Thought I would start a new thread as we have literally run out of room on the last one Grin

Purple - maybe movement on scales is good if it is muscle gain - especially if you are surprised the scales have gone up, it must be possible it is muscle. I understand though, logically it's probably a good sign but we are so used to hoping for a loss!

I did back and arms 20 min pre lift yesterday, used 3.5s throughout and my arms are really sore today - it definitely made me even more impressed by you getting your 12s above your head. I have an 8kg kettlebell and that is a whopper - no way I could lift it higher than my shoulders. Did you lift both at the same time Shock seriously impressed Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 05/06/2019 23:12

Ps - thanks (I think) re triple bears Grin they are like burpees in T25, fingers crossed I get to grips with them eventually

Theromanempire · 06/06/2019 09:13

reastie any news from your midwife/consultant about a date for your section? Sooo close now Smile

Poppy welcome to Operation holiday skirt Grin I have 6 weeks to go... As for triple bears, I am convinced it is actually impossible to get your knees as low as Joel says Wink I thought I was doing quite well but, the other day, I asked DH if my back was flat and my bum down whilst doing them and he said that my bum was sticking up really high Blush Work in progress I guess! I also modify them all the time - just cannot jump more than about 10 seconds of them!

Purple don't stress about your weight - I have realised that weight is a very mysterious and unexplainable thing a lot of the time. Is your period due? I have also noticed that Liift does seem to stall weight loss initially but the last couple of weeks of the programme seems to shift it and more. Major kudos on the 12.5kg shoulder presses!

Purple the amount of weights you’re doing it’s got to be muscle. I know it seems depressing when you see gain but I bet you’re stronger and fitter.

I’m going to look up triple bears as all I know are bear crawls from insanity (or is it insanity max?) which I didn’t find that bad, but these must be mega hard.

Sorry for not updating, bit of a rubbish week. Had to go back to hospital yesterday (again) for bleeding (again) and generally felt pretty sicky this week. Provisional section date next Wednesday but subject to change. Feeling equally petrified of the op, desperate to get it over and not feel sick and scared of how things will go with a baby (having struggled through dds baby days). Pretty much given up on anything physical now I’m just so tired all the time. Definitely need a knee to help me up from the floor now! Weight up to 188lbs which although is a 48lb gain (should be max 35) is still less than my mental ideal target of 190 (but didn’t know if I’d manage it and so second target was 200). When I say ideal, obv 35 lbs would be ideal but given my situ I knew that was never going to happen. I’m estimating my initial post pregnancy bmi will be 28, whereas pre preg was 22/23. Initial 6 week post section target will just be not to gain (ideally) and build stamina and gentle walking etc.

Purpleraindeer · 07/06/2019 06:16

So close reastie! I don’t know whether this will help but when you look at mumsnet, the overwhelming majority of people have a really positive experience with an elective section. Mine was great and a lot easier than the long labour and emergency section I had first time round. The one thing that caught me out was walking into the operating theatre - be prepared as there are a lot of people in there (you don’t notice them after the first few minutes). I do remember sitting outside and the midwife reminding me to have a nappy and hat for the baby and it felt so surreal and calm.

You’re lucky to have your dh to check your form roman. I’m sure my bum is up high too but I’ve no idea. Smile

Rest day today. Yay. I need it. Full body HIIT last night had a lot of press ups and my back and shoulders are feeling it!

Purpleraindeer · 10/06/2019 20:18

So - I finished my second round of liift today. Phew!
Saw myself in the mirror and I think I am a bit flabbier than I was so perhaps might have been overeating a bit - the weight gain isn’t all muscle/water I don’t think. Sad
Am going to watch my diet this week and see if I can make some small tweaks to get it back on track. I can’t face a real ‘diet’ so let’s see how this goes first.
Will start 21dfx (the new version on bbod) tomorrow. I’ll let you know what I think of it. I’m keen for the change of pace to more cardio

PlinkPlink · 10/06/2019 21:07

Hey everyone!

Sorry I went AWOL for a bit. OH had his knee surgery last week so it's been a bit hectic running around after DS and trying to make sure OH doesnt get up/his dressing doesn't fall off nightmare /keeping house running etc.

How exciting Reastie did you go in today? I hope so!! Cant wait to hear news of baby Reastie!

How do you track your food intake normally Purple ?

Well done on maintaining during your holiday Yum ! That's brilliant! Where did you go by the way?

I'm on week 2 of my 2nd attempt of Liift. Food reasonable. I'm getting back into the swing of it. Trying out 16:8 too starting tonight. First nights always the hardest.

Also... leg day last week. Wtf? I couldn't walk. I was like Bambi on ice trying to get up and down the stairs! I obviously wasnt doing it right before because that seriously killed me!

yumyumpoppycat · 10/06/2019 23:12

Purple fingers crossed you wont have to do too much tweaking. I exactly know the feeling of not being able to face a diet!

Plink great to hear you are on track with diet and workouts! Hopefully it wont be a long recovery for your dh. I am laughing at the image of bambi going up stairs! Hmm I am more like dumbo than bambi I think - especially when my legs have doms!

Liift day 1 workout 1 today. I started the workout about 15 mins before picking up dd (got home from work a little earlier) then went off in workout clothes with a jacket then carried on workout. I do not recommend doing this! Lactic acid or something had kicked in when I restarted and it was waay harder.

Havent lost any more weight but had a couple of nights out so I am happy with maintaining. Fingers crossed for an actual loss this week.

Hope all well. Reastie hope everything is ok, bleeding must be a worry.

Theromanempire · 11/06/2019 12:55

reastie good luck for tomorrow (assuming you haven't had the baby already) Flowers hope it all goes well - like Purple said, my elective C-section was a far nicer experience than the emergency one (although that was a crash emergency as some are) - mainly because I was able to have a full night's rest beforehand rather than 24 hours of labour Hmm

Purple I'm sure you aren't flabbier than before - you would have to eat a lot more than normal to put on weight whilst doing Liift and running. Can't wait to hear what you think of the new 21df workouts Smile

plink hope your DH is improving, hate it when RL gets in the way of your exercise! I'm with you on leg day pain - we did W3 leg day on Saturday and we had the full on shaky legs and the DOMS yesterday were bad!!!

yum good luck with the weigh in and impressive that you stopped the workout and then came back to it - not sure I have the motivation to do that too keen to sit on my arse

Just started Liift week 4 here - did Chest and Triceps circuit yesterday and it was SOOOO hard! Could not put any pressure on my triceps for the rest of the evening and I also had to go and wave my glowsticks around for 45 minutes afterwards so was expecting DOMS this morning but they are fine Hmm

Operation skirt still failing miserably - the problem is my lower tummy which is still like a big pouch 10 years after my last DC was born so even though I can get the button done up, it clings very unflatteringly to my lower belly and I cannot see that disappearing in 5 weeks Sad

Reastie · 11/06/2019 14:04

Thanks for the thoughts and sorry for not updating. Tomorrow is the day, but still yet could be postponed so who knows. Comments very much appreciated, just not been on as struggling through and feeling miserable and sick and tired. Will let you know when I’m on the other side, whenever that’ll end out being!

yumyumpoppycat · 11/06/2019 16:25

Oh my goodness I didn't realise it was literally a matter of days - hopefully it will go ahead on schedule Reastie Flowers

Roman - weird how it is so unpredictable how long DOMS will last. If the summer skirt is for work would some kind of tightish long cami underneath help. I practically refuse to wear anything without a (slightly too small!) vest from primark underneath to smooth things out - oh my god I sound like my granny who always used to wear full on slips, house coats and a headscarf Grin

bicep and back ( I think) today - I like that workout as no pushups, lunges, squats or hiit Grin I probably went a bit light (2.5 and 4kg) but was still pretty tough. Will aim to add a bit of weight tomorrow.

Reastie · 11/06/2019 17:16

Thanks yumy. I’m finding I can still bend down to pick things up and use my leg muscles a la squats to stand up again relatively easily, so hopefully my legs still have a bit of strength! Definitely never managed that last time. It’s a shame every time I stand up I see stars from low blood pressure Confused

yumyumpoppycat · 11/06/2019 17:54

That's great Reastie that you can see your fitness is improved.

I tend towards low blood pressure too so had a couple of dizzy fainting things when pg - mainly when standing in queues Confused I think it can mask things as it might appear normal when it has gone up so might be worth mentioning to midwife if you haven't?

yumyumpoppycat · 11/06/2019 17:59

..although you don't have to generally have worry about low blood pressure apparently. I used to mention everything to HCP when pg. I was probably very annoying and had a gp appointment because I got a teeny shock from my hairdryer Blush

Reastie · 11/06/2019 18:15

Yumy they aren’t bothered one bit by my bp, even when it’s a pretty low result they just say it’s fine and only need to worry if it’s high 🙄.

Purpleraindeer · 11/06/2019 21:12

I really hope it goes well reastie. And just think - not only will you have a lovely baby, the sickness should clear too!

Well done on the workouts poppy and roman. I always liked the circuits ones with no HIIT. On the skirt roman - you never know. Sometimes a very small loss particularly on your hips makes things look a lot better and hang better so don’t give up on it.

You’re right whoever said it - I’m not really flabby - I can just see a bit more than I’m used to. I’m short too so it is more noticeable. No snacking and all healthy food today too. Star So started 21dfx. She said it would be easier than the old 21dfx for week 1. When I did the same workout before (plyo) I found it a bit easy and this time I was pretty tired by the end so I think my cardio fitness might need a bit of work and it sounds like this is just the thing. Yay.

PlinkPlink · 12/06/2019 10:54

Wishing you all the best today Reastie! We'll all be thinking of you and baby!

I remember trying 21 day fix when I first signed up for BOD. It was a few months after DS arrived and I wasn't quite in the right headspace so didn't enjoy it. But I'm thinking of giving it a go after Liift4? See if it's any good and if I get on with it?
Totally in love with the portion pots though. I use them everyday.

Back and Bis today - had to rearrange it to today as I had family coming up and it would have been my DGrandad's bday so i was a bit teary. Been 3 years and I still find certain days a bit sad.

It's Liift 50/50 which is not my favourite. I used to like the circuit ones but find them proper exhausting Grin so my favourite one is actually Liift Intervals. Love that type of workout - feels like hard work but I'm not killing myself with HIIT at the end Grin

Reastie · 12/06/2019 17:58

Just dashing on to update as bit hectic here. Section was first thing. Not quite to full plan as had trainee anaesthetist and spinal didnt take properly meaning they nearly gave me a general in the middle of the op as I felt too much Shock but ok in the end, just a bit of an unpleasant experience. Baby boy 6lbs 10 doing really well. I’m in quite a bit of pain on and off but just wanting to get home as soon as they will let me

Theromanempire · 12/06/2019 19:40

Yay, massive congratulations SmileFlowersFlowers, shame it didn't quite go to plan (I know trainees have to practice but pretty shitty when it's on you!) but you are out the other side!

Enjoy your new baby, rest, rest and rest and we'll still be here when you are ready (Well not here as we need a new thread GrinGrin)
