For C25K graduates who are taking the next step!

W10R1 this morning, 3x15min runs with minute walks in between. I wasn't at all sure I was going to finish but I did, checked MapMyRun & saw I'd done 6.3K.

Hadn't realised I could run that far!

Argh! I've just bought myself a pair of Brooks runners!! And a sports bra Blush. It's usually the s&b board that does this to me...

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 13/12/2016 05:36

Kanye Cake Flowers

Hope your head's better. They're very lovely! I know my knees are ok on a 20 min run now so I can keep on working back up.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 17/12/2016 13:03

W11R3 DONE. Lost track of how far I got because I brilliantly managed to reset the treadmill halfway. But done nevertheless! How is everybody?

KanyesVest · 18/12/2016 21:37

Oh, that's a pain in the ass to lose your place! Great to have got another day ticked off. How's your knee?

I had a bad week (pukey dd didn't help) but even after a Christmas get together with booze I did 8km this evening in 56mins. I did week 13 run 1 again, 22x2 plus 10 mins at the end to bring it up. Felt good.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 19/12/2016 07:43

After booze? I'm impressed! Hope your DD's better. Have you got your new pretties?

Knee's improving thanks, bit twingey still but definitely getting there.

I bashed emergency stop on the treadmill when I meant to change to walking speed, so it could have been a lot worse. I had that minute to sort myself out. What are you doing for Christmas?

KanyesVest · 20/12/2016 22:00

Seems running immediately after drinking is better than running a day after (l was out for a fancy dinner and drinks last night). I did week 13, run 2 (25 mins x 2) but legs were a bit leaden. I had to slow down at then end; I've never experienced runner's tummy before Confused

How are your gym sessions going? I need to get find a weights or circuits class for the new year.

The pretties arrived amazingly quickly. I love the feel of them, but I'm feeling very petty and thinking of returning them because there's more pink on then than i realised Blush. I'm not really adverse to pink, but it irrationality annoys me on sports gear!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/12/2016 07:32

Runner's tummy doesn't sound good at all. W13 though? You're smashing this!

The gym's going really well, just gut into the habit of going before work every morning (and then straight into the Costa next door). W12R1 done on the treadmill yesterday. Slowly, but done.

My pretties are all blue but I know what you mean, all my sweat-wicking Karrimor workout stuff is pink &/or black.

Hello, wondering if I could join for running motivation.

Brief history; I have lost about 7 stone in the past 5 years (well, been maintaining for past two years). Due to arm injury I had to completely redo my exercise and running was recommended, so for the past three months I've been trying to do a coupe of runs a week. I'm now comfortably doing 5k and starting to build it up to challenge myself. I've done one 8k and one 8.4k in the last couple of weeks, taking roughly 55 minutes. I try to do something every day exercise wise (e.g. Swim/yoga/aerobics/hiit) and I'm a big fan of beachbody workout DVDs (e.g. Insanity). I did do weights but I'm banned due to injury. Interested in hints, tips, etc on building length as well as form.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/12/2016 15:31

Welcome to the group, Reastie!

GodReastieMerryGentlemen · 21/12/2016 18:39

Thanks empress

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 22/12/2016 10:11

I only fucking bloody did it.

10K on the treadmill, 90 mins & my knees feel fine.

I was a bit hysterical when I'd finished though.

KanyesVest · 22/12/2016 15:26

Well done!! Great work 🎉 I fully understand the delirium Grin

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 22/12/2016 16:00

Thanks Kanye. I finished W12R2 & just kept going.

I was sort of crying & cheering at the same time as I finished. I'd put on my JustGiving page that I was aiming to hit 10K by Christmas & I didn't think it was going to happen, so I was so thrilled to make it at the last minute.

I got some weird looks, but the trainer I had my induction with was around & he understood straightaway. He was lovely - seemed genuinely excited for me.

Back onto the programme now!

GodReastieMerryGentlemen · 22/12/2016 17:50

Empress that's amazing, well done. Are you training for a specific event to have a just giving page? Hope you don't feel it too much tomorrow!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 22/12/2016 18:20

Thanks Reastie, I hope so too!

And yes, I'm doing a 10K in May for pancreatic cancer research. I need to do it in under 1hr45 mins so I'm well on on schedule. I just wanted to know I could actually run the whole thing!

GodReastieMerryGentlemen · 22/12/2016 20:57

90 minutes is brilliant given your aim.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/12/2016 07:10

Thanks Reastie. I've got my confidence back now so I can relax & enjoy the Christmas break.

How's your arm?

GodReastieMerryGentlemen · 23/12/2016 07:22

Arm is same old same old. I've had the injury for well over a year, it's not going away any time soon! Doing physio exercises but I'm not expecting an overnight improvement.

Hoping for a run this morning but woke up late meaning my cup of tea is late so it may jiggle around too much and I may have to do a workout at home and a run tomorrow (I suffer from a lot of stitch when running).

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/12/2016 09:46

Workouts are good. Doing my routine in the gym three times a week has made a hell of a lot of difference!

GodReastieMerryGentlemen · 23/12/2016 11:07

Well, went for a run and did 8.17k an 49 minutes. It's only my third run 7 k or over and I really really had to work hard in speed this morning. I felt like I was going really fast and it was a good time then I looked online when I got home to find a decent time for the length would be more like 40 minutes. Don't think I'll ever be at that point! Still, I feel better for the run and I'm proud of the 8k.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/12/2016 11:19

You should be proud!

As for "decent time", I would guess that's for experienced runners. I think right now it's about building up the stamina and getting used to a completely different way of moving as much as anything else, if that makes sense?

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/12/2016 11:20

KanyesVest · 23/12/2016 19:30

Erm, I'm delighted to do 8km in 56mins, so 49 would be some sort of miracle in my book! Well done.

Another rest day here Blush just back from a Christmas drinks and nibbles in a friend's house. Way too much bubbly to even think about going for a run! Definitely tomorrow...

GodReastieMerryGentlemen · 23/12/2016 21:08

Thank you. I'm telling myself 40 minutes is a male time and women are naturally never going to compete with that I have no idea if it's true that 40 minutes was the masculine decent time . i did a fit test on my new heart rate monitor which consisted of lying down whilst it measured my resting heart rate (that's the kind of fitness test I like!,!!) and it came back at the very top of the 'very good' category, which cheered me up no end.

Kanye no excuses for tomorrow ;)

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/12/2016 23:20

My trainers are sitting at home in London and I'm in Yorkshire, that's my excuse Grin
