For C25K graduates who are taking the next step!

W10R1 this morning, 3x15min runs with minute walks in between. I wasn't at all sure I was going to finish but I did, checked MapMyRun & saw I'd done 6.3K.

Hadn't realised I could run that far!

Hello! How's everyone getting on? Went for a walk yesterday instead of running because of the rain and I was feeling a bit delicate :) planning on a run tomorrow morning before everyone gets up, need to find my determination though. It's getting harder and harder to get out of bed

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 22/11/2016 21:46

Hi Zef.

W11R2 tomorrow, 17-1-17-1-17. I've decided I'm going to have a couple of runs on the way to work during the week sticking to the timing, then one round a park at the weekend which will hopefully go up a k each time.

I need to be up at 6 - you?

ZefStar · 23/11/2016 06:45

Needed to be up at 5:20 but slept through my alarm Grin so tomorrow morning I'll run!
How did yours go?

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/11/2016 08:01

Stopped after 20 mins with knee pain Sad.

It ached after I ran the 7K at the weekend but I thought it was better. I think I'm going to give it the rest of the week off and then switch to running on grass for a while, see if that helps.

AnnettePrice · 23/11/2016 08:34

Empress sorry to hear about your knee :-( hope it gets better soon. There are often running paths around parks in London that have softer surfaces.

Girls weekend away last weekend but managed a short run in the wind and rain, slipping and sliding over mud. Not sure if trainers will ever recover :-/
Due to life stuff , next run will be Friday.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/11/2016 08:47

Thanks Annette. I've got St James's Park & Green Park just round the corner so I'll switch to doing laps before work.

I'd still like to hit 8K at the weekend but I have months until the race, and I'd be stupid to push myself too hard and do real damage.

How was your weekend apart from the wet muddy bit? Smile

AnnettePrice · 23/11/2016 14:27

Apart from the mud...
Lots of talking, not much sleep. Good food, a drink or 2.
Lots of laughter Grin

(Can you see why it was a short run Blush).

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 23/11/2016 18:08

Sounds like the weekend was well worth it though!

badgerread · 25/11/2016 13:21

Oooooooooo can I join? I finished c25k a couple of weeks ago using the fitness 22 app and have now graduated to the 10k one. I'm on w9 and did r2 last night which was 20m run 3m walk 20m run. I've entered a 10k trail run on NYE so I've got to complete the plan! 😁

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/11/2016 21:10

Welcome to the thread, Badgerread!

AnnettePrice · 26/11/2016 08:27

Right, if I say it on here it will happen.
I will be going for a run today.
Dropping back to W1R3 as with almost 2 weeks off (well it feels like it) I think a repeat is needed.
It's unnerving how even this amount of time off, getting back to running can feel daunting.

Welcome Badger with you and Empress signed up for 10K runs, Im feeling like it's time to do the same.
I'm quite fancying the great south run, it's in October next year but it's 10 miles rather than 10K Confused
Might look for a 10K earlier in the year

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 26/11/2016 08:37

10 miles Shock

Do sign up for something though. It's a huge motivator. My sponsorship fund topped £1100 yesterday so if anything gets me out on cold mornings that does!

ZefStar · 26/11/2016 10:31

You can do it Annette!! I once again switched the alarm off in my sleep this morning. I'll get out there eventually

£1100 is very impressive Empress, a great motivator! Well done :)

ZefStar · 26/11/2016 10:32

I've never entered an event at all, I'm sure you'll be well ready for it by NYE badger :) I think the cold mornings and my cold which is not pissing off are stopping me getting anything done

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 26/11/2016 12:16

Thanks Zef! I'm a bit in shock at how fast it's going, I've only been fundraising for a month.

If that's the killer cold with the chesty cough I'd definitely take a break FlowersBrew

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 27/11/2016 15:50

8K! 8K 8K!

4 mins walking and ow ow ow ow.

But 8K!

KanyesVest · 27/11/2016 22:14

High fives, Empress!! I did 8km too!! It was slow (61mins) but like you I only did 4mins of walking. Well done!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 28/11/2016 02:46

High fives, Kanye! Well done to you too!!!

Mine was 64 mins. But we did it!!!

KanyesVest · 28/11/2016 07:53

My calves aren't high fiving me. Ds kindly set off the house alarm this morning as an early wake up call and I has an interesting hobble/lurch to turn it off Blush I think I need to invest in a foam roller if I'm getting distance up again. Hope you can walk more comfortably than I can!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 28/11/2016 08:02

My knees are severely pissed off! I'm going for an induction at the gym opposite my work on Wednesday morning, hoping I can get an exercise routine to help.

KanyesVest · 28/11/2016 21:22

Oh no, hope your knees are recovering. Do you have any massage balls? I have one to dig into the bottom of my inner aducter (?? inside my knee, just above my kneecap, if that makes sense) and it can really help.

Decided to have an "active rest" day and did 3x10 mins runs with 1 min walk between them. I did uphill on the way out, so it was a rather enjoyable cold crisp run on the way back Grin

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 28/11/2016 21:40

Thanks Kanye. They've recovered a lot faster than they did last week! I like the sound of active rest days. How are your calves?

KanyesVest · 28/11/2016 23:53

Glad to hear it. Calves are OK, they were back to normal by lunchtime. My ankles are a bit wobbly though, which is annoying. I can never tell if it's hormonal or shoe related Confused

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 29/11/2016 07:11

Glad to hear it too, though wobbly ankles sound annoying!

So COLD.

ZefStar · 29/11/2016 17:56

Gym sounds good empress , hopefully the instructor can give you some good tips (and you can share them here Wink)

Congratulations to you both on the 8k!!

I have beaten this cold into submission I think so planning to run tomorrow morning. Gonna need some serious willpower to get out bed but I'm sure I'll do it. Haven't run since Thursday!
