I hope you find me

Purple I do exactly that too!! That was in the book I read too, it said we remember negative things about ourself tenfold more than anything positive and this gives us a negative bias of ourselves. I'm trying to remember the advice to help with that but I can't Blush. I think maybe standing back mentally and realising what you're doing can help give perspective. I can't believe you didn't max out with cardio challenge, that's amazing, you're so hardcore! I know what you mean about your ds' bday, I remember feeling similar about my dd. Have low expectations for Christmas and then you'll be pleasantly surprised (having low expectations is actually something they spoke of in the book too!).

Did a run yesterday but was a disaster, only 4.5k. My elbow was really playing up and every time I moved it when running I got a sharp pain in there so thought I'd better cut it short. Then I got really bad stitch and it all went a bit pear shaped. Better than nothing though. Today was a rest day as went to Kew Gardens with dd and dh. I did a teeny bit of running as dd wanted us to play chase games and I've done nearly 13000 steps so wasn't sedentary but no actual workout.

Got BA booked tomorrow but it's late morning which is an annoying time as it takes 20 mins each way to the gym. I might cancel it and do BA DVD at home to save me the journey time even though it isn't nearly so fun as I have so much to get done.

Oh, and I won't go into details but the worms I had over a month ago still haven't gone Shock Blush . Although I'm hoping this accounts for why I've been so ravenous recently and gives a reason behind he weight gain due to extreme hunger. I'm on a last ditch attempt to get rid of them before I have to go to the go although apparently there's no other drugs they offer than what I've tried Shock so it'll be a few weeks of crazy cleaning for me

Morning Smile

Purple well done on not maxing out Smile I always find that doing a different workout and not finding it as hard as expected is such a great feeling!

reastie sorry about all the crap you are dealing with including the worms. You'll get through it and come out the other side and at least you are still trying to exercise whereas I think I would just default to being a lazy greedy arse which is what I do when faced with adversity Blush

Workouts were ok last week - tailed off towards the end for various reasons (not actually motivation-related thankfully but just life getting in the way!) My FB feed was full of shots of some charity workout that the BB coaches were doing yesterday so lots of clips of Autumn, Tania and Joel (from CDF) together which was strange to see Grin

In other news, just did a try on of my winter skirts as I have got loads of time on my hands today and they were ok Smile The main one I want to wear is still tight but I could probably just about get away with it with a baggy jumper to hide the fact the zip won't do up and the clinginess to my tummy Grin However, other ones look ok and wearable. No idea how as I am not particularly watching what I eat or exercising every day but I'll take it - just need to move on from here now.

Reastie I am also a lurker/occasional poster in your Christmas threads. There are some amazing finds in there and I have saved loads of money using the information on there.

Purpleraindeer · 31/10/2017 06:30

Well done on the skirts roman. I have the opposite. Did post hol weigh in and am heavier now than in the past 18mths!!! Shock am taking action! Actually I had a rest day yesterday but have cut out the crap and will be max 30-ing later.

Sorry to hear re the worms reastie. How was BA?

Reastie · 31/10/2017 15:55

Thermo that's great news with the skirts, and it's not even winter yet!

Purple are you more muscly though? You can become fitter but gain weight.

BA I did the video on the secret site in the end. It was good but not the same as a class but I just had so mUch to do. On wait list for tomorrow's class but doubt I'll get a space so planning on going for a swim instead. Not a high cardio hardcore workout as I'm such a slow swimmer but figure it's good on my joints and it's good to mix things up a little bit to keep different fitnesses up.

I love swimming reastie. I’m a terrible swimmer but it’s always a good work out as I’m so inefficient. Hope you enjoyed it

Sweat intervals for me today. God that is a hard workout. Shaun t kept saying ‘if you need a break take it then jump back in’ and I was only too keen to oblige. I’m half dead now. It’s nice to be this knackered after a workout. I’ve been doing lots of weights stuff which is tiring but in a less satisfying way.

disappointed101 · 02/11/2017 21:04

Hi everyone! I haven't posted in so long! I went to the workout with Shaun T in July and it was amazing!! so awesome! I also went to the launch a few weekends back. It also left a sour taste in my mouth. I have been hassled by a max 30 member to join his team for coaching via facebook. Mlm is just not for me. Now lots of people are doing the coaching and they are all over facebook so fake :( makes me so so sad. Shakeology is £129 plus pp if you aren't a coach. I tasted the flavours at the launch and they are yummy but I can't justify that price. I am doing a second round of hammer and chisel till xmas then after xmas will start 80 day obsession. Think my BOD is till June. I might not renew and go over to the darkside eg les mills on demand. I might take a break from Beachbody. I find it a shame that one of the rules of the official challenge groups that the coaches run is to drink shakeology. It makes me sad. BB was so fun before coaching came here :(

Purpleraindeer · 04/11/2017 16:01

Hi disappointed. Good to see you back! Do keep posting. The £129 for shakeology - how many weeks supply is that? Seems super expensive vs normal protein shakes etc. After reading your post I immediately looked up the 80 day obsession. That looks great. I don’t really want bb on demand though so I guess I’ll wait for the DVDs.

Did Friday fight this am. Was killer. I was properly struggling. Am back to normal weight after a few days of careful eating which is good. I guess it was water weight or something. Have a good weekend all. Enjoy the fireworks if you’re going to them

Theromanempire · 04/11/2017 19:08

Hi everyone (welcome back disappointed) We discussed the MLM that is Beachbody coaching earlier in the thread and I think we are all disappointed that they operate in that way. If you follow Tania on FB, her feed is full of how marvellous her life is, how she can choose where she works, drops her boy off at school blah blah - she lives in a huge house on the back of it but I suspect she is at the very top of the pyramid due to her 'fame'.

I am definitely doing 80 day obsession in January (purple do you not use the secret site as I am sure they will be on there). However, there is a sneak peek this week being released - a week's worth of workouts are being released one a day so again, I assume they will be on the secret site so I am going to try them this week to see what they are like Smile I will report back if nobody else is going to try them.

Just done Extreme Circuit and doing ABC Extreme tomorrow - happy weekend!

Reastie · 04/11/2017 20:53

Hello hello (and waves to disappointed). I'm feeling quite negative about bb ATM, having recommended then so many times to people. Not the workouts but the sales methods. I think it's £129 per month for shakeology (or something like that). That's roughly double my gym membership Shock . I'm going through a LM phase ATM what with BA classes.

Did tf fire 45 today as it was raining so I didn't want to go for a run and fancied something I haven't done for ages but there were a lot of punching moves, which I had forgotten as I'm not suppose to do that with my elbow ATM so modified but still got a sweat on.

Purple well done on getting back to normal weight. I'm still about 4lbs over what I was in July and i am so hungry all the time ATM, it's so frustrating.

Purpleraindeer · 05/11/2017 19:43

Hardcore weekend roman! My legs were a bit jelly like today (dd4 challenged me to a race and I was so slow due to tired legs that she slowed down to let me catch up! Blush) so did ript circuit this afternoon rather than another max30.

I had forgotten about the secret site. I’ll definitely check there for 80 day obsession.

There was an article in the Times this weekend on Shaun t. Apparently he’s worth $100m+!! No wonder I suppose if many people are buying shakeology at £129 per mth. Outrageous. I don’t think B.B. on demand is particularly good value for £10 per mth. It’s cheaper to buy the DVDs surely?

Theromanempire · 06/11/2017 07:15

£100 million Shock Wow, Shaun has done good!!

Saw a promo video from Autumn about the sneak peek for 80-day obsession on FB yesterday. Seems like you need 3 different resistance bands and some 'sliders'. I have neither and not sure I can improvise them either so I am not sure whether the workouts will be worthwhile doing or not Hmm

BB is all starting to come across as a 'sell at every opportunity' organisation which is very disappointing - particularly when it will stop people doing the workouts which is their very reason for existence Sad

Didn't get an opportunity to work out yesterday so me and DH are going to try doing a double of Core Speed and ABC extreme tonight Shock

yumyumpoppycat · 06/11/2017 08:18

Hi All

Sorry for being awol, am off wagon but also we have been on hols which was lovely. Also the mouse did turn out to be mice. There is one hole the mouse man can't fill due to electricity cables so we need to get someone to box it in or something so dragging on. Anyway I obviously have to decontaminate my exercise rug and weights that live under the sofas now before I can resume exercise, luckily the rug was rolled up or I don't think I could cope with doing superman's and pushups on it! Especially as I saw a mouse run under the sofa....

Purple I would have thought Shaun T's worth was more down to dvd sales than shakeology? Crazy if he has made millions from sales of shakeology. I have a feeling BB are going to stop putting out as many dvds to boost ondemand. will be a shame if 80 day obsession doesn't go to dvd but sounds like there will be too many workouts for that?

Dissapointed great to have you back on thread, I had been thinking about hammer and chiselling next too!

Roman I have used paper plates as sliders before Grin the non BB bands kits aren't that expensive from amazon and are much better quality.

Reastie swimming is a good one to throw in the mix, I was very unimpressed with my swimming on hol but it is fun. I need lessons at some point to learn to swim with head in water.

Feel guilty for posting without exercising in a month Blush

Reastie · 06/11/2017 13:46

I've used dusters as sliders on my slidy hard floor Grin .

Can't believe Shaun ts worth, but I guess he is one of the main faces of bb. I wonder if he makes money when things are sold like a coach for bb does or if he has a fee to do them and that's it Hmm .

Good to see you back yumy, have been wondering about you. I'm the same as you wth swimming, I wish I could know how to swim with my head in! I tend to stick to backstroke as it's the one weirdly I think I have the best technique in but I'm always really self conscious about wiggling around the lane and banging into people.

Thermo enjoy your double tonight, sounds like hard work!

Did a run yesterday, just 40 mins but I keep telling myself better than nothing. I've been recommended to listen to an audiobook whilst running and was getting bored of my running soundtrack playlist so downloaded Michael mckintyre (can't sleep) book which made it go a lot quicker and made me slugger seemingly to myself whilst running.

Today thought I'd do a legs day. Made up workout of moves whilst watching tv (I have a lot of prerecorded stuff to get through) and haven't done much strength stuff at all for months. It was pitiful how I've lost my strength but my cardio fitness is up. Physio is going through pump moves on Thursday to see what I can do so I can stick that in my weekly mix too.

Rest day tomorrow.

OP posts:
Reastie · 06/11/2017 13:47

Btw yumy don't feel guilt, feel proud that despite a month you're getting back on it. In the grand scheme of your life that's the best thing you can do by getting back into workout habits.

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 08/11/2017 06:27

Hi poppy. Good to see you! Am sure you’ll be back on it soon. Good tip for paper plate sliders. There is zero chance I’d be buying those. I’ll probably modify or go with paper plates.

Am doing 21dfx this week. Power strength extreme last night. I really dislike supine crawls and pistol squats with a passion. They’re so awkward to do and they hurt.

yumyumpoppycat · 09/11/2017 17:00

Thanks Purple and Reastie! I did an autumn workout today Chisel balance - she obviously like pistol squats as there were two moves with them in and each had to be done twice for each side so 8 times 15 or something crazy [groan] I hate hate pistol squats!

But anyway good to be back. This is my plan (famous last words)

  1. follow hammer and chisel workouts in correct order aiming for at least 30 workouts by Christmas Day.
  2. set my fitness pal for active (I never do this) and aim to actually be active this means my goal is approx. 1650 a day but I will balance it out if I eat more on one day with a lower day the following day
  3. aim for 8 portions of fruit and veg a day but no other rules other than cals as I am bound to be led astray by toffee nut lattes
  4. at least 6.5 hours of sleep
Reastie · 09/11/2017 17:55

Yumy that sounds like a great plan. The fruit and veg thing is a good one as the more of that you eat the more nutrients you get and it bulks out the diet. I average about 8 a day, it's not that difficult once you're used to it.

I hate pistol squats, I can barely squat at all doing them.

Super bad day on wednesday, had very bad, erm, toilet troubles in the morning and so had to cancel BA class, boo. Also meant I had to do a workout today rather than yesterday as had enforced day off yesterday. Went for an 8.5k run and for some reason felt rally hard on my legs.

Good news is physio has developed some toning exercises for me and I'm going to try at the week end. Once I'm into weights they are my favourite type of workout but it's been so long I've lost all strength and they are so hard. Here's hoping I can get a bit of muscle back!

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 10/11/2017 08:22

Good plan poppy. Particularly the veg. I eat loads. Dinner for me is normally a piece of meat plus green veg. I don’t eat fruit though Blush

Sorry to hear about the digestive troubles reastie. How annoying.

I’m super stiff today. Did dirty 30x on weds and then cardio challenge last night. Was supposed to be a 21dfx week but I was in the car a lot yesterday and felt very stiff and sedentary so thought some max30 jumping about would be a good plan. My hamstrings and bum now hate me. I blame autumn and all the squats! Am supposed to be taking ds to soft play today. Let’s hope he’s happy to run around himself - there’s no chance of me running around after him!

Theromanempire · 10/11/2017 09:42

Yumyum welcome back. We've all been where you are and the hardest step is to get back on the exercise bandwagon but you can do it Smile Virtual high five from me!

I am so bad at eating fruit and veg Blush I will happily eat it if someone makes it for me (i.e. a nice salad, fruit salad etc) so it isn't that I don't like it, I just can't be bothered with all the prep.

3 of the A Little Obsessed videos are on the secret site so far (possibly a 4th one but I haven't checked this morning). I tried Total Body Core last night (had to adapt a bit due to not having any resistance bands) but I really enjoyed it. Some good moves - it is very similar style workout to Dirty 30. I am going to try AAA (which apparently stands for Arms, Abs and Ass) tonight which is 'working in the negative' Hmm Basically, for each move, you do the push move for 1 count and then release for 3 counts. It does involve sliders for about half the moves and I don't think they can be modified so I might need to dig some towels out of the drawer and use those and I can clean the floor at the same time Grin It did occur to me though how would it work if you have a carpeted floor? Will report back...

yumyumpoppycat · 10/11/2017 13:08

Purple hope your ds has fun at softplay and plays nicely where you can see him at a distance with a coffee in hand Wink I have a very slight ache today but am able to get things out of my fridge - when its really bad that is agony as have to squat.

Thanks Roman {hifives back} I am with you on veg prep. Basically I have to make an effort with veg - I don't hate it but don't really enjoy it unless it has had wonderful things done to it by someone who knows what they are doing (ie not me). I don't eat much fruit but normally will have an apple a couple of times a week because I have read they are very good for us, berries prob once a twice a week if I am being a total diet saint! My dp is one of those weird people who misses veg if he has a day without it. Am about to tuck in to omelette with a small red onion, most of a red pepper and spices in it , have some out of date salad leaves I might add to my plate too Blush

Workout 2 done Grin Hammer plyo - short one but includes pullups and pushups and lots of jumping! Still cant get over how well he jumps for such a bulky man - but sorry saagi I am not obsessed with your workout and eating, sleeping and dreaming about it!

I felt like I was a bit rubbish today so glad to be over my off the wagon stageand hopefully improve. Also my weigh in this morning was baaaaaaaaaaaaad. from 133 at one point this year to 150.2 this morning. This is my punishment for telling dsil I hadn't gained despite the all you can eat buffet breakfast and tea on hol.

Have a lovely Friday all

Purpleraindeer · 12/11/2017 17:23

Great to hear you’re back into it poppy. Hope this weekends eating/workouts have gone to plan.

Am wondering about giving ‘a little obsessed’ a try too roman. How is it going? I did 21dfx upper yesterday and then lower today. My legs were still sore from last weeks workouts on Saturday Shock no idea why as I didn’t do anything I’ve not done before. I read at the weekend for those of us in our 40s (sob) we need to do weights 2x per week to combat muscle loss. Depressing.

Hope you’ve all had good weekends!

yumyumpoppycat · 12/11/2017 23:10

Purple I am sure you have muscles most 30 year olds given you have been doing pushups etc! This woman is in her 70s and started working out in her 50s!! ernestineshepherd.net/

I didn't do so well yest as woke up feeling a bit like I was coming down with something so skipped w/o - spent most of the days going from one end of town to the other taking dc to parties etc so got my steps in and was 149.9 this morning so not all bad Grin Felt fine today so w/o 3 now done and it was chisel iso strength - bloody hell autumn does too many rounds of lunges on one side at a time. I suspect there will be aches tomorrow!

Reastie · 13/11/2017 14:32

Hope everyone is feeling healthy today.

I did a run on Saturday and yesterday I did modified pump after getting modified moves from the physio. Not feeling it as much as I thought I might today but did take it easy. Felt so good to be back doing weights, please let this be a regular thing as there's only so much cardio I can take!

Purple that's really interesting re weights in your 40s.

I'm prepping for a lesson with a focus on sugar tomorrow for my year 7 healthy eating lesson. I've discovered something shocking. Every day for snack I have a 'nakd' bar which is just dried fruit and nuts. I pick the flavours that have a higher percentage of nuts than some to limit the sugars but I know through having dried fruit it's bound to be sugary (but natural sugars but I'm still trying to be low with sugar). I discovered one of my nakd bars (I was checking packaging as am going to get students to compare labels and learn what to look for on packaging) had 49% sugar! So I'm now back to making my own snack bars with double the amount of almonds to dried apricots. I've also gone back to making my own soup rather than buying fresh supermarket soup to limit sugar that way too.

Theromanempire · 13/11/2017 21:22

Evening.

Good to see the workouts are still happening Smile

So A Little Obsessed = A Little Disappointing Sad I have done 3 out of the 5 and they are {dare I say it} easy not very challenging. I don't know if they are supposed to be set at a easy level as a taster for 80-day obsession but it certainly seems that way.

I did Total Body Core which is almost a perfect substitute for Dirty 30 if you fancy a change (and is probably the best out of the 3).

AAA was ok - some exercises were harder than others and I definitely feel my hamstrings will be hurting tomorrow due to the last exercise but there were a few where, although I was sure I was doing it correctly, I couldn't feel it working any muscle at all Hmm

Cardio core - the most disappointing out of the 3 in terms of exertion level. Autumn really stresses how hard it is going to be and her workout buddies really sell that aswell but it really isn't. Now it isn't that me and DH are superfit (because we really aren't) and we both finished it and said 'is that it'? It was fun, good structure to it and we probably will do it again but if you think of Speed 2.0 being at maximum exertion level (10) I would say that Cardio Core is about a 6/7 so it does feel a bit like a wasted workout Hmm.

Also, DH really hated the cliqueness of the team - lots of inside jokes etc . To be fair, they have literally worked out together every day for 80 days so I do understand but it is a bit annoying.

Sorry - really long review there Blush
