Anyone fancy joining me for a quick 30 day shred before Christmas?

I've never done it before but am feeling pretty bleugh at the moment and could do with a pick-up. I think it will help me to watch what I'm eating a bit in the run-up to Christmas too.

I've no idea if I will actually manage a whole 30 days but probably more likely to if someone else is spurring me on! Anyone up for it?

That's what I'm worried about Miss Willa!

I just did day 4 of level and found it HARD I think because of previous aches! I think I'll start finding it ok just in time to move up to the next level.

Also, does anyone else struggle to time their breathing properly? I feel like my default is to breathe in the opposite way to that which Jillian recommends and I have to really concentrate to get it right.

Had a 2.5 hour car journey today. When I came to the end I nearly couldn't get out of the car!! Ouch!

indigox · 24/11/2016 15:39

I'm still aching from the 7 minutes I did before hurting myself, I dread to think how bad it would be if I'd finished the whole thing, even my shoulder/chest muscles hurt.

DeliciousIrony · 24/11/2016 19:25

The pain does get better, honestly Smile

Having said that, I tried Yoga Inferno L1 today for the first time and found it fairly brutal. I am definitely not a graceful person, and a total newbie to Yoga, which probably doesn't help. I'm not sure how I feel about this one, I wanted a good all-rounder DVD but it felt much more like a lower body workout as my quads were in bits.

AND, there was no cool-down at the end, just a bloody long pep-talk from Jillian, but I felt the need to do some good stretching anyway.

BrassicaBabe · 24/11/2016 20:33

Day 2. Done. The kids joined in (DTs). So cute. Yelled at DH (well, breathed heavily between star jumps) for coming in with his camera app!Angry

AuntieStella · 24/11/2016 20:42

I've pulled a calf running, so won't be doing that for a few days.

Those who have started The Shred - would it be insane to try to do this instead? Or at least try most of it, but skip the bits that hurt the calf?

MissWillaCather · 25/11/2016 10:04

Another day, another shred, level 2 this time. Mixing it up so don't get bored.

I struggle with the breathing too, especially as my small dog likes to sit on my stomach in the crunches 😀

I think shredding with a pulled calf could be a mistake. What about an abs workout?

Won't be doing over weekend as I am away. Could try running, but it's just so bloody cold.

SoupDragon · 25/11/2016 10:19

I think most of the cardio would be out with a pulled calf apart from the "punches"

Some of the strength moves with weights would be fine - the one where you lie on the floor and lift the weight for example. Some of the other ones without lunges might be OK. Abs are probably fine.

DeliciousIrony · 25/11/2016 11:30

I agree, I don't think shredding with a pulled calf would be a great idea unfortunately! I'd give yourself a proper rest for a few days tbh.

Day off from work today so I braved Banish Fat Boost Metabolism...I haven't done this one much at all (and not in ages) because I have vague memories of wanting to throw up by the end. But I did it without dying today, hurray!

BrassicaBabe · 25/11/2016 14:44

Day 3 done. It was a semi tone easier!

busyrascal · 26/11/2016 08:29

I didn't manage my day 5 yesterday as dh/wine/Netflix beckoned Grin

I was going to do it this morning instead but I have woken up with a really sore upper arm/shoulder. Think I slept on it funny so might struggle today. I'm chucking dh and dc out to the supermarket later so will attempt it then.

Ah, sweet rest day. Enjoying lounging in my PJs, will have a bath shortly and potter off to get my hair cut this afternoon, and then go for some drinks with friends. Back on it tomorrow though!

movingforward2016 · 26/11/2016 13:14

Deliciously - do you think the hula hoop works? I have a weighted hoop and can hoop for an hour if I want but the weight makes me sore so I don't do it again for a while lol

BrassicaBabe · 26/11/2016 13:29

Feeling self righteous here then Grin as I managed Day 4! Day or rest and still slumming around, but pulled in the requisite 20 mins

Ripped by xmas as promised to Miss Willa's daughter! Wink

BrassicaBabe · 26/11/2016 13:30

Oh and jumped on Amazon to buy the 1kg hand weights as the tinned toms had had their day!

DeliciousIrony · 27/11/2016 16:39

Brassica Go you ! The weights will definitely help more than the tins.

movingforward I'm fairly new to hooping too! The first day I tried it I did it for about 20 minutes while I was trying to get the hang of it,and got fairly painful bruises on both hipbones. Since then I've just been doing 10 mins or so every other day after doing some kind of Jillian workout to try and toughen up. It's been a couple of weeks and I managed it today without any pain. Whether or not it will help trim my waist remains to be seen!

Today I went for a brisk 3.5 mile walk, and then had a go at two of Jillian's 10-minute transformations (Pilates and Cardio), and then 10 minutes of hula hooping, so quite pleased with that as I often wimp out of doing much exercise on a Sunday.

busyrascal · 27/11/2016 19:41

Just managed day 5 after two days off. Definitely finding it easier than I did at first.

BrassicaBabe · 27/11/2016 20:17

Day 4 ticked off. I think pelvic floor might be improving already. It's either that or I've developed an avoidance method by limiting intake before Confused

I spotted another JM scheme I fancy "6 week 6 pack". I'm going to keep my head down and get through these 30 days before mixing it up.

Tempted by the idea of hooping too. Worried that I'd add it to the fitness "memorabilia" I've collected over the last (cough) 25 years though. (Step, ball, funny sit up thing, elastic bands, medicine ball Blush)

busyrascal · 27/11/2016 22:32

Ooh Brassica* that sounds like quite a collection!

Question - my sister gave me a 'exer-soft ball' for my birthday and I haven't quite worked out how to use it yet. Any recommendations for workouts that will help me out with it?

DeliciousIrony · 28/11/2016 17:20

Another day off work today, had a good walk around town and then No More Trouble Zones...arms feel like they might fall off, that must be a good sign.

BrassicaBabe · 28/11/2016 20:14

Day 6 done! Half with new 1kg half with trustee tin cans! On the downward slope to level 2!!

MissWillaCather · 29/11/2016 09:30

Go brassica!

I have had three days off, though had yoga class yesterday.

I succumbed to the lure of JM fastfix kickboxing, which I started today to mix up with shredding. It was good!

If I could lay off the vino might see more improvement 😊

BrassicaBabe · 29/11/2016 22:44

MissWilla. I signed up to 30 day shred. Nothing was said about laying off the vino! Nope. Not going to. Can't make me. Grin

Day 7. Done!
