oubliette I just read some reviews if one week shred. It sounds tough! Have you ever done both the strength and cardio in one day?
I'm not sure I like the idea of morning and evening exercise. It'd be hard to fit in and an extra shower would be required. Do you think it's worth getting for a change and doing the routines on alternate days.
L1 Shred done today.

I’ve never done both the strength & cardio circuits from one week shred on the same day. I’m not sure I’ve ever attempted the strength circuit (I only have the DVD because it is part of a JM box set). Mostly I do NMTZ (when I want a strength circuit) or BFBM (if I fancy cardio).

Hello Shredders
Reporting for duty with no workout. Just wanted to feel the Shred love Smile
Two days of no Shred and 4 hours sleep due to DD's teething and I'm feeling so so flat! I'll be back with you tomorrow. I needed to pop in and declare it so I have to do it then. Which is why I love this thread.
Thank you all!

Hello all. I'm also reporting in with no workout, but for happier reasons than affectioninacoldclimate: I've been away, and I bought some classes at the local fitness studio and they gave me two weeks' unlimited classes free! So I'm trying out random things this week, and discovering that thanks to Jillian I'm fitter than I thought.

Grin at meowdi!

I should get one Shred done at the weekend: I must get it done so I can join in RI30 in September (waves to Oubliette - we were on a Shred thread together a while ago when I was using another name).

clearsommespace, I did the One Week Shred once and you're right, its a pain fitting in two workouts. (Effective though.) You might just be able to do them back to back with a quick flop and glass of water in between.

I forgot to record yesterday: 30DS L1D2 & the cardio circuit from one week shred. I think it might be too hot for the latter today. I might switch workout for a change (yes - I’ve done the same one for 2 days, and I’m already bored)!

Love Meowdi Grin

Checking in to say L2 D9 done! In my enthusiasm to do squat thrusts, I've broken my mat! Shock heading out to the shops this weekend to get another one.

Good job nefretforth it just shows you're fitter than you think you are!

I've got 14 days until my holiday.. if I'm clever I can cane level 3 over the coming days, but going to have a day off tomorrow.

Also checking in but no shred yesterday, my inner ankles are KILLING me so I had a rest day. Been for a huge walk today though so not entirely exercise free, I'm thinking of getting another dvd off amazon that's less cardio for days like yesterday. Any suggestions? Glad meowdi was Grin it's my annual brief witty moment!

I did the 30 day shred before I went on holiday; did everyday and felt really toned and could def see a difference in arms, legs and tummy.
After a week of lying on a beach and eating and drinking I need to get back on it ... so what dyou recommend? 30 day shred again? Ri30? Does anyone do the shred all year?!

OublietteBravo · 02/08/2018 22:18

I did 6W6P (both levels) instead of Shred today. I'm feeling rather tired now.

I also had a rest day (yesterday). Needed to catch up on sleep and 'lie in' until 7.15.
About to do Killer Buns and Thighs.
I am impressed with some of the activity on here. Back-to-back JM workouts Shock

Norbert have you got the right trainers? The impact on the foot is different from running so ideally you should have workout trainers and running trainers (if you run).

Goldface Hello. I did do JM workouts at least 4 times a week for a couple of years in my early 40s and stayed slim and toned despite putting away a lot of wine and chocolate on top of a normal healthy diet!
Then I got out of the habit and did it less often and all my clothes got tight.

Now I am at the other end of the 40s, I find I have to cut back on treats AND workout to avoid investing in a new wardrobe. Persanally I would hate to spend hard-earned cash on a load of basics when it can be avoided "with a little work, maybe a lot of work" Wink
I also feel better when I exercise. I have more energy for life (except in the half hour immediately after workout).

Well, pride goeth before a fall and all that - last night's class was a thing called Warrior Sculpt (basically fast-moving yoga poses with added weights) and I was just too uncoordinated to do it competently. It didn't help that it was one of those classes where everyone else clearly goes every week and knows the routine (and was half my age). I must have looked like something out of a French and Saunders sketch.

goldface, I did JM DVDs most weekday mornings for three years - then I changed jobs and fell completely off the wagon as I was getting home from work later and needed to prioritise sleep. If I could change one thing about myself, I'd need an hour less sleep a night. I'm trying to get back on it properly this year: I'm mid-forties and the weight is starting to creep on.

Hi All

Happy to report L1 done yesterday as promised. Will do one tonight too

In answer to someone's question. I do Shred or RI30 all year round 3-4 times a week.

@ocelot41 BRAVO! That's amazing! Imagine the end result after such achievement already. To quote our Great Leader: You're well on your way to being shredded!

Righto. L2 done I have a new system. As I got Shred in Amazon video, it plays sequentially rather than by chapter like on DVD so I just do it Level after level and I start where the video last stopped. This stops me from just doing my preferred levels ie 1 & 3 Grin

It's been a long week and I appreciated that sweat tonight!

Goodnight Shredders!

ocelot41 there’s a few moves that are quite hard and not pleasant, but I found it passes so quickly because it’s new.

Going to write here I’m doing day 6 of level 2 tonight and then I’ll have to do it. Smile

I had to scroll back an embarrassingly long way through the thread to check what day I'd got to! L2D9 done tonight. Aiming to do D10 tomorrow and then cane through L3 before the end of August (easier said than done since I'm on holiday for two weeks, but I'm thinking I might take it with me), ready to join in RI30 in September. And I have done a HIIT class, the weird warrior sculpt one and two Pilates classes this week, and have yoga booked for tomorrow. On the negative side poor DD has an enormous blister on the sole of her foot, so we haven't done any running this week.

ocelot41, L2 is really not that bad: it doesn't ask you to do a sequence of full push-ups, unlike L1, and the cardio is a bit more fun than everlasting jumping jacks. On the other hand it has squat thrusts, which are the devil's work, and chair squats with V-raises, which are rubbish if you're like me and have no deltoids to speak of. (If you can do the anterior raises in L1 without too much suffering, you'll probably be fine with the V-raises in L2.)

L3 done today!

@NefretForth good to see you back on the Shred wagon. You do so much outside of it, it's admirable you're shredding it too.

@Waitingonasmiley42 I giggled. If I know that I'm about to give myself an excuse I write it here and then I just have to do it. That's when peer pressure works wonders for ones motivation, right? Grin

L2D10 done! On to L3 tomorrow. It's taken an embarrassingly long time to get through L2, but I will get through L3 by the end of the summer holiday.

Most of the rest of my activity will stop or slow down once term starts again - I'm relatively quiet at work in August so have time for exercise classes. And DD runs her mile at the end of September, so once that's done I imagine we'll stop running: I'll carry on if she wants to, but I don't detect great enthusiasm!

@waitingonasmiley42 and @affectioninacoldclimate, I use this for accountability too. Wouldn't have got D10 done if I hadn't said on here last night that I would.

Rest day here again. I really appreciated getting up after 7am and I got a nap in the car on the way back from our trip to the beach. I'm rotating through the levels and tomorrow is L2. Thought I'd better say it on here as it is my (everyone's) least favourite level.
