I don't suppose someone would pm me the link to the secret site please? I'm getting back into fitness after some bad health problems and I'm starting to get somewhere (I used to be very fit its frustrating how quickly it goes) and I really fancy giving Country heat a go as I used to do a lot of dancing. I need something fast but not too hard to get back in the habit of fitness videos, but I am skint would love to try it out before I risk paying for it
Thanks in advance!!

Purpleraindeer · 12/05/2017 06:29

Hi all
Have done triometrics and then total synergistics and now finished week 1 of the last mth of p90x3. Am feeling tired and I think it's a lower cal intake. Really struggled yesterday. Am hoping it normalises!

How are you getting on with your eating roman?

Reastie · 12/05/2017 15:13

Well, good news from the physio, my knee seems to touchwood be almost there :) still a long way to go with upper injuries though.

I can now start slowly increasing my runs in length but slower in pace initially. I've also got a couple of hiit moves I can do e.g. Squat jumps. Nothing planky but I'm wondering about doing p90x3 agility on Monday. I seem to remember the moves ther might be ok ish. If there are plank bits I'll just modify. I can't remember the last time I've done a DVD so I'm quite excited! I'll be pleased to see tony again and may even laugh at the lame jokes I'll be in such a good mood ;)

Purple are you feeling any stronger today? Huge yay to back and the pull up press ups.

yumyumpoppycat · 13/05/2017 18:43

Well done on your double too Purple. I was absolutely shattered the day I did a double, practically fell asleep on the sofa at 5pm!

Reastie that is great news, how was agility Grin

Lovely to see a message from you roman. Sounds like things are busy for you. Very intrigued by new workouts coming out - exciting!

I am not feeling it today. D and I had a fun night out yest, food and a gig but today I am struggling even more with diet and feel low on energy, think totm must be coming. workout was rubbish today as. I hate lower body p90x3. Can you tell I am in a bad mood! Might switch to another workout - this is prob why I am not improving,, though as don't follow programs properly. Maybe a fresh start with body beast?

EleanorAbernathy · 13/05/2017 19:56

Great news on the knee Reastie! And welcome back Roman!

I've been back on the Trinity wagon this week, my head is OK unless I touch my ear where I cut it now.

Unfortunately I have not stopped being the clumsiest person in the world, and my dramatic workout related injuries just keep coming - DH missed a great You've Been Framed opportunity today!

My goal for this cycle of Trinity has been to be able to do more than one unassisted chin-up - I could only do about half way last week when I tried. Today I gave it a go and actually did one - so got DH to film me seeing how many, so I could prove it. I did 4!

Then after getting the video evidence I was feeling all Sarah Connor and decided to go for another set. Did 5 - and in my excitement after I landed I pulled the bar off the door frame and the top of it swung round and whacked me on both my elbows at once! It bloody hurt. And it happened when I wasn't being filmed so I can't even get £200 as consolation.

Curry, gin and Eurovision tonight Grin Gin All in my macros too!

yumyumpoppycat · 13/05/2017 20:14

Wow that is some very good macro management Eleanor!
We are eurovisioning too as we speak Grin
.
Ouch re pull up bar poor you Flowers at least 4 unassisted pull-ups is better consolation than nothing though Star

Purpleraindeer · 14/05/2017 16:08

Hope your mood is better today poppy. I know exactly how you feel - sometimes it feels like progress comes very slowly. Why don't you stick with p90x3 for one more week and if at the end of that you still feel the same, then move on.

Eleanor - you did 9 unassisted chin ups? ShockStar. It's amazing how fragile pull up bars are - I fell off mine in sort of the same way - they're really strong if you pull down but if you pull at an angle they pop right off. It freaked me out a lot when that happened.

Did my weekly weigh in yesterday and have lost a tiny bit of weight. Unfortunately I may have offset all my good work by going out for lunch and polishing off everything on the kids plates. Blush. I was stuffed. Did MMX afterwards so was surprised I wasn't sick actually.

Hope you've all got sunshine like we have today. It's lovely

Reastie · 15/05/2017 12:23

Hello all,

Purple glad you enjoyed the sunshine day and you had a nice lunch out.

Eleanor Shock at the pull up bar fall. I'm always scared when I've used mine for that to happen.

Yumy are you feeling it yet?

Well, didn't do agility x in the end. I looked up the moves and there were acutuslly quite a few I just can't do at all with injuries so did turbofire 20 minute hiit instead. Very cheesy and had to modify some moves so didn't work as hard as I wanted, and tbh worked my leg harder than I should have but nice to do a DVD again. Did a cycle yesterday and 5.5km run on Saturday (1.5km longer than my injury route so starting the build up). Back to physio on Friday as part of my shoulder where none injury is is actually completely numb and physio can't get me to do any exercises where I actually feel it in the right place Shock.

I'm having doubt that I eat too much fruit in my diet so wondered what you all thought. I have been feeling smug that I usually get 7 portions of fruit and veg a day but thinking about it 4 of those are fruit so maybe I am having too much sugar despite not actually eating foods with sugar in... I always bring to mind some kind of bbc documentary a few years ago where a man ate too much fruit and the fructose meant he had a huge liver (I think it was liver, it was some organ that was super sized which apparently isn't a good thing).

So, on an average day fruit and veg wise I have:
A banana for mid morning snack with a naked bar (dried fruit and nut bar but doesn't have any rice syrup or other things that don't sound like sugar but actually is)
At lunch I usually have a lot of salad bits that equate to at least two handfuls/portions
Mid afternoon I'll often have an apple or pear
Dinner I have soup of some kind of vegetable
After dinner I have an apple or pear (whatever I didn't have earlier) and later on I'll have berries with plain yoghurt. One handful/portion
I probably have up to a tablespoon (probably less) of sultanas over the day in muesli

Does this sound like too much fruit? Maybe I should cut out the afternoon apple/pear and have carrot sticks instead...

OP posts:
Reastie · 15/05/2017 18:39

I might have bonus vegetables like mushrooms and sweet corn in an egg white omelette but above is the average and I rarely eat less fruit and veg than this, but may eat more veg.

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 15/05/2017 20:56

Hi reastie.
I forgot to post before that agility x might not work for you but you figured that out anyway. What about speed 2.0?

On the fruit - am sure it's only a problem if you're either cal counting and you want to cut down intake overall. I thought the point was that if you have juice you end up having too much fructose, but if you eat whole fruit you feel full long before you eat too much. I don't really eat fruit at all - some berries sometimes and sometimes an apple. Am not sure that's particularly good either. I do eat lots of veg though.

Normally Monday is a day off for me but ended up doing eccentric upper as am out tomorrow night. Tired arms now!

yumyumpoppycat · 15/05/2017 21:09

Reastie I am not really feeling it still...limped through total synergistics! Still good to have got it done though.

Good plan Purple I will give p90x3 another week and see how I feel rather than knee jerk switching.

I am not sure about fruit, most of the fruit you described is 'low sugar' anyway, but I have been reading an excellent book by James Wong called How to Eat Better and it seems fruit is thought to be good for health. Beetroot, pineapple and cherries are all supposed to help with athletic performance. Apples and berries are incredibly good for you apparently in terms of illness prevention etc, so unless you suspect its causing you a problem then go for it!

yumyumpoppycat · 16/05/2017 10:06

CVX this morning, little dd joined in and we were both using my lightest weights so it was quite fun and Jane fondaey, just needed some leg warmers. Turns out it is easier just to let her join in... maybe not for the warrior or MMx though as all the sprawls are bound to lead to injury! Feeling in a better mood today - it's sunnier, I am working from home, meeting a friend for coffee at lunch time hooray! hope everyone has a lovely day.

Reastie · 16/05/2017 19:34

Yumy glad you're having a better day today, the weather here today was glorious and it makes everything seem a little better.

Thank you for the fruit pointers. I just keep imagining this giant enlarged organ from a man eating too much fruit. Hopefully I'm not eating so much that that will happen. It freaked me out as I read something this week saying I should be eating more vegetables than fruit when I'm the other way around, dd barely even eats any vegetables .

Was going to do insanity abs but then remembered there were plank moves I can't do so did p90x3 lower. It was naughty as it was a bit too much for my legs really after hit yesterday but I was desperate to do an actual workout. I modified a bit but my knee that I thought was better was really playing up. I'm a glutton for punishment! I wasn't even using weights :(

Tomorrow will either be a swim or a day off on the basis I will do a run on Thursday and need the rest beforehand. I know I should rest really but I've put on a pound this month and I'm nervous it's the start of weight gain.

Purple speed 2 isn't great for me as it's quite twisty which isn't good for knees.

Purpleraindeer · 17/05/2017 12:11

Poppy how fun to have your dd join in. I love the idea of setting a good example re fitness. Am Shock at your description of cvx as fun though. I find that one just a slog!

Reastie - I have the same concern re my carrot habit. I eat soooooo many. Actually if you're worried about fruit could you substitute a carrot for an apple?

Have already done my workout today (triometrics) so will have a lovely free evening now. Timing hasn't totally worked tho as am absolutely staaaaarving as worked out mid morning and its feeling like a long time until lunch.

Purpleraindeer · 17/05/2017 12:12

Would lower focus from t25 be ok for you reastie? The p90x3 lower one is hard - hope the knee recovers ok

Theromanempire · 17/05/2017 13:12

Reastie I can't help with the workouts as I only know about the T25 or 21df/21dfx ones as those are the only ones I do! Although if you want a leg workout, 21df Barre Legs is good - it doesn't involve weights and is mainly squats/lunges/leg lifts of different types and the pattern is 20 full moves, 20 small pulses then a 30-second hold - you repeat this for each different move. It is quite basic but effective.

PurpleI am with you on the starving front - I did Pilates Fix at 5.15 this morning then had a Tracker bar at 10.00, went into a meeting, came out at 11.30 and thought I would have lunch then got ambushed by 2 other people who talked to me for an hour...I could literally have eaten my hand by that point Grin

The new Shaun T workout - it is a Shaun T week (12th June I think) and he is releasing a new workout each day for 7 days. No clues yet on what type/length of each one but it covers cardio, abs, strength. Hopefully they will land on the secret site shortly after [happy]

Did I mention that I have started doing some Core de Force workouts? They are fab - has anyone else done them? I am just sticking to the Shred and Speed ones at the moment (depending on how much time I have) maybe once or twice a week when I want a cardio workout. I love the format and it is very similar to bodycombat classes which I miss so much! So I now have a weird hybrid of T25, 21df, 21dfx and Core de force Grin Keeps it interesting though!

yumyumpoppycat · 17/05/2017 17:36

Purple I think that might be because there are no sprawls or burpees, pullups, pulsing or pushups in CVX Blush I did pilates today, I find it a bit annoying because I am less flexible than the men on the cast and Tony keeps saying 'the laydees' will be fine with this but us guys will be rubbish. Where do I fit in with that!!

brilliant re corp de force roman - I am keeping my eye out for that one.

Reastie was the liver man in that program you saw eating loads of other crap, it might not have been the fruit. Tbh I prob eat more veg than fruit but make myself do that as I am a veggie skipper by nature.

Reastie · 17/05/2017 20:44

Gosh yumy I hated CVX so mucho respect for picking that as a preferential workout! I'm terrible with bendyness on Pilates/yoga type stuff so I never do anything even vaguely close to the hard cores. I'm still in awe of that ted move (I can't remember the name of it but it's named after him and he has such crazy strength).

Re the liver thing I remember really clearly it was fruit that caused it as they made a big thing of who knew too much fruit was bad for you. It was the documentary I think with Michael Mosley where he first introduced the concept of the fasting diet before it was a thing. He looked at other diets too.

Thermo barre legs sounds good, I might try that next week, thanks for the tip. Physio has said lunges and squats are fine. Glad you're enjoying core de force, sounds like the kind of thing I'd like to try. I quite like Jericho and I forget the guys name from the pump dvds they are on. Very interested about the new Shaun t thing.

Purple I love that you have a carrot habit!!! Might have to join you on that one although I do always eat carrots in my meals, and a fair amount. Dh has started taking a whole carrot to work every day as part of his lunch and eats it whole (as in not cut up in nice pieces like I do, not as in eats it in one go!)

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 17/05/2017 21:30

reastie it is Joel and Jericho Smile they are really great coaches - explain the moves well and keep you motivated...their fave phrase is 'you gotta earn your break'

Done some more investigation into Shaun T - it is called Insane Focus so a mix of Insanity inspired workouts and T25 inspired workouts. Sounds great Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 17/05/2017 23:46

Wow a half way house between t25 and insanity sounds perfect roman.

Reastie chopped up peppers are lovely too. I have been googling but can't find anything about too much fruit causing fatty liver. Diet stuff is a minefield Confused

Speaking of diets mine has been atrocious today so I am back in the I am sick of diets phase again.

Purpleraindeer · 18/05/2017 08:56

Urgh me too re diets. Have been eating really well and largely within my cal limit on mfp. Did a mid week weigh in and have lost a paltry 100g Sad. It is so frustrating - I'm too impatient. AND I have to do p90x3 eccentric lower later which I don't like and find hard.....

I can pretty much guarantee that I'll be buying insanity focus. I love a new workout!

Reastie · 18/05/2017 17:54

Found something about fructose and liver here which is interesting and making me not worry too much as it talks more of added sugars.

Did a run today and then promptly got a migraine upon return so been in bed feeling sorry for myself :( couldn't face lunch but just eaten the whole kitchen for dinner to make up for it so diet not good here either today.

New Shaun t saounds great, looking forward to being back in form to do that.

Yumy yes I like peppers too, which is annoying as dh and dd both don't all the more for me when I do it.

I've decided the sweetcorn I have as part of my salad at the work canteen must be salt and sugar added tinned stuff as it's so sweet and salty compared to the natural stuff I have at home. Im trying to decide if I'd be better of not having it at all given my strict no added sugar, or the benefit of adding another vegetable every day outweights this and the fact it's probably not a lot of sugar...

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 18/05/2017 21:03

Purple - that is really annoying, at least it is down though. Would it be worth redoing your army bodyfat calculator you might see progress from when you last do it.

Interesting Reastie that fatty liver disease wasn't seen before 1908s - isn't that when HFCS started being used. Reassuring re fruit.

yumyumpoppycat · 18/05/2017 21:08

PS Purple I am glad its not just me who isn't keen on eccentric lower - I should prob do that one tomorrow [cross]
