For C25K graduates who are taking the next step!

W10R1 this morning, 3x15min runs with minute walks in between. I wasn't at all sure I was going to finish but I did, checked MapMyRun & saw I'd done 6.3K.

Hadn't realised I could run that far!

Sorry to hear that Zippy

Hope work gets a bit easier Ski and well done all on getting out there. I REALLY struggled after my holiday but seem to be getting back to fitness now. Did 5 miles with a pal this morning and it was great.

When it works it works, right enough!

KanyesLunchbox · 02/07/2017 22:08

That's crappy, Zippy. Will you be waiting long for a referral?

I dragged myself out for a run. It is hot and heavy and I really didn't want to go. So I did a very slow 4k but with about 1k of 50-100m sprints distributed throughout. I did most of them on inclines so I really felt them. It as a fairly bad run but I feel better than I would otherwise.

SkiBike007 · 03/07/2017 07:21

Oh zippy that sucks I hope you can find long term relief and some other less impact sport to get your exercise buzz. After years of "back" issues I have huge sympathy. Gd luck with the 10k.

Well done shortaris sounds like a gd run and kanye doing hill sprints post beer is impressive!

Zippyzulu · 03/07/2017 07:52

Thanks all. I tried swimming yesterday but that too hurt my knee. I'm going to try the cross trainer again and maybe cycling so at least I know I can do less impact exercise to keep fitness up if I have to have the operation- I've had the op four times before (dodgy knees!) but was hoping everything was ok now!
I shouldn't have to wait long for a referral as we have health cover and can be seen in a week or so but trying to work out when the least inconvenient time is difficult!
Just need to do a couple of short runs this week and hope for the best next weekend Smile

NotTheDuchessOfCambridge · 03/07/2017 07:57

I crossed the bridge this weekend with a 10k obstacle course, not the best idea I've ever had!

SkiBike007 · 03/07/2017 13:45

Roller skating makes me puff zippy Grin not sure about impact on knees though.

Well done duchess someone tried to get me to a 5k muddy obstacle thing but I'm far too nervous of buggering up my back to do it.

SkiBike007 · 04/07/2017 18:05

A swift 4.5k at lunchtime today, my Strava was giving me odd feedback but "corrected" when I up loaded it to a fast run?! It was too hot for me though. I didn't really fancy a run but a 13hr work day tom means I'll be sitting down mostly so I needed my "fix"Grin

Zippyzulu · 04/07/2017 20:37

Well done ski, serious commitment!
With my coordination I'm not sure roller skating is a good idea. However I forced myself to run 5k today as I didn't feel up to it at all but managed to pace myself to 31 minutes, which is my aim for the 10k next week. Glad it's over and best of all my knee didn't hurt at all- how bizarre! I'm having acupuncture on Thursday so hopefully it'll hold out for a little while longer Smile

shortaris1 · 06/07/2017 10:57

Well done Zippy and Ski I managed 1.8 miles this morning. Didn't have time for any more as have to get ready for work!

Need to get 10k in on Sunday to stay in track with my plan.

KanyesLunchbox · 06/07/2017 12:03

Hope the acupuncture is helpful today, zippy.

I ran 3.75k last night, split with 30mins in the gym. Ice completely lost my mojo, I'm not sure how I'm going to get it back.

Zippyzulu · 08/07/2017 20:25

Well done Kanye and shortaris!
I did a short run on Thursday and my knee held up ok. Tomorrow is the big day for me when I will hopefully cross that bridge officially Shock. Weather here is really humid and sticky so I'm not looking forward to it- packed a sun visor, damp towel and plenty to water so I just need to go for it and hope for the best. I just don't cope well with heat!
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

KanyesLunchbox · 08/07/2017 21:22

Best of luck zippy! The heat is a killer but hopefully it will cool a bit for you. Enjoy it! Sounds like your knee is holding up which must be a relief.

I did a 5k with dd today which was fun. It was an inflatable course, so 10 different obstacles to get over and through en route. Tbh, between the heat and my massive hangover (very long and lovely lunch yesterday Blush ) we walked most of it --
as did most other people so I didn't feel quite so bad!

SkiBike007 · 08/07/2017 22:54

Gd luck zippy and well done kanye sounds fun.
I was hoping to do my usual long Sunday morn run but today has been manic & late to bed tonight I'm not sure I'll be up at 6am...but running kit has been optimistically laid out Grin

SkiBike007 · 09/07/2017 14:11

Did 9k this morning was awake early so just went. Beaut morning but hot now.

shortaris1 · 09/07/2017 20:04

Hope Zippys leg held up. Rotten sleep so no 10k done. I need to do it tomorrow.

Good for you Ski and that sounds fun Kanye Not the hangover though Grin

SkiBike007 · 09/07/2017 21:10

Hope you get better sleep tonight shortaris there truly is nothing worse than sleep deprivation, my oldest was a non-sleeper for nearly 5yrs and it nearly destroyed me. Now she is still the mega active healthy vibrant DD full of energy but she does she mostly 9-10hrs a night!

SkiBike007 · 09/07/2017 21:10

Sleep!

Zippyzulu · 10/07/2017 07:23

Just a quick check in in from me to say I DID IT! The heat was overpowering at 24 degrees and really humid but I ran the whole 10k without any stops and kept a decent pace throughout. I finished in 1.05, which is slower than I have done in training but with the heat and my dodgy knee I am still feeling pleased! Having said that, my knee held up pretty well so hopefully I can sign up for some more races with confidence now Smile

KanyesLunchbox · 10/07/2017 08:22

Well done zippy!! That's an amazing time! How are you feeling?

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 10/07/2017 09:25

WELL DONE ZIPPY!!!!

SkiBike007 · 10/07/2017 11:19

That's great zippy glad the knees held up and hope you enjoyed it, well done in the heat it was really hot here yesterday I couldn't have run later in the day too humid.

shortaris1 · 10/07/2017 21:51

Well done Zippy you rock!

Zippyzulu · 10/07/2017 22:32

Thanks all. I'm a little sore today, which shows that I really did push myself yesterday! Feel proud of myself but want to get back out there and beat that time on a less sunny day Smile. I couldn't have done it without my running partner for the day as we really did get each other through it. I'm having a few days rest for now, maybe 2-3 k on wed/ Thursday then back to park run on Saturday. Thanks for all the positivity!

SkiBike007 · 12/07/2017 18:10

Early 5k this morning before "life" kicked in Smile was nice after yesterday's rain.

SkiBike007 · 16/07/2017 13:43

We were away but I did a 7k along road/footpath near the campsite this morning in the humid drizzle! One week till my first ever race for life...
