Yumy the man in the front left as you look at it looks like he's just wearing his jeans for the workout! Maybe he didn't have a suitable top and had to take it off for the workout Hmm . So, what are your fave celeb style workout dvds? I haven't done many of them for years but I remember nell mcandrew did some good ones.

reastie me, me, me re Body Attack Grin I love it but it is hard (although I see yumy thinks it isn't too hard Grin). I could talk for hours about it as I did classes for years and was a true Body Attack devotee! Best description I can give is that it is like old-school aerobics but highly choreographed to fab tunes. Hardest class in terms of pure cardio I've ever done but also the most fun! God I miss it...can still remember routines even now. Footloose and Poison are the ultimate bestest tracks ever but they are probably 10 years old now so newer instructors wouldn't do them. See, I really could talk forever! If you want to know how the class is structured, just shout Wink

purple well done for persevering with 21dfx...sounds like it is challenging you which is a good thing Smile yep, my DH does seem to enjoy our workouts more when we do one of Autumn's HmmGrin He did comment the other day about how her boobs were about to pop out but can't remember which workout it was- may well have been cardio fix extreme as we did that last week.

Theromanempire · 03/09/2017 22:41

Ooh just remembered, there is at least one Body Attack video on the secret site (and it is the one with Footloose and Poison) so you could try it before you go? Can PM you the details if you want.

Purpleraindeer · 04/09/2017 08:29

Body attack sounds like a lot of fun. Will look for it on the secret site.
I struggled to sit down this morning and getting up again is worse Shock. 21dfx is definitely doing something!! Rest day today thank goodness

Theromanempire · 04/09/2017 22:03

Ooh just need to share this...I did Cardio Fix tonight and you have to do burpees for 60 seconds (twice). Normally I manage 6-8 before having to stop and modify. Today I managed 13 SmileSmile yay, go me Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 05/09/2017 07:56

Well done Roman Grin that is brilliant!

I was red in the face for ages after doing body attack but the funness makes it less hard.

Theromanempire · 05/09/2017 09:32

yumy it is fun isn't it? If you have a good instructor, they really make the class so much better aswell Smile I miss body attack soooo much Sad

yumyumpoppycat · 05/09/2017 15:32

Roman the cost of my class package has gone up so I have cancelled my subscription Sad but a few classes left to take. Sod pilates I will do body attack ;) They do offers from time to time so will have to look out for those.

yumyumpoppycat · 05/09/2017 15:34

YY to instructor as well - makes a huge difference to the atmosphere.

Reastie · 05/09/2017 20:02

Sorry, back at work this week and been hectic but managed it sneak in a 25 minute run this afternoon.

Class for body attack is booked for tomorrow morning but I'm only second on waiting list so fingers crossed I get a spot. If not I'll try and do a quick something in the afternoon before I pick up dd.

Thermo my question is about the upper body track. I read there is a toning track for upper and lower. Is the upper one mainly just push ups? As I can't do those with injury. I could maybe do a set on my knees barely going down far but not a while track. I'm trying to think what else I could do to make use of the track if I can't do that. I might do abs but I worry about looking bizarre doing something completely different to what everyone else is doing. At least at home you don't get self conscious!

I've also read things about having to run in circles Confused . I also have thrush (lovely!) so hoping that clears up by morning or I may not be greatly placed to do a workout in public as they might not appreciate my itching Wink .

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 05/09/2017 21:41

reastie yes there is a full track of upper work (a mix of press ups, tricep press ups, burpees and plank work generally). I guess it can't be modified without doing a completely different set of exercises so I suggest you speak to the instructor before the class and tell her about your injury and ask for suggestions...they are trained to accommodate all sorts of injuries and should look out for you during this track and guide you on what to do. I did Body Attack throughout my 2nd pregnancy up to 7 months - I couldn't do the abs work that involved crunches etc so I often just did stuff on my hands and knees or just sat the abs track out altogether...as long as the instructor knows, they'll help!

As for running, you can just stand in a corner and jog on the spot when everyone else is running in a circle but I bet once you are there, the atmosphere will make you want to just throw yourself into it Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 05/09/2017 23:10

Yes everyone runs/jogs behind each other round the room it's a bit mad (just need some benny hill music) - people prob wont be running super fast. There probably will be high fives at this point. Instructors always seem to ask about injuries - stay near the front so they don't forget you. For pushups they might suggest you make more of a table rather than a slope with your body so your weight is not as much on your shoulders - would that work? Pushups are not for long, if like the class I went to so don't worry. Are you allowed to do wall pushups yet - that might be another option. For burpees could you step them? Hope you get a spot and love it Reastie!

Reastie · 06/09/2017 06:58

I'm still waiting to see if I have a spot and crossing fingers, two hours till class start time. It sounds like it might be really fun although I can't imagine the people in the class high fiving, my gym is vair naice and they don't tend to do that kind of thing. They also seem to be very very cliquey and specific about getting 'their spot' for classes so not sure where I will be permitted to stand as depends on that (I've been given evil eyes, asked to move, and warned to move by another person on previous occasions to new classes!). I suppose I'm worried the instructor will just tell me to sit out for the upper track when I don't want to do nothing. I think I'll tell them I'll just do it but an extremely modified version or think of something that keeps me busy to do if I can't do any more. Cross your fingers for me I get on!

OP posts:
Reastie · 06/09/2017 16:07

Ok, so I got a spot! I did enjoy it but didn't like the toning track or th plank work with the abs because of stupid arm. I think I have actually done a body attack class once about ten years ago. It was the class that I refer to as indigestiongate as I did it after dinner and there was so much bouncing about I got indigestion and felt sick for two days afterwards! Today was much more successful. Wasn't as hard as I thought but teacher said she was doing a gentler class than the more hard core ones. Class was over full so not much space but can see I will get in to it. No high fiving going on though and atmosphere not as good as I was hoping but I think that was more the general people there than the instructor. Nice high heart rate and looking forward to next week and fitted in very well with work.

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 06/09/2017 22:41

Reastie that's funny there was no high fives - sweaty high fives are a bit gross I guess, so not sooo bad to miss out on those Grin glad it went well overall. Shame if less friendly at a naice gym. Total mixed bag of people at the one near me.

Theromanempire · 07/09/2017 09:16

reastie glad you enjoyed it although if you didn't get sweaty high fives, then you didn't get the full Body Attack 'experience' Grin

All good here - on course with my schedule (DH keeps complaining that I won't let him deviate off it cos he just wants to avoid workouts he doesn't like Hmm). Extreme Circuit tonight which I haven't done that often so can't really remember much about it but I am guessing it is hard with it being called 'extreme' Grin

Purpleraindeer · 07/09/2017 20:58

Hope you survived extreme circuit roman!

You've really whetted my appetite for body attack. As I'll be doing it at home perhaps I just need to high 5 myself in the mirror Confused?

Had some impromptu rest days due to life getting in the way. Annoying. Did dirty 30 today. Holy crap that was hard. I couldn't even hold the weight for the 'bonus' move. I forecast difficulty with the stairs tomorrow.

Theromanempire · 07/09/2017 21:15

I did survive Grin improvised some moves as I just couldn't be arsed with walking ski abs Blush so did my own thing! Enjoyed it more than I remembered and even DH said he was enjoying it (he usually grumbles all the way through and then says 'oh that was good' at the end Hmm).

If only we could have a group body attack session - would be fab! We should have a virtual one where we all do the same one from the secret site at the same time Smile

purple yes I remember dirty 30 extreme being really hard which is why it is not on my schedule so well done!

yumyumpoppycat · 07/09/2017 21:30

Yes to virtual body attack grin {hifives all round}

Reastie · 08/09/2017 06:55

I have been known to high five myself on workout dvds Blush. I might do the secret site body attack on Sunday, have to have a hunt for it beforehand so I know where it is.

Went to physio yesterday, she has been researching my issues a lot and has a new plan of attack which includes me wearing a horrible brace on my arm to stop it bending every night until Christmas. She has also confirmed it was doing push ups that caused the issue Sad . Apparently if this last ditch plan doesn't work it'll be back to the specialist and potentially surgery Shock . So no upper work or weights for this next few months, I'll be totally cardio'd out!

Thermo I'm like your dh in that I usually grumble through the workouts and then afterwards tell dh how much I enjoyed it!

Purple I've never done dirty 30 but it sounds hard just from the name! Life does get in the way sometimes but you're back on it and working hard.

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 08/09/2017 16:55

Walking ski abs? What madness is that?!

Sorry to hear your shoulder issues rumble on reastie. On the bright side you are going to have legs and bum of steel and the cardio vascular fitness of mo farah!

I can't find the body attack workout on the secret site. All I find when I search on it are 3min previews?

Started week 2 of 21dfx today with plyo fix. Much better this week as I got the weights right - last week was alternately too easy and too hard. Managed to do the one legged squat jumps weighted this week which amazed me - that's a big change in 1 week so programme is obv doing something. I don't like the obsession with appearance on it though. All the female cast are in training for bikini competitions which seems a bit depressing. I bet the men on it aren't!

Theromanempire · 08/09/2017 22:02

purple search for les mills and you will have to plough through loads of combat/pump/previews but you should find at least a couple of 60 minute videos. I've just found body attack 85 so am going to hopefully do that tomorrow if I can fit it in. You've all got me desperate to do one although I suspect I'll be modifying a lot Blush

reastie sorry you are still suffering with your arm...I can feel your frustration Sad

Reastie · 09/09/2017 07:29

I've got body attack 85 saved ready for tomorrow Grin so thermo we will kind of do it together and can compare after. Purple did you search bodyattack as one word? It didn't work for me when I did it as two. There's at least three full bodyattack workouts on there.

Purple that's great progress already. I know what you mean about the women looking bikini ready, I can find it a bit soul destroying.

Did anyone watch the Lisa Riley baggy body programme about her having an op to lose her loose skin? My tummy is about half as bad as hers with loads of loose skin dangling and part of me had wondered about getting it removed at some point but it's a scary looking op with huge scars, I think I'll just have to be happy with what I have and never ever wear a bikini

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 09/09/2017 12:40

Is this it or close enough body attack

Theromanempire · 09/09/2017 13:25

Yum yes, same workout Smile the one on the secret site is better though as it is the proper Les Mills trainers doing it and they don't just focus on one person but that is just my preference! I'm going to do it about 4 this afternoon (DH is not happy that I told him to do his own thing this morning as he wanted to exercise with me but there is no way on earth he would cope with Body attack - he has the worst co-ordination I have ever seen in a human being Wink)

Reastie no I didn't watch it -mainly because Lisa Riley does my head in! However, I always think life is cruel in that people make so much effort to lose weight and the result is baggy skin Sad which obviously can be disguised in clothes but not in bikinis etc which, having lost so much weight, you probably want to wear. Pretty crap really isn't it?

Update on Winter skirt project - can now do up my absolute fave skirt which I bought about 2 years ago but never been able to wear Smile It is a bit tight and not sure I could breathe but at least it does up... a few more weeks and it might actually be comfortable enough to wear Grin I can definitely tell I have lost weight - everything is just fitting better and I haven't missed one exercise session on my schedule (although I have had to double up occasionally) Halo Grin
