Yes defo roman - I haven't exercised much this week - I reckon one really good fun workout would sort me out and get me back in the zone. Any ideas?

Purpleraindeer · 15/09/2017 19:11

Speed 2.0!

yumyumpoppycat · 15/09/2017 22:19

Grin right sorted for tomorrow!

Theromanempire · 15/09/2017 22:23

Yep agree with Speed 2.0 - time goes so quick with it! Enjoy Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 15/09/2017 22:27

Thanks Roman, it was a no-brainer really wasn't it!

Reastie · 16/09/2017 16:17

How did speed 2 go yumy?

Did a run this morning. An hour and 9.5k. I moaned inwardly throughout the first half, then got my footing and had a brill 15 minutes before my calf started really hurting so took a short cut home. The whole of the first half my inward monologue was 'you're not going fast enough/you're not working hard enough/look how rubbish you/you'll never get better' I got really fed up of it and had to talk myself down. I think my problem is I'm very competitive with myself and always want to do more and more and when I don't or can't I get frustrated. Does anyone else get this? I also need some new killer running tunes as I'm getting bored of my current soundtrack, any suggestions? My current faves for running (and I fully admit I have terrible taste in music) as I want to break free by queen, the rocky theme tune eye of the tiger, mr blue sky from electric light orchestra (I think), Britney Spears' work bitch and Eminems till I collapse. I need more motivational songs!

Anyway, I went to gao this afternoon to get some jeans. They had absolutely nothing in a size 12 so I took to the changing rooms a size 10 and size 14. Was all a bit of a hurry so tried on size 14 (they are stretch skinny Ines) and they seemed to be ok so bought them. Felt so depressed at buying a size up I asked the lady how the sizes came up wanting her to tell me they always came up really small and so to size up to make me feel better and she told me they come up big, which made me feel even worse! So now I'm wondering if I've bought a pair of jeans that will stretch and be too big as soon as I wear them (you know how stretch jeans do?) or if I'm gaining weight/inches (I have gained up to 3lbs from holiday weight but still....).

Hope your Saturdays are filled with good workouts

My sat was not filled with good workouts Sad picked up a cold from the kids and felt rubbish - really lethargic and coldly. So didn't work out at all. Felt the same today and was going to skip it but DH persuaded me to start and give up after 10mins if I felt rubbish. Did upper fix as that isn't too jumpy aroundy and felt a lot better after I did it. Am sick of feeling ill though - this is my 3rd low grade bug in 6 wks. Angry

I totally get you re the running reastie. I don't feel like that with anything else but i do with running as it is so comparable - every run can be compared to another and to someone else which makes it easy to feel you're not doing enough/going fast enough etc. That's why I like DVDs - not nearly as easy to compare so harder to beat yourself up about things. No advice for you really, but remember there are so many reasons to go running beyond just the fitness bit - fresh air, endorphins, see the scenery, get some peace and quiet etc etc and you get all that irrespective of your speed or distance.

Hope you're all having a good weekend

yumyumpoppycat · 17/09/2017 19:18

I used to like running to Roxanne by the Police Blush (I was using dps mp3 player!)

Well done on exercising Purple, hope you are fully recovered soon.

I haven't exercised this weekend so speed 2.0 is on hold. I have no good reason but have been fairly active so hopefully it balances out and I HAVE to press play tomorrow or its just getting ridiculous.

I know how you feel Reastie - it feels a bit what is the point if not clearly getting better. BUT you are getting better and healthier - I guess you need some positive mantras - a bit like that jokey I am a strong confident woman thing.

yumyumpoppycat · 18/09/2017 19:35

Ok so I pressed play at last! Genuinely felt excited when getting my exercise rug out. Can't believe I was contemplating any workout other than 2.0 for my feel-good workout. whoop.

Hope everyone is ok!

Theromanempire · 18/09/2017 19:56

yumy I did Speed 2.0 today aswell Smile Soooooooo good!! And it goes so quick aswell...double bonus Grin

Will catch up later when I have more time.

Purpleraindeer · 18/09/2017 20:30

Yay - well done on speed 2.0 both of you!

Did 21df plyo today. Ow! My quads! As I never bother writing down what weights I use (Idiot!) I think I may have inadvertently worked a lot harder than the last time. I was super sweaty afterwards which I also don't recall from last time... anyway, as it hasn't actually killed me, I guess it has made me stronger or something.... Smile

Reastie · 18/09/2017 20:41

Yay yumy. That's great, nothing beats that favourite workout feeling!

Purple how are you feeling today? Hope you feel better soon, it's rubbish when you're ill several times in a row. Hopefully it's just a short cold and you'll be back on form quickly.

Rest day today after a body attack DVD yesterday. I think I did the 95 one which was weird as it had about 45 mins of class then stopped (after the last abs track) and then went back to more jumpy tracks, and by the time I'd finished abs I was ready to finish as it just didn't feel right getting back and into cardio work again. I did Grin though as random guy walking off the street with 'I heart nz' tshirt was in it again and in the front again, same shirt and everything! It felt hard on my body doing body attack the day after an hours run though, I felt like my body needed a rest day to recouperate so I may switch around workout days and have Sunday not Monday as a rest day.

Reastie · 18/09/2017 20:42

Posted with purple. Purple it may also always be your body is weak from the cold so it made it feel harder than last time.

Theromanempire · 18/09/2017 21:41

OK so just browsing out fave website...found Body Attack 69 which is great (I remember it from my gym days). But that random bloke with the 'I heart NZ' t shirt is on there aswell...same man, same shirt. A quick Google shows that BA 69 was released in early 2010 so that means he has been there in the same shirt for at least 7 years Shock Shock

yumyumpoppycat · 18/09/2017 22:08

Thanks all - brilliant you did speed 2.0 too Roman - it was obviously the right day for it! I was going to say ewww re NZ tshirt man, but actually I can beat that - the leggings I had on in my before picture when we were on thread 1 were from 2009 and I still have them now!

Sounds like it was a good plan to take a rest day Reastie - I don't know about you but sometimes it feels like my bones need the rest more than anything!

Purple well done on working out, esp if you feel better for it. I know what Reastie means though, as I have (can't quite believe it myself) exercised when I thought I was better but then started to feel clammy and feverish during the workout. It is genuinely tricky to know when to go back to working out after illness, sometimes it seems to help with getting better other times not.

yumyumpoppycat · 18/09/2017 22:10

Unless Bodyattack man never takes the shirt off in which case eww again!

Reastie · 19/09/2017 06:18

I think that's I heart nz guy there in the front row on body attack 87

reastie it is him - I get the feeling that it is an in-joke now and that he is there at all the filmings of the launch. I have a friend who is a Body Attack instructor and has been for about 10 years now so am sure she would know the goss about the 'I heart NZ' man - problem is I am not sure how I could bring the conversation round to it without admitting about the secret site which I don't want to do Confused

Remember everyone - rest days are as important as workout days and your body is probably telling you something if it is aching/hurting Wink Lecture over now Grin

5am workout today - Rip'T Up done. Feels so good knowing I have done it for the day but so hard when the alarm goes off. Going to Clubbercise tonight (taught by the above-mentioned friend). Maybe I should buy an 'I heart NZ' t-shirt and wear it to see if it starts the conversation Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 19/09/2017 20:54

Roman when you are doing 5am workouts what time do you go to bed?

I did most of t25 core cardio - bloody hard as modifiying less than when I did it before.

Tricky fitting in workouts now. I used to get up with dp at 6ish and then could easily fit it in before dropping kids at school and heading off for work. Now though dp's work doesn't open as early so he is leaving a good 45 minutes later, also ds's friend has been knocking for him at 7.45 - ds is never ready so he always comes in which I find stressful as the house is usually messy. Today I figured I would hang on and exercise once ds had left as I was working at home and could have a quick shower and pull on jeans etc for school run, but the friend didn't arrive until 8.05! Gah.

Theromanempire · 19/09/2017 21:48

yumy I aim for bed at 10 and then usually mess around on my phone etc for a bit so probably sleep by 10.30. I love my sleep aswell but psychologically I can't seem to go to bed earlier than 10 unless I'm ill Hmm

I'm with you on the messy house...I hate impromptu DC friends visits as it stresses me out that the house is often untidy Blush no idea how people manage to have their houses permanently looking like a show house??

Purpleraindeer · 20/09/2017 07:45

Our house is always tidy at 7.30pm after kids in bed. Sadly this is a waste as no-one would normally drop round to see it in that state! The rest of the day it is varying grades of messy. I'm not embarrassed. I feel i do enough and it's not as if I'm sitting around all day on my phone when I could be tidying etc

I feel like I'm missing out on the body attack chat. Might try one at the weekend but the 1hr length does put me off a bit.

Did cardio extreme last night. LOVE that one. Feels easy to start with but by the end I was knackered. I might add it to my go to 'hard but fun' workout list for when I can't decide which ones to do.

V frustrating re your workout timings poppy. 5am start is a big commitment to be considering! Could you also think of doing an evening workout before dinner?

Reastie · 20/09/2017 14:53

Today is a GOOD DAY (said in capitals for emphasis). I had a killer body attack class and got really in to it (still no high fiving but there was clapping). I find my heart rate on some tracks was nearing 180 so it's an amazing cardio workout. To make my day even better I've got my mum tickets to strictly come dancing live for her Christmas present (she's going to love it!) AND I got an email to say I've won a mn prize sponsored thread. Oh, and I had to go to my gym reception to query something about my entry card and she asked me my name and then said 'hmm, I wonder if there's another reastie as this picture doesn't look like you' and it was because they have a photo of me pre weight loss!!! She didn't even recognise me from my fat picture! .

Yesterday I did 21df flat abs and tomorrow depending on what state my legs are in from today's body attack I might do a workout.

My house is usually a state but I like it all nice and clean but it never lasts and I find it soul destroying how it never stays nice. I try and generally the sitting room is pretty good most of the time, but everywhere else is patchy depending on what's been happening. I'm being lazy ATM as I'm back at work after the summer so I'm focusing on getting back into that groove and allowing the house to slide until I get my energy mojo back from adjusting to working.

Yumy that does sound tricky with workouts. My dd is painfully slow at changing and getting ready in the mornings but if I offer an incentive (e.g. You can have chocolate spread on bread for breakfast if yOu get changed quickly maybe not a very healthy example or I have a competition with her to see who can get changed first between us. Good incentive here also is if she's ready early then she can have five minutes of lego cartoon before she leaves.

Wow Reastie what an amazing day!I think the body attack is clearly bringing you good luck Grin so exciting to win a prize too. My footie loving dad is a strictly fan which I wouldn't have expected in a million years, your mum will love it - that should be a lovely treat for both of you!

We have booked a couple of things over xmas including £10 royal opera house tickets for me to see the nutcracker with my mum and dsis, which I am really looking forward to. We went to a my first ballet this year with my two dds (ds was invited but declined!) the girls were unimpressed but my mum and sister really enjoyed it, so fingers crossed they will like this too.

Only I think 10.30 is when I will aim to get to be so I am in by 11.00 -but look its already on the way to midnight and I have dishes to do, gah. Yes I am the same I really would like to have spontaneous visitors etc but can't. My house goes from tidy to messy in half an hour it feels!

Purple I love the idea of my house being tidy every evening - I did a tidy up this evening and maybe it will have to be a thing - 7.00 tidy time for half and hour or so. I have to admit I do mumsnet and watch tv way more than I should. It does feel relentless sometimes with work, children's homework, house work, cleaning, tidying, laundry, gardening, organising etc then throw in exercise and trying to lose weight which is an ongoing saga and the odd hours long nit combing sessions on a bad week!

Bit of T25 today - it is always harder than I remember!

Theromanempire · 21/09/2017 12:45

Reastie well done on yesterday Smile Sounds like an amazing day and how cool that they gym person didn't recognise you - total win!! Have you managed to settle on some modifications during the Body Attack class? Do you just do your own thing in the upper and core tracks? Interestingly, when I was pregnant, I think I was the first person at the gym to continue doing Attack classes whilst pregnant...I just created my own modifications as stuff got harder or unsafe and managed to keep going up to about 7 months. I got some strange looks at first but then everyone got used to me doing whatever I was doing...and after that, tons of women followed my path and carried on in pregnancy (I even had a couple of people come to me for advice about how I had managed!). That was a bit of a long-winded way of saying that people stop looking quickly and actually might be grateful that you created the path first (if that makes sense)?

Yum did you get up at 5 this morning? I agree that I find it harder and harder to be in bed by 10 - the DC are growing up and the eldest's bedtime is 10 so I always feel I can't go to bed before him (plus he is still my 'baby' and likes me to tuck him in - he is 11 Grin) and then I have jobs to do or just want some child-free time before I go to sleep. I am permanently knackered as even if I don't need to exercise at 5am, I still have to wake up at 5.45 to get ready for work Grin

Purple I'm doing Cardio Fix Extreme tonight Confused I do like it and enjoy it but I know how hard it is (even though I modify quite a bit) so I can't say I look forward to it Grin Have you done ABC Extreme yet? I quite like it as it is a mix of leg and abs exercises so you get 2 for the price of 1 (always a bonus!)
