. Going to continue to run as much as I can just to maintain progress there.

calafornialoove I just did level 1 day 6 today too!

affectionincoldclimate · 23/07/2018 17:27

@Waitingonasmiley42 thank you! Glad my pics are a bit of an inspiration. Smile there were times when I was ready to ditch it all but the pics kept me going too 😁

At 6 months I was still BFing too. I stopped at 8 and it was an acceleration point with weight loss and toning. I think BFing actually affects the ability fat burn as your body tries to hold on to the deposits.

I would still recommend MFP. It made me aware and present to how and what I was eating even if I was over target calories. I still do it actually. I don't diet per se though as in, I don't restrict or follow a plan although Jillian has one with 30DS but never had the guts to do it Grin

Keep checking in here! I am resting today but no doubt will be back on it this week!

affectionincoldclimate · 23/07/2018 17:29

@clearsommespace I did ponder upgrading to 3kgs but don't have the spirit in me Grin. I rest with the 2kgs at times!

norbert23 · 23/07/2018 21:02

This thread is so good for inspiration and keeping me going! Just done day 5 even though I just wanted a long shower - instead I just imagine what it'd look like if I actually had abs Grin
Casually watching level 2 out of interest and cannot imagine being ready for it!!!

Knackerelli · 23/07/2018 21:33

Wow affection you must be so proud of your hard work!

I’ve shredded sporadically over the years but never done the full 30 days so I thought I’d shred over the summer alternating with my running days. So today I thought I’d do level three....the sweat was dripping off me! Couldn’t shadow punch with weights either. Fingers crossed it gets better!

Well done to all, remember don’t phone it in 😆😆

affectionincoldclimate · 23/07/2018 23:21

@norbert23 Don't think about it. When level 1 is done - go onto level 2. The worst is that you may stop and revert to level 1 which is still great. The most likely is that you'll do it and be fine. Someone once said that our bodies are capable of much more than our mind tells us they are I certainly found that! I always fear level 2 and then before I know it, 10 days is up and I have new muscles on my arms (all those raises!)

@Knackerelli this made me laugh out loud. I love Jillian's banter.

I did Level 1 today just to do something on this hot day and I had to giggle when on the bicycle crunches she says "This knot in your stomach, that's your body getting stronger, that's fear leaving your body!" Grin Forgot that line!

Goodnight Shredders 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

clearsommespace · 24/07/2018 06:54

That's very impressive affectioninacoldclimate
I'm the side of 45 where I don't expect to get slimmer but hopefully exercising will help me not have to buy a new wardrobe.
I think I said on the zapped thread that last summer I realised I couldn't comfortably fit into my fitted summer dress so I realised it was time to start Shredding etc again. It fits so now my aim is to keep it that way. Also as muscles decline with age, I figure that if they are in good condition to start with, they will serve me well for longer.

L2 today. It didn't seem so bad, possibly because I know I'm not doing it tomorrow.Grin

babyinthacorner · 24/07/2018 09:41

L3D1 done! Been hanging around on L2 for ages as I do it intermittently and yesterday was the first day that I did it and felt like it was too easy, so L3 it is. Oh the squats Shock

BendydickCuminsnatch · 24/07/2018 12:01

Hi, I'm new here!

I did 30DS in the run up to my wedding 6 years ago and it really did the trick. Since then I basically have 'I should do the 30DS' running through the back of my head. But it's hard to do it every day, e.g. Saturday just gone was my day 1, Sunday I was knackered after a hectic weekend (an excuse, I know), Monday I should have done it in the morning but had to go out, then had spinning in the evening. Should do it tonight but I've just swum 30 lengths and it's soooooo hot I'm already knackered!

Is there any point doing it sporadically like that or is there no benefit at all? Going to florida in 2 months and I'm going to be so fat and hot :(

babyinthacorner · 24/07/2018 14:08

Bendy I'm doing it sporadically and still seeing results! On a good week I do it 4 days in a row, then a yoga class on one of the other days. Lately it's been like 2/3 days in a row plus yoga, but I feel it's still of benefit.

ocelot41 · 24/07/2018 19:16

Measly Day 1 er here - I am sick of disliking my body!

HappyEverIftar · 24/07/2018 19:30

Good job ocelot! The first step is the hardest, but it's done now - onwards and upwards! How did you find it?
