I hope you find me

Limped through eccentric upper last night. Was knackered - I have a cough which wakes me up every night - so skipped the burn out Blush

Theromanempire · 01/06/2017 09:54

Morning

Reastie sorry about your back Sad hope it is just a twinge and you are up and running again asap! So frustrating when you want to exercise and can't.

Yum yes, 22HC is on the secret site so can you not access the workouts via there?

Boobz welcome back - hope you are ok! Love the boxing photo - you look so cool!

All good here - am still exercising regularly and my eating is reasonably ok. I do feel like my clothes are fitting slightly better but it is such slow progress and my holiday is rapidly approaching...I need to accept that yet another holiday is going to happen where I am far heavier than I want to be Sad One year, I really will learn and sort my head out much earlier Blush

Did ABC extreme this morning - still mixing things up between T25, 21df, 21dfx and CDF. Definitely keeps things interesting Grin

Anyway, was looking at a 21dfx workout - the Challenge. Basically it is 13 different bodyweight exercises and you do 4 of each one adding an extra exercise on each time. So, it starts with 4 Surrenders, then you do 4 Inchworms and then add the 2 together, then 4 of something else and then add all 3 together (if that makes sense) and so on until you do all 13 exercises togther. I really want to try it although I know I would modify most of it - anyone else want to try it with me? I think I need a big shot of courage to do it Blush Dh won't even entertain it Grin

Reastie · 01/06/2017 10:43

Thermo I'm all for mixing workouts up, I did that a lot when I could actually do workouts . The challenge sounds great but I can't offer as I'm so limited with what I do, I'll do it with you once I'm on form though if ever I am

Did a run this morning after three days of absolutely no exercise. It feels good to be back! Back was still a little twitchy but a lot better than it was and I was desperate! Only 4K as it's all I had time for with family looking after dd as they couldn't spare much time, but better than nothing. I've been eating a lot this week I think just feeling sluggish and making me feel hungry. Have been too scared to weigh myself!

Mud run at the week end, I need to sort out what I'm going to put in my running belt thing. I'm thinking a snack bar for dd and me (we will be very slow as she doesn't have a fast button), my phone for photos (have got a waterproof case for it especially), some tissues and hand wipes [germ phobic] and in case of emergencies nurofen. Anything I've missed? I've never done anything like this. Do they even have water on the race or is a 5k children's race too short to entertain that idea? Maybe I should take plasters etc or would that be overkill? I can tell my stomach is going to look huge with a bulging flip belt!

Meant to say, purple I hope your cough gets better soon, that sounds really frustrating, but well done for persevering and doing a workout despite the tiredness.

Hi roman - glad the exercise and eating are gojng well. You're so consistent with your exercise - it's fab Star so you'll get there. Normally I'm always up for a challenge but I really don't enjoy that challenge workout. I find it really repetitive - mostly because after 13 rounds you've done 52 surrenders and 48 inchworms. Argh! I actually ended up with really sore wrists afterwards.

Reastie - I reckon phone + tissues/wipes is enough. No need for snacks/pain killers I wouldn't have thought. Have a fab time - I bet you love it. I love races like that.

Did triometrics last night. I think that workout is really challenging - I've done it a lot and even though I'm better at it it's still hard. I'm always broken by the end of it. I'd really recommend it to you all - no weights needed but it feels like a strength workout because of all the balances etc.

TheBusThatCouldntSlowDown · 04/06/2017 13:52

Hi, I've been reading through this thread and getting inspired by you all! Does anybody mind if I join?

I've decided I want to have a super toned bikini body by Christmas. Currently I do classes at the gym (spinning, body pump, kettlebells) about 3/4 times a week, and I'm getting more toned, but not as fast as I hoped. Perhaps my massive chocolate habit might be to blame for that...

You all seem really knowledgeable and dedicated, so please could you recommend me a programme to start this transformation? I'm 5'6, a size 12, my tummy is my problem area and I freaking hate burpees.

Purpleraindeer · 04/06/2017 17:17

Hi Bus - welcome!
many of us on this thread started with t25 so that's my first recommendation. If you're already quite fit you could also try insanity max30. If you've got more time available to you so can do 45-60min workouts then try Insanity or p90x (although for p90x you need weights/pull up bar etc). Unfortunately though you will definitely do burpees in most of these programmes, but as you get fitter you'll hate them less! Finally, if the most important objective is getting a bikini body, then the most effective way to do that is to also diet - if it's just about getting fit, then exercise alone is fine. Good luck - and post on here if you want support - we're a chatty bunch

I did my last p90x3 workout today Sad. Diet has gone totally to pot as we've had guests over the weekend. Never mind. Not sure what to do now. Am thinking I might have a max30 week whilst I decide. I'd like to do insanity asylum again but the omens aren't good - I've never been able to do more than 2 weeks of it before getting ill. And I have to confess, I'm not keen on stepping up to 5x per week of 60min workouts

Hope you've all had good weekends. Did the mud run go well reastie?

yumyumpoppycat · 04/06/2017 18:06

Hi Bus welcome! Christmas sounds doable, but sadly I think Purple is right, and the old 80% diet 20% exercise rule is true for getting that bikini look, but I think exercise is really important for improving posture, muscle tone etc - the sort of things that we might not immediately notice have improved but make a difference all the same. One of the best things about doing t25 etc is that when I have been to occasional gym classes I have been able to do burpees with the best of them even though I still used to hate them.

PS these are good for a chocolate hit protein bar or possibly switch to dark chocolate if being super virtuous!

I have been so so rubbish over half term, really really rubbish Blush but has been fun Grin

Very true about 22 HC no excuse for me not to get on with it this week then drat

Purple I was just thinking today I would love a new workout dvd set to inspire me. What about p90x max 30 hybrid? Sounds like your body is telling you full on asylum is too much - that happens to me when I do the 5:2 diet.

Hope everyone has had a good half term Flowers

RogerLimasOldestDreadlock · 04/06/2017 19:15

Hello, do you mind if I pop in?

We started P90X3 (again) yesterday.

I am extraordinarily unfit and weak!

I could do with your accountability as DH will be away most of the weak and I'll have to motivate myself to do it alone.

Reastie · 04/06/2017 21:02

Ohh, hello bus and roger.

Roger how long since you last did p90x3? There are some workouts on that programme I love. Did you finish the programme last time?

Bus there's a core de force that has had positive feedback on here that might work but I haven't done it myself. I sound very like you in that I'm the same height and size and tummy is my problem area too. Let me know how you get on as I may be pinching tips!

Purple thanks for the pre race advice. Well, I survived the mud run! Dd thought it was the most fun ever and will probably rope me into doing it next year if they do it again. In good news it had been pretty dry so it really wasn't as muddy as I thought. The hard core adult race looked very muddy but for the children's one there was only one super muddy walk through a giant muddy river type bit. There was a lot of walking through woodland that looked like it would be very boggy and muddy if it hadn't been so dry. I felt it was a blessing! I'm still in recovery from my grim experience in the portaloos there though .

Yumy, yup, no excuse with hc22! There's even turbofire hiit 15 minutes if you're really short on time, I had to resort to that in Friday when I had no time to workout but didn't want to do nothing.

Did a lovely cycle through country lanes this morning in fabulous weather. Slowly building up as I'm a rubbish cyclist and up to 13 k (I know this is pathetic for most). I really struggle with bum/lady area soreness and pain and if I could get that sorted I could go a lot further. I'm wondering about special padded shorts Blush .

Went out for lunch today so not very virtuous at all.

OP posts:
RogerLimasOldestDreadlock · 04/06/2017 22:33

@Reastie - how long? Errr, about 3 years since I did it properly, I think. Maybe more! I don't think we got to the end of the programme, but DH lost a bunch of weight, we both got toned (I wasn't measuring anything that time).

I've seen some of the Insanity workouts before, and they seem to be actually insane. I like P90X3, so I'm sticking with it!

We're on day 2. Did the X3 Yoga. Not too bad. DH is away for work tomorrow, so I need to make sure I actually do... The Challenge. Oh no...

Well done on your cycle. I definitely recommend the padded shorts (although on a little 11km ride last week I still had sore seat bones even with special shorts and a massive squishy saddle on the hire bike).

TheBusThatCouldntSlowDown · 05/06/2017 11:54

Thank you for the warm welcome and advice, please accept this cake made with protein powder Cake

I looked up the suggested work outs and I think I'm going to go for T25 to start, and then maybe move on to Insanity if I'm still alive and Core de Force if my tummy is still squidgy. I will have time to go through them all by Christmas. Would you recommend getting the streaming membership rather than buying the DVDs? It's roughly the same price and then I'd get access to all the workouts for a year, instead of just one.

Do you all follow the diet programmes too? Or just do your own high protein meal plans?

Reastie Padded shorts are a good idea. Why do they make the seats so uncomfortable? It makes no logical sense.

Theromanempire · 05/06/2017 15:26

Welcome to bus and roger Smile great to have some new people on the thread Smile

I agree with the recommendation for T25 but I also do 21 day fix which I love (it isn't that popular on here as the Shaun T workouts). They are only 30 minutes long aswell and a more 'stop-start' than T25 but they provide a good mix of cardio/weights. I also love the Core de Force ones - the vary in time lengths but are supposed to be amazing for your core/waist (I don't do them consistently enough for that benefit but do them once or twice a week as I just love them).

I try to combine regular exercise with 16:8 eating pattern (basically you only eat within a 8 hour window and fast for the other 16 hours) - it works slowly but I find it easy to stick to.

Reastie glad the mud run was fun - not my cup of tea at all but they do look fun.

Purple not sure what to suggest - the Shaun T week is coming up next week so that would be something to try. In the meantime, do a hybrid of the workouts you enjoy Smile

Hi to everyone else - will try and check in more later when I have more time.

RogerLimasOldestDreadlock · 05/06/2017 22:44

I did 'The Challenge'.

And managed a grand total of 2 pull ups/press ups each time. So. Weak!

Still, the only way is up!

yumyumpoppycat · 06/06/2017 20:33

Roger I am too scared to do the challenge, 2pullups and 2 pushups is actually really good for starting out (unless your name really is Roger Grin - even then 2 pullups is nothing to be sniffed at!).

Reastie you have my sympathies on portaloo trauma - stash some antibac wipes under a tree before the race next time - I am only half joking! Well done on run - fab your daughter loved it - another mini Star

My dd did a bit of 22 hard corps special ops with me this a.m, and politely informed me my tummy was showing and looked like a duck's beak when I was doing a bear crawl thing Shock Wtf is with those rollover burpee things btw can any of you do them - I am nowhere near coordinated or flexible enough.

{waves to roman}

Reastie · 06/06/2017 20:48

Yumy I had a running belt full of antibacterial wipes --thank goodness. I still shudder from the memory of the loos!

Rubbish day today as rest day, and it'll be a rest day tomorrow as I'm working late. My thought being I did a seven and a half km run yesterday and a pb cycle the day before. I really wanted to do something but I'm trying to be good with injuries and I think I need a rest day to help prevent injuries worsening. I had to grit my teeth about it though! I figure I was doing four k a run recently with a dodgy knee so I'm nearly on double that which is two of my previous workouts in one day so I counted yesterday as today too if that makes sense. I feel really fat and guilty though.

Yummy that really made me laugh about the ducks beak tummy, ahem, and tbh mine is the same too! What is the rollover burpee you speak of? I don't remember that. I remember the hardest move in hc for me randomly was I think the lying down to standing up and repeat and repeat. It should be so easy yet I just can't do it without putting my hands down to help me.

Roger just pressing play gets you points, that's the hardest thing, and like you say, the only way is up.

In random facts I ate loads of cucumber yesterday as I was hungry as I was making my lunch and it was there and easy to nibble on. I gave myself terrible burping and painful gas. Googled and apparently it's a thing when you eat too much cucumber, especially those with ibs, which I get badly. So there's a lesson for me there, cucumber only in moderation!

Bus sounds like you've got a plan. Personally I don't follow the diet programmes, but I do try to be careful with what I eat e.g. Limited processed foods, no sugar other than fruit.

Purpleraindeer · 07/06/2017 06:23

Reastie - am glad you and DD enjoyed it. I love the idea that you're encouraging your dd to have an active life too. There is nothing like the pre race portaloo is there? My dd had to use one recently and she'd not seen one before - her face was a picture!

Hi to Roger - well done on the challenge. It's a tough one mentally I think. I always feel a bit despondent as I'm half way through the 1st set thinking I've got 3 more to go. But it makes you feel hardcore - 2 pull ups is awesome.

Hi to roman too - worked out what 16hrs of fasting was Shock. That is some willpower you have

I've copped out and decided to do max30 mth 2. Did max out cardio last night - wow - had forgotten how fast it was. I was so sweaty and hot - that just doesn't happen with p90x3. It was great to get back to some cardio again. I felt it though - my legs are sore this morning in a good way.

Purpleraindeer · 07/06/2017 06:44

Forgot to say - I'm the proud owner of a ducks beak tummy too!! Grin will it ever be possible to get rid of it?!

Don't know what the burpee rollover is - is it a burpee with a side arm balance? I hear you on the get up get downs reastie. I find them hard and now realise that I'm probably cheating as I put my hands down. Blush

yumyumpoppycat · 07/06/2017 13:45

Glad its not just me Grin maybe I can at least aim to get it down from a duck to a smaller beaked creature {hopeful}

burpee rollover - it's in special ops - I can only find the special ops workouts on line so the hunt for my dvds will have to continue. I did special ops resistance today - I seem to be getting worse at even assisted pullups - think its just the lack of consistency and also the fact I really don't like doing them

Well done on resting Reastie - you are one of the rare breed who needs praise for not pressing play Grin

Enjoy max30 purple!

Theromanempire · 07/06/2017 15:48

Purple 16 hours fasting isn't that impressive when you consider I am asleep for 8 hours of it Grin I eat my tea at 8ish and then don't eat again until midday the following day - it is actually quite easy when you get into the habit of it. There is another thread knocking around at the moment about skipping breakfast and what a revelation it is! It saves you so many calories a day so you can actually eat decent sized portions at the 2 meals you do eat plus snacks.

Unfortunately I do not have a ducks beak tummy...it is just very round and large and just dangles down when I am in plank Sad

Supposed to be doing Cardio Fix Extreme tonight but not sure I can face it (I am sure it is the hardest of all the workouts on my hybrid schedule) ...might see if I can persuade DH to do a Core De Force workout instead. We have more time than expected tonight so we could fit one of the 40 minute ones in.

Theromanempire · 07/06/2017 15:50

Yumyum omg, that burpee rollover looks evil Shock I remember a similar move in a Metafit class I did a while ago but it was just the rollover part of it (no burpee) and that was so much harder than you think it is. The proper exercise was to do it without putting your hands down but the modification was to put your hands down to push yourself up. I just could not do it without putting my hands down however hard I tried - it was just instinct plus my legs weren't strong enough.

Purpleraindeer · 08/06/2017 08:39

I showed my dd the video of the burpee rollover. She loved it and immediately demoed it. I haven't tried it yet but fear it will end in tears!

Did max out power last night. OMG - I thought I'd nail the press ups section after all the p90x3 but actually it was worse. My shoulders were killing. Damn Shaun t and his plyo push ups!

Btw after the comment earlier about cake made from protein powder I googled to see if there was such a thing. There isn't. Sad boo

Purpleraindeer · 08/06/2017 08:40

Did you manage cardio fix extreme last night roman? I remember that one being horrendous. Mind you all the 21df extreme work outs are hard.

Theromanempire · 08/06/2017 10:11

Purple pah, kids - they make everything look so easy don't they Angry DS2 can do one-armed burpees with ease and doesn't hesitate in showing me as often as he can...mind you he can also still eat his own toes Hmm

We did a Core de Force workout in the end - DH was home a bit late so we ran out of time and couldn't be bothered getting all the weights/mats out for Cardio Fix Extreme. Can't say I was too upset by that Grin

I only do 2 of the 21dfx workouts now as the others are too hard Blush - ABC extreme is good though as it is a great mix of leg and abs work.

On a side note, I am wearing a pair of trousers today that I couldn't do up a few weeks ago and was having to use an elastic hair bobble to attach both parts of the clasp Smile They are a bit snug but not uncomfortably so (yet - I do tend to bloat as the day goes on...) so a slight NSV there Smile

Happy voting day everyone!

Purpleraindeer · 08/06/2017 10:52

Just snuck in a max out sweat. Arghhhh I was so tired and maxed out at 6mins and took frequent pauses after that Blush. I guess working out when tired is better than not at all, but I'm sure you don't get the full benefit. Achieved my all time max heart rate on the hit the floor tuck jumps.

Brilliant NSV roman! Star all the hard work is paying off
